A former french ambassador is trying to publish a book about the relationship between France and West Africa. This book has been denied publication by the french government.
The book title is " Au coeur de la diplomatie française en Afrique" by Sylvain itté
Can’t have something as petty and unimportant as the truth told now, can they? Sickening.
France (entire Europe) is a third world country without Africa and all of western countries know it and keeps the status quo’s narrative. Africans are poor and dumb with the help of media, USAID, the UN always rescuing Africans from poverty for not being able to be trusted, educated and children to save.
Lmao France doesn't hold free speech to the same import as other countries.
Has it been translated into English yet?
@@Joedackie7 Not yet. The book was supposed to come out in march 2024. The french government told the publisher of the book is not authorized in his current version.
I don't know what kind of pressure the author is under. I hope the author would publish the current version outside of France.
Always good to see the return of untangling Africa
I was 5yr Old during th Battle of Abidjan, I remember fleeing the city with my mother while my father was forced to stay in the capital by his condition of civil cervant in a position that made him a reservist. Remember crying out loud each time I couldn't have im on the phone due to crappy lines. Thankfully He survived it as he immediately pledged alegiance to Ouattara, an action that spared him from being thrown into combat.

Unfortunately, Quattara did what he fought against, 3rd term.
It didn’t seem like an accident that in the last approximately a year that it’s been former French colonies in upheaval with Russia support.
Well as long as the Russians don't enslave them they would be preferable than the French.
Excellent video as usual, although I wish you would also included the fact that the reason why the French were able to control the place for so long was because of the collaboration of many tribes and ethnic groups in the country since they were never enough French for them to be able to control the entire population in their history which also led to a lot more of the ethnic tension of the tribes that collaborated in the ones that didn't
I would have liked to have heard more about the role of the French in looting resources, 'fixing elections,' and fomenting inter-ethnic and inter-religious hostilities in the Ivory Coast. I think Ivory Coast should join the "Alliance of Sahel States" but there needs to be a change of leadership for that to happen.
I juat bet you would

Come together leader of Africa do the best for all African
Sounds like the French, much like the Americans, utilize their military as a bit of a jobs program since there's probably not enough jobs back home. And what's one way to keep that jobs program going? Imperialism and neocolonialism ("peacekeeping" according to them). Which, of course, has the added bonus of the looting of resources.
*Reminder:* 99% of the time, nothing good can ever come of having foreign troops stationed on soil that isn't theirs.
haha...Miocene with weapons. Ja, that ist gut idea.
Auf Wiedersehen :)
Semi-stupid question:
When has Africa not been a warzone?
Before European colonialism and exploitation of resources by you know whom..
@@linkin543210 lol good joke there

@@linkin543210
@@linkin543210ha ha ha!!! No my friend, they were warring, killing each other, taking slaves, selling slaves, and committing atrocities LONG before any Europeans set foot there.
Don’t get me wrong, European and Arab colonialists and traders were absolute bastards for a whole host of reasons. But it’s only the arbitrary borders they created, which has forced these warring groups together, and have led us to call the historic conflicts that regularly erupt between between them “civil wars”.
But with or without those arbitrary borders the wars between these “tribes” and “tribal alliances” would still have been happening, as they have for ages and ages. And they will continue to happen for generations to come.
Just look at the Horn of Africa. It’s not really a fight between Ethiopia and Eritrea. It’s a messy brutal Game of Thrones fight between the Tigre, Beja, Nara, Rashida, Afar, Bilen, and others. Because in Africa, historic tribal allegiances, and historic tribal animosities, have always been far FAR more important than any nationalistic inclinations.
@@linkin543210 it's just outsiders came into the mix with Europeans. Africa & most other parts of the world have constantly known war. The era that we are living in is probably way more peaceful than in the past.
Why didn't you conclude the video in early 2024, where things are actually calm now and economy progress booming. I feel like you ended the video very negatively
Oh just give it another month and that corrupt shithole will be broken again
Because the elections are close and we know that with all the actors of the old crises together (except for Soro Guillaume who is preparing his return and who is not appreciated by the current government) it does not augur such a great calm but rather the calm before the storm... Even if I hope I'm wrong
@@jeanquamay857 Nothing is gonna happen. Stop frightening ppl.
Just developp your village. Abidjan is good since FHB. As a matter of fact, this government is not capable to developp agriculture to feed his ethnic group. They continue to migrate in in the south
What counts as calm in Africa is a very low bar
What a highly troubled place
What the video fails to ention is that Côte d'Ivoire is today one of africa's richest and safest countries with one of the world's fastest economic growths. Ouattara actually did a good job reunifying the country and puting the people into work.
Right now their is peace but as am Ivorian i feel like this is forced peace. Two clan clashed dioula et bete but the calmest one and the the more spread one they need to watch out. Cause their had great loss so next president have to be very powerful and intelligent to play among all of these tribes
Soro Guillaume's rebels loyal to Watara have committed atrocities and crimes against humanity, movements such as (MPCI), (MPGO) were rebel movements with the aim of eliminating not a supporter of Watara, their methods of killing their victims were to cut their throat or decapitation, the rebels killed more than 120,000 Ivoirian people, women, children, old people, young people, they killed everyone, they only left alive the people of their ethnic group and I am a supporter of Watara, I am shocked that the (ICC court )did not stop Guillaume and its rebels for war crimes and crimes against humanity, Watara must also be tried for crimes against humanity. Today in the Watara regimes all rebel leaders occupy high-ranking positions in the armed forces!

Ah, the french.
If the United States or British did the same as France their populations would protest. Are the French apathetic about this issue? When French soldiers are getting killed is there much talk of it in France? Why die for a former colony? I really don’t see the British public putting up with it anymore without reason.
The French aren't apathetic, they support it
Just to clarify some point; Ivory coast is not a Warzone, it is one of the safest place to live in Africa. The economy is booming, the ravage of the war have long been rebuild. I was ten during the second civil war we call it the post electoral crisis. There are no longer militia riding in Mitsubishi and beheading people (it was mainly done in 2002), insecurity is no longer an issue. Actually we are organizing the African football CuP (LA CAN) and were are in final of our own CAN. So yeah if you want to spend hell of a good time in Africa come to "Côte d'ivoire pays de l'hospitalité".

@@Hackenschmidt. Rhodesia was still a racist state that oppressed the majority of its population. The fact that this is your example just illustrates how weak your arguments are. Just because the government that followed was even worse it doesn't mean European rule was a good thing for them. Part of the reason a lot of these states are so dysfunctional are the borders that Europeans made and the centuries of corruption and exploitation without any investment in education that laid the groundwork for much of the issues post colonial states have. If you're cramped together with a dozen ethnicities in some weird state construct and all you know is centuries of mismanagement and exploitation, its not really a good base to build self-sustainable and functioning states.
