Just rewatched it. A favorite of mine. I would have been impossible for me to watch it as a kid.. as I was 18 when it was made 😂 But damn.. If I had watched it as a kid I think I would have been terrified.

Tim Burton’s Alice universe sucks. He even admitted that he never really like the books.
American McGee and Jan Svankmajer are the only two creators besides Lewis’s Carroll himself to really capture the spirit of Wonderland.

What prevents this movie from being great is the stupid decision to have the little girl do the voice over for everyone, instead of hiring voice actors. Also, the close-ups of her saliva filled mouth telling us with poor delivery who said what after almost every line of dialogue was extremely off-putting. If it weren't for this I would've absolutely loved it.

Maybe the decision to keep the same voice was made purposely to disorient the viewer and play with our minds...just like what alice is feeling. Could be a possibility!
