Because of a huge right shoulder rotator cuff injury & surgery, I can only perform 15 lateral raise with 5 pound weights. The weakness impacts other exercises. But hey, at age 73 this doesn’t stop me from going to the gym or using resistance bands at home!
I'm 65 and just had an MRI done on my left shoulder...minor tears in my rotator cuff. The Orthopedist told me to stop doing side lateral and front lateral raises. Now I perform a raise in between the two. like a "Y" raise. I still do a side lat raise with the cable, but with light weights. My shoulder bothers me if I sit too long in my office chair, other than that, I really don't feel it working out. I did aggravate it doing some bent over single arm db rows, but it's feeling better now.
My favourite shoulder exercise was lifting drywall at work then holding it to the ceiling, then someone unplugged your drill by accident, lol, now I like to do shrugs, nice quick and simple
I know when I sleep in my bed I have a habit of sleeping on my shoulders. I don't sleep in the bed anymore. I'm single so I sleep in my camping hammock in my spare bedroom. This forces me to sleep mostly on my back. I don't wake up in the middle of the night with painful shoulders anymore and my shoulder work outs are so much better. I've been sleeping in my hammock for about month now and actually get more sleep.
That's a good tip. I'm pretty good at sleeping on my good (left) shoulder but I have dreams and nightmares in which I move my right arm around and sometimes I wake up with my right shoulder and arm in an awkward position. I may invest in a hammock.
I've had the same problem just lower your shoulder down to where your shoulder is below your chin and don't rest your head on your shoulders under the pillow that's what causes your shoulder discomfort
I'm 73 and have several years of lifting since the 1960s. Of course, my shoulders have taken a beating over the years. But mostly my hands are shot. I have arthritis in my thumbs and wrists. So to compensate I have graduated to using bands. I have a full squat rack at home. As for dumbbells, my grip most days is painful. What are some of the best band movements for shoulders? I typically do the same workouts I have done with dumbells but now with bands.
the landmine press is a nice overhead movement if shoulders are delicate, rest the landmine on a gym box/bench so you dont have to pick it up from the floor all the time.
I absolutely love your videos. I've learnt so much from you. I've only been lifting for 8 weeks

@@aleks1939Be sure to get a hammock at least 11 feet long. They are a lot more comfortable.

Great exercise ideas, thanks. Just one question, at what angles should I place the bench back?
I need a rich widow lol
Thanks for the video. How many sets/reps should we do on each?
Aim for 3 sets of 10-12 reps for each exercise
Could you please do a video on how to do pullups at home, without using those crappy door pullup bars at Walmart. 🙏
Is there an email you use? I can ask you more in-depth question about being older and where your testosterone levels should range around?
did catch how many reps or sets
What weight dumbbells should I be using? I'm over 65
Paddling my canoe for 10 to 14 days is my favorite exercise
