My wife and I just recently tried to watch rocky horror and we couldn’t get through it. One of those movies I guess I just don’t understand

I understand, but to be fair it's really made to be seen in theatrical setting. People come in costume, make jokes, sing aloud, and act crazy. That's the only setting in which this movie works.

Yeah, I saw it at the midnight movie too, but I'm not sure a concert film about the biggest band in the world qualifies as a cult film.

you know what's wild about time and the perception of time?
this was recorded when, 1979? so _Casablanca_ came out in 1943, and so would've been 36 years old then. and they're talking about _Casablanca_ with the same sort of obvious reverence for it as a masterpiece the way we still do today, but _Casablanca_ to them would've only been as old as _Platoon_ is now to us.
and _Casablanca_ is still _Casablanca,_ but _Platoon_ just doesn't have that same sort of baked-in masterpiece thing, even though it's still a very very admired film to this day.
I think we're more into something like _Aliens,_ which also came out in 1986.
but it's still not the same. it's just not the same. the classics are still the classics, but our choices for classics made in the '80s and beyond have changed quite a bit.
