@@mrwhit8694 thats the thing, make enemies die realistically and make the player do the same and when player levels up and becomes harder to kill, increase the enemy amount. Your character might gain some numbers and feel more powerful but what actually happens is that you as a player have learned and gained experience so taking more enemies down at the same time feels challenging yet make you feel like your character is getting stronger. Bullet sponge enemies/player character is the opposite, either you can't kill anything at the start and become way too op later or you never really feel like gaining power because enemies take even more bullets when you gain levels. What many games do is that they increase dmg numbers to trick you feeling more powerful. And there is also near perfect version; Elden Ring, let player character gain strenght but also let player go straight to try and kill hard endgame enemies if they want + spread few of those around lower level areas. You feel like pro when taking down harder enemy and realize that it was just foot soldier and then the orchestral music starts playing. You gain experience by trying again and again and sametime your character levels up making the fight little bit easier over time.

As someone who is a massive fallout fan and actually lives in Cumberland, I couldn't be happier about this project. I can see they are trying to use our regional dialogue but they're not quite getting it right and the accents are more Lancashire than cumbrian. That's literally my only criticism though. Really looking forward to it
I was waiting for someone to say "Alright Marra" ha, I'm also from Cumbria and yes I also thought the accents sounded much more Yorkshire. It is amazing to have a Fallout type game set in the Lake District though:)

I hate when the AI on stealth games is dumb as dirt. I dont want it to be impossible but I always hated how you can throw a coin, catch their buddy on fire and then baddie will just go back to normal ten seconds later. I think FarCry5 is the best AI I have dealt with when doing stealth.
IMO Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands has better stealth mechanics. Allows you to sneak into enemy bases, where 1 misstep can = your end. Also like the long range sniping mechanics where if you’re far enough, AI will react but can’t find you.
I always Liked the Ghost Recon series but I have not tried wildlands yet. Hitman series has its moments as well. Hope to catch a sale on wildlands soon.
@@Hazzikaze my problem with Wildlands was that it was fun, but a bit too much of the same. I liked Splinter Cell Blacklist approach to AI - there is a GDC panel on how they made it. There was of course issues - one of them if you try to speed run the level (which game encourages you to do as the score is also based on time to completed the level) knowing enemy behavior and their original placement one can run to next checkpoint and not get detected. But the state graph was quite well designed imo, when they had regular patrol, alerted, engaged modes.

I have a theory about the person we play as because the telephone booth keeps saying Oberon must die what if those telephone booths are not real and just inside the main characters head or it’s a fragment of his/her memory and he or she was sent to kill Oberon for something he did or something.
I see how you were having some fun and you described it well. It does seem a bit crazy that there’s groups of bad guys everywhere and you can have a huge noisy fight with 4 dudes but the 5 guys over the fence don’t hear or react. A good gameplay mechanic or too goofy? Have to see a lot more to know.

Looks great but I just HATE when going to menus does not pause the game. Often done in games that want to support some kind of multiplayer and as I only ever play solo I see no reason and no benefit to this annoying mechanic.

You should check out AVOWED. It’s not a post-apocalyptic world game, it’s a newer version of Skyrim (for a lack of better explanation) but it’s coming out in late March of 25, just a few weeks after this game. Both of these games seem so awesome and I’m excited for both !
pretty unique concept to have a game set in an alternate reality after the windscale disaster and considering its made by the sniper elite devs give it a few more months to bake a lil bit and it should be pretty fun to play
People from outside of the UK, and even some people In the south of England, assume that everyone from Northern England all have a Yorkshire accent. It's like the default accent that they think we all sound like 😂. The same way americans think that all British people sound like the Queen
Needing the enemies to be dumb makes for a weak genre. You fix this by making the player even more vulnerable, but with an array of magical abilities, which is a bit like what Thief did, but it didn't entirely work because they didn't lean into it.

They can not only hide behind cover, but user teamwork and tactics to try and stay alive. Most of all, I want a game where if I turn up the difficulty, they don't just get more health and do more damage. Instead they become smarter, faster, and better equipped. Deathloop is a perfect example of a great game ruined by dumb AI. There's no need for stealth in that game at all. You can easily kill every single person on the maps, even on the hardest difficulty, by just hiding behind some cover and popping out and shooting them. Once I discovered how dumb the enemies were, the game was ruined...

They were once a promising team, now I feel they've been creatively influenced by "the message" and are largely incapable of producing anything of any real substance.
I'm surprised you said Evil Genius 2, and not the Sniper Elite series? One of those is way closer to this game than the other, and Rebellion made both. The Sniper Elite series seem fairly popular. I've always considered Rebellion a mixed studio. Sometimes they put out pretty good games, sometimes they are pretty mediocre.

The context behind this made me want to know more about the 50s and early nuclear projects in Britain during that time. I found out that the powerplant and nuclear incident behind this game happened and was covered up by the government. But not to existent to a full nuclear detonation like Chernobyl (Categorical give as a level 7 nuclear incident) The Windscale fire as its known happened in October 1957 when a fire began in the plutonium-producing reactor before it was put out. This would become known as a level 5 nuclear accident. The plant was made when the US decided to shove Britain to the curb by not sharing any the information for a nuclear bomb even when Britain had aided in its creation. Feelings hurt Britain decided to make our own and like everyone else learning how nuclear fusion works by smashing buttons and learned a few things.
Looks like they still have a lot of work to go before release. That tiny “world map” is hopefully just a small portion of a larger world. Also hope they fix the garbage NPCs.
The map looks really rinky dink in size. And I don't see a lot of cozy towns on it. Lol! Hopefully it's a sub map of a MUCH larger map. Or it's going to suck.
One thing I’ve noticed which to me lets the game down. They’ve made a really good effort on the graphics, environment etc and it looks incredible yet they couldn’t spend a small amount of time to make a Loot animation with your hand reaching out every time you loot items. It wouldn’t take much time and would make the game so much better. Instead you don’t react at all and just collect the item. To me that seems lazy …..
Lovely looking. Terrible enemies. Its great that groups can kill you quick, but to make them as equally thick as pig shit as they are bullet sponges, makes it a no go for me.
Just hoping they tweak the combat and hope they make it more realistic with headshots and fix the AI. I’m still getting this game solely for the setting and era of weaponry.
I think people don't understand how games work they're not supposed to be realistic or you shoot an enemy in one shot and they're dead leave that to games that do that games like this with futuristic tech and giant walking robots are not supposed to be realistic or the most highly advanced game people expect too much now The NPCs are fine they're just like any other game and so what if the die in two shots and you die in one That's almost every f****** game that involves this type of gameplay

Punching is more effective than a cricket bat. Very realistic. LOL Melee weapons should do a lot more damage than punching.
