Thanks for watching. It's fun for me to explore the unknown and I'm happy you enjoy it. Even if it's not a sophisticated and highly secure mechanism it also fun to look at the flaws and defect.
There's another product that should not be on the market that plastic top cover is a total fail wow! Only 3 pin and such poor tolerances - you're right horrible, However a good lesson in what not to buy!
+Potti314 just out of curiosity what if any lock do you use on your own bike? I know better but still have a 4 digit combo lock because it's light weight. And I mostly just wheel the bike in and out of the house, so I have no need for locking it up whilst out riding - cheers
TotallyRandom I use a U-lock like displayed here: mobilesecurity.abus.com/eng/bike/products/filter/lock?limit=999999&lock_type=ulock with a disc detainer core. Advantages: Massive steel (hard to cut), easy to carry (attached in the frame of the bike), locking mechanism hard to pick (although I don't care too much as long as it cannot be raked) and robust (no springs - important as impacted by water and freezing). If you have a combination lock like that ruclips.net/video/727-QM_dOGw/видео.html (mobilesecurity.abus.com/eng/bike/products/view/tresor-chain-catena-combo-1385-2-5-black) I think it's OK (advertised with: The ABUS combination cylinder protects against "pull-picking" and manipulation of the combination locking mechanism so thieves can't "feel" the combination clicking into place). Cheers, Michael.
+Potti314 Thanks Michael, I like the idea of the Abus anti pull mechanism, whilst bulky and heavy a thief would really have to come prepared ie. Bolt cutters or spend some time trying to decode the lock judging by the video. I tryed a U - lock of sorts years ago unfortunately it would rattle and clang against the frame, hence the 4 digit combo. Thanks again for the heads up, Cheers Tim
Indeed to manufacture a lock like this you need drawings, some parts, the tools in the factory, the process of assembling and so on. What a waste of resources to create something scrappy like that.
Been enjoying your videos lately and just subscribed. This is a silly little lock, now wonder you found it just laying in the street. Someone probably is missing a bike and the thief just left the lock.
Steel springs🤔😯,I'm surprised they weren't made of plastic😂😂😂 Nice breakdown of the lock👍👍😘 Defiantly NOT Basta's flagship lock 😂😂😉 Thanks for sharing😘😘😘😘
Yes, it's a shame, indeed. Not only the 3 pin core but using the top cover to secure the chamber for the locking bolt is unbelievable. Nonetheless, it was fun to explore the mechanism and to uncover all the flaws. Thanks for watching.
I have the cable but buy the looped end ones and use a master lock, thanks for explaining why I see these on the road now,too easy to pick,a bobby pin and a hair pin will do it.
+Potti314 Cable is always a struggle, have to fight it sometimes but I would rather do that than have something stolen so easily. I think i still have one of those cheepo locking cables,I use it on my snowblower. The problem with any lock here in the North is ice. I spray lubricant in my locks to prevent ice and snow from getting into the lock. I have had many a lock frozen up,the key goes in but wont turn. Those cheepo locks are the worse for that.
I know these problems especially with combination locks. High humidity and freeze cause them to stop working. I have great experience with my disc detainer U-lock. It has a shutter in front of the keyway and because of the nature of it no springs inside.
I enjoy your explorations. They are entertaining and I usually learn something. I guess we now know why this lock was left behind. ;)

Wow ty, i used those cheap bicycle lock and lost the key, ill try do any of those
Good luck.
Did it work
Very interesting choice of b.lock .
I'm founded this lock too !
But never not gut it !
Good video 👍
What can I use instead of your tools? I can't find the key to my locked bike.
Try paperclips Bob pins and windshield wiper blades to make tools from. But most probably a saw is easier.

When the parts jumped around and I realized how easy the lock could be bypassed I had to laugh out loud. I've never seen something like that.

This helped me pick my old bike lock. Thanks.
Great - thanks for the feedback.
It's very interesting to see all the corners that they cut to produce a cheap product.

It is a miserably failed attemp, but appreciate the ingenuity nevertheless.

Thanks for subscribing - hope you continue enjoying my videos. Oh yes, a silly lock - that's the right word.

Yes, steel spring, indeed. Good for me, as now I have three spare springs more ;-) Thanks for watching mate - glad you enjoyed it.
Very interesting vid mate, It is a shame that is marketed as a bicycle lock.
Thanks for sharing buddy ;-)))
Thanks, yes unbelievable what is sold as "lock" ;-)
Wow..worst bike lock ever...what a shame. great informational video :-)

Is it same for ragusa bike lock
Not sure, I didn't try ragusa bike lock yet.

Thank you for watching. Are you satisfied with the handling of cable and the extra lock?
