Hi Lars, Enjoyed your film very much. I find your deliver very relaxing. I have only been smoking a pipe for about six months find it relaxing. Keep well and thanks . Mark (north west England pipe smoker).
Great introductory video. I feel your pain when it comes to smoking outdoors in the cold weather (being Canadian and all). I'm envious of anyone with a nice shed to smoke in.
Hello Lars, Wishing you a warm welcome to this community, all the way from Canada. I watched your first pipe presenter video and I was amazed at the quality and your ease of talking in front of the camera. We, young pipe smokers, have a lot to learn from experienced smokers like you. I just enjoy looking for little details like the way you packed your pipe, the way you handled the match, also the tamping technique (started tamping at an angle since I watched your video). Great job! Olivier
Nice video Lars! I did want to point out that your pipe packing technique is very representative of how the packing evolves over time. When a person first starts, they try many ways and worry a lot about it. Over time it becomes mindless and easy, just as you demonstrated. Thanks!
I smoked a pipe 30 yrs ago gave it up, 6 yrs ago I started smoking cigars pulled out a old pipe that belonged to my dad and that is all im smoking, I find it very relaxing. Unfortunately many of my good pipes were taken from me, sad but that's life. I found that pipe smoking has taken me to meet some very good people.
Thanks Dougger, - and thanks for spotting my small workbench! I got it from a late relative who used to teach woodworking in the local school. He has been using it in his small workshop for a lifetime and now I have it in my outdoor workshop - and it's still in mint condition :-) Best Lars
lars just found your video I have a couple of stanwell pipes I bought . the box says they were made in Denmark very good pipes . good video and keep them coming ,
Hi Lars, great videos, I really find them relaxing. I just started smoking a pipe about a month ago to cut back on cigarettes and your videos really help.
I enjoyed your video. I have been a pipe smoker, off and on, for 50 years or so. My Grandfather and Father were both pipe smokers. I too live in an area with very cold, snowy Winters - in Upper Michigan. I don't smoke indoors except at my hunting cabin up north. I don't enjoy smoking outdoors in very cold weather so I do not smoke my pipes much in Winter time.
Hello Lars, Just stumbled on your video and just had to say I loved it. Don't really got the money to buy me a half decent pipe, but i like seein the nice pipes you have in your collection. Keep the videos comin!
Hello Olivier, Thank you so much for yoyr kind welcome from the other side of our small globe. I think I'm a bit like you, I also like to look at all the details in the scenery of a video, especial the pipe videos here on RUclips and I will love to pass on any small tricks, that I picked up over the years. I actually plan to come back on the topic about tampers and tamping, since I quite reasently learned some new tricks here... See you around Lars
Dear John, Thank you for your warm welcome here - I have now had the time to enjoy some of your videos and I really like them - I'm sure we will have a lot of good times in the future! All the best Lars
Wonderful "first" video Lars, and welcome to the community. Very much looking forward to your videos. I find that pipesmoking allows me to reach a meditative state, especially when surrounded by natural beauty. Rarely will I make any important decisions without first consulting one of my favorite briars. Until next time! -Emile
Hello Lars, and welcome!!! My Goodness what a delightful Video. I wish You and Your Wife the very best of years for 2013. I have subscribed and am already a fan. Thank You.
Hello Lars, I have enjoyed watching your videos. I have been scouring the RUclips pipe community for a mentor who has embraced pipe smoking as a frame of mind in the form of relaxation and meditation. I am also interested in the history of pipes, pipe smokers, and tobacco. I feel that you embody what I seek. You will be at the top of my watch list.
Hello Alan, Thanks for your kind words and welcome. I will do my best to spread whatever little knowledge I may have regarding pipes and pipe smoking. I have often been visiting your website - estatepipes co uk - and I'm sure I one day will find a nice addition for my collection. You are doing a great work in restoring old briar - a joy to see... Best Lars
Hi Lars, that was a really nice introduction, a nice good quality video. I'm looking forward to see your pipes and your surrounding which seems to be very nice! Best wishes for the new year, Dirk
Hi Dave,Thanks for your kind welcome, and thanks for asking about the walking sticks... Yes, it's some thing I do just for the fun and relaxing of it. I go for a lot of walks in the arear where I live and I often find some nice branches of Thorn , Willow and Ash that that are fit for walking sticks. I collect these during the winter time and store them for 1-2 years where after they make great raw material for doing the sticks. It's nothing fancy... All the best Lars
Hello Lars. What a fantastic introduction, I was spellbound from beginning to end. I can tell you will have a lot of experience to bring to this community through both your own personal smoking experiences and also being involved in the industry. I would also like to commend you on your grasp of the English language which was quite superb. To be able to talk like that off the cuff in a foreign tongue is a gift sir! Great to see a baccyflap appear in a video. What a fantastic invention. ~Alan
Very nice video. nice to meet you. I am fairly new to smoking a pipe. And have a lot to learn. But I enjoy it greatly. Been making videos trying to pass on what I do know. Again nice to meet you.
Good day, Lars! These are thoughts I absolutely agree with - slow pace and concentration on the smoke itself are what helps one experiencing smoking as an intellectual, nearly meditative exercise. These Bakelite-containers, by the way, are in very good taste. It is absolutely wonderful to actually see you around here! The 'pipe with a view' concept makes me look forward to your next uploads already. Thomas
Lars, you are very blessed to have a farm in the woods of Denmark. I envy you for your youth. My grand parents and great grand parents come from the dairy region bordering Denmark and western Germany. Sheschliholstein (I know it is not spelled properly). I spell by phonics since I speak only English and all my family is deceased and I have no one to ask. I love your video and hope you do more.
dont know how i found you, but this video and listening to you, i feel the same, and man the atmosphere in this video i absorbed it i feel like im there
Hello Lars! Congrats on your 'first' video. Good to finally see you and I'm looking forward to more videos. Good to hear that you are a photographer also. I'm on my 2nd year of studying photography! Well, take care and I see you around! Johan
Hi paisiusv, Thanks a lot for your kind welcome - I can see that you also are getting around to some nice places. The "higher grades" are often very nice - but, if you (like me) smoke a lot outdoors you learn to appreciate more rustic and not so expensive pipes... Anyhow, I look forward to show some of my pipes and places... Happy Christmas Lars
Hi Lars. First view and I must say, I really enjoyed your video, your calmness, philosophy etc. I share a lot of your opinions. Wish we could meet 😀👍. Thanks for great intro video.
Hello Lars. Just found your vids and I have to agree with the principle of smoking slowly and gently. I was having a bowl a couple of nights ago. Smoked very slowly the tobac tasted like chocolate...smoked a little faster the prune flavor of that blend came through...went back to very slow gentle sips and the chocolate was back. Slow and gentle is the key to pipe smoking for me.
+RockyMountainPrepper It's hard to explain but the slower the better as long as you can keep the pipe lit. The pipe should be on the verge of going out. It's a delicate balance but it comes with practice. You will find what works for you. Start with a sip every third breath. Speed up or slow down from there.
Hi Mark, Thanks for your welcome here, I'm happy to be onboard. I have also been enjoying your videos and hope to see more in the future. I will do my best to post when time allows for it... See you around Best Lars
Hello Keith, Thank you so much for your kind comments and warm welcome. I have been enjoying your videos for a while and I myst say that they are among my favorites. I look forward to seeing you around in the future... All the best Lars
Very nice to meet you. Looking forward to getting to know you a little better. Looks like you might have an interest in Blackthorns too? Stay well, Brother.
Welcome to the RUclips pipe community. I look forward to seeing and learning from more of your videos. I don't know if anyone else asked but I was curious about the walking sticks around you. Do you make them? ~Dave~
PS: I also am highly excited to see those 'nice pipes'. Perfect function, personal history and beauty of shape - these truly are well-chosen criteria, I find. I must say: Watching this video has brightened my day considerably.
Hello backcountrypipe, Thanks for welcoming me here - and yes, the lamps are quite nice - simpel and trusty, I'm sure you have something like these in your end of the world too... See you around Best Lars
Thank you so much Danno, I will do my best :-) And Blackthorns - yes very much, at least in the meaning of making walking sticks and canes - but the real Blackthorn does not grow here, too bad... Have a great new year All the best Lars
Hello Nathan, Thank you for your kind welcome and kind words - I have been looking at your videos also, and I think we are on the same track - looking forward to seeing you around... PS. I will PM you also... Have a great new year All the best Lars
Thanks Emile, I think we are on the same track here Making plans and decisions are better, more fun and a lot safer with one of your favorite briars by hand... See you around... Lars
Hello Ben, Thanks - Yes I would think that you will know about cold weather :-) Thanks for your welcome here, I will post from the shed again, for sure Have a great new year All the best Lars
Hi James Yes, I finally pulled my self together and made the "jump" - a small one actually, but I know you understand about being behind - and not in front - of the camera, and all the gear it can call for also. I try to keep it simple and fun. I look forward to share some of my nice pipes with you and our friends here - I think I have a few that will fall to your liking, having seen an edge of your nice collection. See you around Cheers Lars

What brand of pipe is the first pipe you are smoking?
Hi James
Yes, I finally pulled my self together and made the "jump" - a small one actually, but I know you understand about being behind - and not in front - of the camera, and all the gear it can call for also. I try to keep it simple and fun.
