It never ceases to amaze me just what some folk throw out, I would be jumping for joy had I found this.
Im so glad someone like you found it Nigel and saved it from the scrapyard. She looks a beauty!

I just bought one of these and I know stuff all about them. It looks like I need a washer kit for the pump and a mantle. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was a pressure lantern and that I had to have it.

Got a lovely shiny one from eBay, I am not sure that pyrex was the original glass as you have bialladin on yours.

I have this lamp but in green... Can't get any pressure so I am guessing the plunger is knackered.... Can you get replacement parts for them ?

I did that with my burmos blow lamp! Not enough meths and a fire liquid paraffin jet shot 10ft out opps! Very nice lamp there.

they say you cant leave thease do they or can they get brighter themselves what if you fall asleep ?? surely the pressure will run out if not primed to much

Should not be left unattended. As the pressure in the font drops the mantle will start to “ dim” . As the mantle “ dims” there may not be enough heat generated to vaporise the kerosene which could result in the kerosene squirting in liquid form into the mantle and catching fire ie as in a fireball instead of glowing in the mantle. I’m not saying this “ will” happen but the possibility is there. I have a Coleman that I ran until the pressure dropped but the light just went out. There was no fireball.
