    I think the writers had Fuches live because he's the only one who was able to come to terms with who he really was. Both Hank and Barry almost did, but either took too long or kept themselves in denial. I don't know if there's a similar message with Cousineau. I feel like it was either illustrating that he also never got over his demons or he was just adding to the lives Barry destroyed.

    This was a good episode, slow season but the shuttle messages were very good, favorite part was the raven diving on Barry’s kid then saying nothing while returning him and jogging into the darkness.

    I liked how every character gets their redemption in their own ways despite them being shortlived and overall "bad" for them. Barry decides to take responsibility for his actions and decides to turn himself in, Hank stands up and decides not to take the safe choice by refusing to hand over John and Sally, Fuches protects and returns John to Barry and decides to not pursue revenge, Sally admits who she is to John decides to stop hiding and Mr. C avenges Janet. However, none of these "redemptions" end up saving them nor does it excuse or forgive their actions that got them to that point

    • @nont18411
      @nont18411 Год назад +2

      All of these “redemptions” are half-assed, which is perfect and fits the message of the show that nobody really changes.
      - Barry was too late to take responsibility for his actions.
      - Hank still refused to admit that he had Cristobal killed.
      - Fuches might have saved John and let Barry live his life but he still ran away and not turning himself in as always.
      - Gene might have avenged Janice but at what cost? He could have got it all if he just let Barry turned himself in but his rage and ego ruined everything.
      - Sally might have connected to John more but she’s still a bad mother. Never say “I love you” back to her son and still concerns only about her own work. She also remains a hypocrite who expected Barry to take responsibility for his actions but not her own. She never turn herself in and never try to help Gene out of prison.

      @@nont18411 I agree. And thats why I liked the endings for each character. A glimmer of redemption for each of them that was probably personally meaningful but meaningless in the grand scheme of things

    16:20 I loved the foreshadowing the show did for the ending with Barry telling his son about how he learned more about people like Lincoln and Ghandi who are remembered for being these heroes and their great accomplishments and not the other terrible/questionable things they did. The ending comes full circle with Barry being remembered as a hero and not for the horrible things actually did

  • @everettenjeze6276
    @everettenjeze6276 Год назад +6

    Barry in my eyes redeemed himself in the end. He knew what he had to take responsibility and was going to do so, but gene being the dummy in the room not knowing that Barry was going clear his name took his own life. Barry getting buried with full military honors, his son and and society seeing him as a hero and a good person and inspiring others to be better then him is everything Barry wanted more then anything in the world. It’s incredibly hilarious, dark, and gives the main character his big win in the end despite it being in his death. It fits the tone of the show. Loved it

    Janice's Father likely didn't approve of her relationship w/ Gene. Over the seasons he saw how weak Gene was, a liar, an egotist who couldn't keep his mouth shut to secure Barry's conviction. When he learned about the $250k that Barry told him about, something not even the Police knew about, it was easy in his mind to pin everything on Gene since he'd already had his opinions about him. So much so, he immediately left his house, giving Barry a means of escape. Something Moss would've likely never done as meticulous as the show has shown him to be. The revelation was an easy leap for Moss to believe Gene was the killer all along that he ignored the rest of the evidence he'd built up for almost ten years.

    Enjoyed it immensely despite the tonal shifts. Kinda figured Hader would make it special, just didn’t realize his weird quirky nature would translate so well on screen but it did. Perfect vehicle. Heard he’s working on a horror film and I feel he has something interesting to bring to the genre.

      @gubarmy6714 Год назад

      I don’t understand people saying it’s rushed. It just gets straight to the point. And having another season would’ve made the show drag hardcore. After this.. there isn’t anything to explore unless you want 2 seasons that have the same exact main theme. It wouldn’t have worked. Every season of Barry has a main theme it is playing with. Season 1 is changing your purpose, Season 2 is changing your nature, Season 3 is about forgiveness, and Season 4 is running from your nature. Each season is a different stage of Barry’s denial. Just because they had a time jump doesn’t mean the show is rushed. Look at Better Call Saul, or Breaking Bad. Both of those shows when they make the time jump gets straight to the point. Granted those episodes are longer, but Barry is successfully able to break it down into 30 minutes, making more of a 4 hour movie than a TV show. Plus you have a 4 episode build that leads to the time jump. Sure it is jarring at first but when you rewatch it, it makes a lot of sense. There was never a reason to have the show spend more time in prison. And there was never a reason to show Barry and Sally run away. It would’ve killed the pacing even more which by the way still manages to pick itself up by the end.

    Horrible season doesn’t fit the tone of the show nor does the plot make any sense at all. Feels like they had no idea how to end the show and tried to do some sort of boring dark epilogue. Really let down by how Hader let his shown end. Show should just end after season 3.

    I'm going to miss Barry, it was a great journey. Bill Hader created something quite special.
    But honestly my biggest "problem" with season 4 wasn't even the season itself, it was the released schedule. Releasing the series alongside the final season of Succession and ending both series in the same day was a big disservice for Barry.
    I adore Barry but in my opinion Succession is one of the greatest television series of all time, I view Succession on the same tier as something like Breaking Bad. The released schedule made it hard to be fully invested on Barry when in my mind I was just thinking about the new episode of Succession instead. In all seriousness, It's a small nitpick but it did affect my experience with this season.

    Wow what an conclusion to the final episode of Barrel! I was really shocked when the story of Barry reached its pinnacle and the twist was revealed.
    Who would have guessed? Certainly not people who haven't seen a single episode of Barrel! Then the falling action and denouement really settled things
    into the mostly satisfying conclusion to Barrel! My biggest disappointment of the final episode of Barrel was knowing that it was over after being so invested in the story of Barrel!

    Bruv, what do you mean? I feel like they totally just rushed things in the final season. It was terrible. They made Barry a complete wussie, completely turned Fuches from a weak minded disloyal fool into a Sylvester Stallone type of vigilante (prob the best turnaround in a character, imo). Gene Cousineau & Sally were both just complete nutjobs, esp Sally! *Sigh* & speaking of, yet again Hollywood makes it where the woman of the show is the morally sound one that decides shes had enough & wants to do the right thing, while the man is completely comfortable with where hes at in terms of guilt & mental aspect of his character.. hollywood & this whole making the characters guilt overcome every fear that that character has & turn themselves in is so unrealistic man.. i mean yes, it isn't unheard of but at the rate that Hollywood is doing it... it most def is unrealistic. Anyway, the only character that stayed true to form is the most unnatural & one of a kind character from the start, sir NoHo Hank, aside from having his partner the love of his life Cristobal being unalived, although im sure Hank did not have a choice in that regards to Cristobal being "removed" from the show.. i love love love the first two seasons, season three was alright & season four i could have done without. In fact the entire show would have been fine imo if they ended it in season three just like that, with Barry being arrested & no follow up on any of the characters & that I'd been fine with over this mess of a final season. Cheers mate 🍻
