I worked for 25 years in the semiconductor manufacturing and automation business as an equipment engineer. I can tell you the amount of effort, time time and thought that went into this build is truly incredible. I am really impressed. There’s always room for improvement. Ultimately we’d like to see the B9 be the robot on the TV show. That said, I am truly impressed with your abilities and dedication. Thanks
@@DavidSchulpius It is true. The location makes B-9 even more futuristic. Great paint and lights. Communication and sequencing are authentic and fun. Thanks.
Amazing build. I loved watching Lost in Space as a kid way back when. It would be interesting to update B9's voice recognition using the latest AI technology so that you wouldn't have to be so precise in your verbal commands. Maybe even incorporate sensors such as vision recognition, distance/object recognition so that he can move around a room on his own without bumping into things, etc.
Great thinking. All those things are on my "someday" list. I've tried a few of them. The only problem is that the sensors needed to do a lot of that stuff are hard to hide so they don't interfere with the original "look" of the robot. Thanks for the interest.
Well Dave, That is incredible! If I wouldn't have followed the process my self I would not believe that is the same box of junk you started out with 2.5 years ago ! It has been great watching him be reborn! And even better then before! Thanks so much for sharing! I will be watching for the next project! Keep us posted on any update on your b9! 😊👍... Oh and THANKS Jeff For helping out the the filming! Good Job! 👍

What a wonderful memory blast to come across this. Dave it looks like you are a genius. The only issue I have is that your camera operator needs to blow his nose or step away from the camera as you can hear him breathing like Darth Vader. I know, I know, we all get colds and flu, but it was sometimes louder than Dave talking. But, the B9 is VERY impressive!
Lol. Ya, his breathing is a little loud. Other than that he did a great job. Thanks for watching and your kind words about my work. If you're interested I have lots of other videos of me building theses two B9 robots over the years.
GREAT WORK DAVE! I finally got around to watching this latest update. And to think I knew your robot when he lived back in WI and before he retired to Sunny FL to perfect all his tricks. Enjoy!

hi david whit a beard now and looking good . awesome B9 video off a B9 in action . the voice off the ezbv4 ' i have sucsessfull connected to your network " , chould be in B9 voice . thanks for sharing .
Hi EDP, Thanks for the kind words. All the voice clips I have installed in this robot are preformed by the original voice actor that did the robot's voice. I have permission to use them by the owner. The "connect to network" voice you hear is a built in recording that is hard scripted into the EZB that does that connection. There is no way I know of to replace it. Even if I could there are no voice clips or fragments in the Robot's voice that stat that connection. I hope this makes sense.
Thank you! I appreciate this. If you're interested I have many more RUclips videos of me building and restoring the two Lost in Space B9 robots I done over the years. Enjoy!
Fantastic work, the best there is! I'm curious as to how you learned these skills. If you don't mind my asking, I'd be interested to know what your background is (EE, self-taught, other)?
Thanks Enigma758. I'm actually self thought I guess. I learned a lot from others in many different forums and I have a background in Electrical Distribution (building/maintenance/control). I was a Linemen and then a lead linemen-coordinator for almost 40 years.
@@DavidSchulpius That's cool, thanks for sharing, you are obviously highly skilled and talented in what you do and your accomplishments are inspiring. The robot is a true work of art and a real tribute to the show and its fans!
Thanks and you're correct. I decided not to do that animation in this version of the robot. Manly because he can't lean forward and his arms are fixed in the straight forward position. However my personal B9 does do this. Look at some of my earlier videos. I show this very cool animation I built into that one.
@@DavidSchulpius By the way. I love your version of the robot. I always wanted one. I'm 57 and still watch reruns of Lost in Space on Saturday nights. Great work on the Robot!👍
Dave, back in 2019 I had open heart surgery. Whilst recovering, I discovered your original B9 videos and then later, when you received this one to "patch up" I followed your progress. Now and again, I revisit them. I cannot remember at the moment but did you ever publish technical and mechanical data for your arm designs? They were and are very nice work.
Hey, sorry about this long reply time on your question. I just now saw it. I hope you have recovered from your illness and are living a good and happy life. Thanks for watching my videos. To answer your question, no, sorry, I have not written up anything on either of my arm designs. It's all in my head on recorded in these videos. I probably should someday do something like that if for no other reason then to help in any repair or refirmious work needed in the feature. Added to that, I have rebuilt or upgraded many parts of these arms. I've tried to catch all these in these videos. Thanks for asking.
Fantastic Dave. So many questions though, but I’ll save them till I get to those parts of my build. Curious though, why are you not using the crown spinner?
Thanks Herb. The answer to why I;m not spinning the crown is that I was limited in what I could do based on how the robot was built when I received it. To get more action like the crown spinning. bubble moving up and down or the finger lights moving I would have had to scrap the head section that was sent with the robot and rebuilt a new one. This would have added a lot of time to the build and lots more money charged to the owner. Thanks for your interest. I hope your B9 is doing well!

Nice job on the robot build, very well done. Wouldn't it have solved a lot of your problems and saved time by just putting Jeff in the robot? Also, Jeff seems to start breathing heavy when the robot moves around, was he worried the robot might attack?
This was a "rebuild" of an already existing robot a friend sent me to work on. Granted I had to add many new parts and rebuild many others to fit properly. That work cost well over a few thousand. If you want to build one for yourself I've seen builders spend anywhere from a few hundred dollars to well over 10K. It all depends on how you want to to turn out. Feel free to join the The B9 Robot Builders Club's Facebook group here: facebook.com/groups/b9robotbuildersclub/ . There's a guy right now that is building a B9 on a low budget out of a fire pit. Specifically, this clip: ruclips.net/video/YaYWlJJ6Co8/видео.html&t Before seeing that video, I used to claim that was a sure way to determine if it was a performer inside a costume as opposed to animatronic mechanism because the latter could not swing around the arms like that in addition to fully pulling them inward. Yet you demonstrated it COULD be done with robotics! I hate to say it, but in a (very minor) way, this is almost a step backwards. What happened?
