"one drop" refers to "dropping the one" entirely, not to "emphasis on the three." Adding a pulse on the one refers to "stepper." style.

I don't know if being dyslexic is a blessing in disguise whrn it comes to Reggae? In the 90's, it wasn't "cool" to listen to the Police, but I heard "Walking on the moon". I was flawed! The 1/4 note trips on the click, with 2 & 4 on the bass, along with a shuffle. Dam, I first thought it was an effect. I brought it to my drum teacher at the time, and he was super excited I picked it out from radio play. Soon after, I got police greatest hits, and it just came easy to me. About the time they had the reunion tour, I saw an ad for a drummer. BAM, got the gig, and had a blast. IDK if Copland would fit in, in Jamaica. He's one of my favorites, and with all his skill, ability etc, he is pretty high strung. I'm sure he'd be great, but wonder how his style would go with that "mellow feel" I'd love to see it, I'd also love to go to Jamaica too, head up to the trees, and jam with some legit islanders. Also, I wanna thak you! I've learned a ton from your vids. Thanks for putting em up!

When practicing reggae with a metronome I'd say it's best to begin on the upbeat and use quarter instead of eighth notes. That way you actually get the 'skank guitar' feel from the metronome while learning to locate the the exact middle point between the beats. You get your timing down AND you develop a pocket. Two birds with one stone.

why do every one who is not from JAMAICA thinks that the reggae on the drums is played on the third beat of the bar, it is on the two and four for the one drop. If you count it in eight notes you will get it on the third beat but reggae is counted in quarter note so the kick and snare is falling On two and four.
