On at least a 16" 2.5k (WQXGA) is sharp enough. I can imagine it's not that much less as good on an 18'" display. So yeah, just give us 2.5k and stick with that. No need to overburden the system than you have to. Only advantage for 4k is to be able to use 1080p, but then the display has to support dual resolution natively for it to look good.
Excited about Thunderbolt 5 as the only way to get above 40gbps eGPU performance is through Oculink, so hopefully most who implement the TB5 spec will stick to giving as much as possible, instead of handicapping their product. Looking forward to getting the Blade 18 just so I can test out TB5 and replace the OS with something decent like LMDE6 or Gentoo.
Is there a Acer Predator Helios 18’ laptop at CES? Would love to see their booth looks like arguably the best laptop of 2024 if improved cooling from last year and upgradability.
This is quite possibly the most beast laptop ever it can run 3 4K displays at once! 200 4K FPS on a single screen, potentially 100 FPS on multiple screens?
I'll never understand why gaming laptops need 4k, the screens are simply too small to differentiate from 2/2.5k. You get lower fps, lower refresh rate and pay more money, it's a lose-lose.
I asked Razer about this, and they didn't know if they would still sell a 240 hz QHD+ version or not. I hope they do. I would prefer it if it is the same display stats.
I love my Blade 18 2023. 2K is plenty for me in a laptop. I do wish mine had the webcam block. Thunderbolt 4 has been plenty for 2 monitors, keyboard, mouse, and ethernet. Do not really need anything else.
Man, I really, really hope they still offer the 1600P panel as an option. 4K on a laptop is a complete waste other than one thing - Netflix. Because at 4K, Netflix can be viewed without all the compression wave artefacts in dark scenes, which no other Streaming service can do on Windows. That's it. For gaming it is pointless. Other than aliasing in certain titles, you need to be gaming closer than 2 feet to see ANY difference between 4K and 1440P on a 17 or 18 inch panel. Stresses out the mobile 4090 for no reason. Heck, some modern games can't even do 4K/60 native ultra everything on a DESKTOP 4090. I play almost everything at 1440P on my GT77 to save noise and heat as there's just no point at the 3 or so feet distance I play at to play in 4K. A mobile 4090m is not STRONG enough to do 4K in all titles anyway, without DLSS or in some cases even frame gen. On my 28"gaming monitor, THERE I can see a clear difference between 4K and 1440P on the consoles. Ok, if you are outputting to an external screen, sure, but why 4K on the internal? All it does is cause more problems with high DPI incompatibilities, and stresses the GPU to the absolute max. I play 1440P and lock at 72 FPS (half the refresh rate) and enjoy silent gaming, legitimately silent in quiet mode on the GT77. For any game. the 4K panel on the MSI is actually my biggest regret out of the entire laptop, I so wish it was 1440p, seriously! Cause to play 1440P in most titles I need to play in full screen so it's not quick to go back to the OS and other apps and back like it is at native resolution. My honest 2c on the matter after owning a 4K laptop for the first time. Previously I had 1600P and before than 1080P.
Hopefully the final version will be mini LED or OLED in the best of cases with a glossy finish like the 16, the colors in the 16 are amazing, the other brands the 18 models are mini LED
Mini led is cheap to produce but has a few issues. Asus has single zone technology, which is protietary. So it hard to compete when mini led needs single zone or the ability to turn itself back to a lcd for productivity work. Oled would have made more sense for razor, but you also need a manufacturer to produce them for you.
I have a Blade 18 2023. The left Twitter stopped working and it was replaced 3 times and repaired 5 times. It is on every device, probably the 2024 device is also there. Razer is under warranty, but they cannot fix the defect. It is impossible to play competitive games. The sound only comes from the right side. Even though the product is defective, they do not provide a refund or replacement of the product with a different model. I recommend you to buy a different brand instead of buying a Razer. You will be disgraced with your money.
So basically no practical uses for the need of the thunderbolt5 ? lol But it's cool to see the latest and greatest if you're the type to chase the latest and greatest.
Many 4K displays this year, it’s so waste for this little displays. It’s only Expensive and needs more performance. Don’t get it, we don’t have RTX 5000 or 6000
Well, I’d say the Blade 18 is pretty thin and light for an 18”. You could get this with 4060 and use EGPU if you don’t need as much power on the go. But yeah, this is obviously huge compared to like the 14” thin and lights
Just picked up 2024 mercury white 4090 blade 18 4k and couldnt be happier with my choice
It’s good but it’s gonna cost like 8000€ here in France 😥
Gonna be at least 5000£ here in the UK, the MSI Titan 18 is at 4700£ right now
Cheaper to fly to the US and back 😂😅
Also here in Switzerland.
Personally, I'd rather have mini LED or OLED. 2.5k res was fine. MSI's new 18 inch offers 4k and mini led. Asus Rog Scar 18 also offers mini led.
yeah, that's what I told Razer and MSI I would like as options in their 18" laptops.

by default thunderbolt5 is 80/80GB bidirectional then cuts in half the bandwidth going in 1 direction so it becomes 120/40GB.
So can egpu use 120/40 or will it need 80/80?

what do you use this OS for ?
@@sekharmenonk8462 I use LMDE6 or Gentoo as just my daily OS. Haven’t used windows since 2012

You should've pulled the switcheroo and taken the Blade 18 home. 😊
Haha, I joked about that, probably could have pulled it off, but then been banned from razer reviews for life lol
4k is a waste of frames but nice that they added the webcam shutter I guess.

@@v5k456jh3 exactly my point. 1080 is quite ok for 17.3”. 2k would have been nice, but tbh I dont think I would see a difference.

Will you be reviewing the the blade 18 2024 ?🙏🏻
Will it be able to do 240hz at lower resolutions like 2k? Or 1080p? If not I might just get the 2023 version

I wonder why they didn't put the new Blade 16 display on the 18 chassis.
cuz samsung doesnt have 18 oled for them

Awesome ❤❤❤
Will it be charged by thunderbolt 5?
No, not enough power throughput for 330W stable current delivery. Thunderbolt 5 caps out at 240W.
im just excited by thunderbolt 5
is the CPU crippled to 45W tdp like the older ones?
Huh? My Blade 18 has never been crippled to 45W
Cant wait it to see it getting beaten by a razer 16 with a -mv on cpu

Omg, again 4k and again no numerical keypad 🤦🏻♂️ why? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
TB5 is a killer though 💪🏻
Bruh, i don't like numpad on a laptop tbh. It just makes the laptop keyboard not centered

I've never used the numpad.

This doesn't seem as useful on a giant laptop that isn't going to be portable anyway. Need TB5 on a thin and light to plug into a 4090 at home.

This will be so overpriced, 165Hz LCD in 2024 is simply unimpressive. It became just another Apple and they'll sell you the brand mostly
Its 4k you idiot the screen alone is worth like $600 bucks.
They need to make it aluminum. I had magnesium it scratches and its just junk.
It’s cnc aluminum
Razor here lol... This year we're add more money to laptops. Well what does that mean Mr.Razor man? Just shut up and buy.
