Plus you can trust that your interests are aligned. It’s nice to watch you two together, especially if Demeri is not around keeping you two out of the hospital! I really enjoy your videos guys.
Guys, you're channel (and lives) are about to blow up... Word of advice; don't ever get too polished... It's being real people that has us all tuned in. I'd love to see you get bigger than diesel bros and that's saying something... Mad respect that entire crew but especially the Dave's
Okay being a Chevy enthusiast I appreciate the love we give our Ford friends & Hillbilly is a great guy his Broncstar deserves the same love a man's passion is not to be messed with it's the eb & flow of a good life, Matt's little Suzi need's a Chevy tritan V6, that hood is a real gem lol, great video thank's for sharing ❤😉👍
Bosch had a good rep here in the UK many years ago, well before you could get other well made/known brands. Couldn't say what they're like now but I'd be happy to use them.
Hey Robbie little tip/trick of the trade - when using a bender such as the jd2 or jd32. You never use center of the bend to measure always find the tangent line...you can find that by finding where the bend starts on each die, use some grease on the die and bend a couple peices of tube… you will notice where the bend starts, mark that on each die. each die will always have a start of the bend…- Mark it and then measure. Once you figure that out it’s easy. Also always start from the middle and go out. But using your tangent lines as markers for bends. Typically each tube and die size i always pre made a pre bent 90 and a prebent a 45. With my tangent lines marked it was super easy to measure out tubes, bend starts and so forth. Once you see on the die where the bend starts I typically would put a grind mark on the die. It wont move. So you can always line your marks up as such. If that makes sense.
@bsagreg well do you use a bender? And do you know what the tangent line is? If you bend a tube on these benders… the die will show where the bend starts.. using that mark/tangent line/start of bend its pretty easy to start marking bends out… but you also always bend from the middle out if your doing a 3-4 bend loop.. Robbies a smart guy… just wanted to give him a simple tip that will make his life much easier. No biggy…
@bsagreg oh for sure.. the pre brents always work well to have. But what i was tryen to explain is the tangent lines and how to read them on the tube. The start of the bend and the end of the bend aren’t the same on these benders… and if you use the tangent line of the start of the bend, which you can mark on each die by using some grease and seeing where the bend starts at… and then using that tangent line to use all starting measurements from, you will always be able to get precise measurements when bending… i was just tryin to be helpful i guess.. but oh well.
It is coming along very well there. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friends. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Fab on. Weld On. Keep making. God bless.
Good vid, love the bronco build and the Samurai. Would be cool to see a full resto vid, even a bunch of short clips cut together explaining from sand blaster to final paint. What grit sandpaper, what coats of paint, how many coats of paint, type of bog used, all the tools needed and related to doing a back to bare metal resto from a body work perspective (not rust repair)
@Robby Layton, I think you're going to like the Bosch stuff especially if they threw in a few 4A and 8A core 18v packs and fast chargers in there. I have a lot of them and feel that they are underrated in the tool world; good, reasonably powerful, reliable tools that get the job done time after time deserve their place on our workbenches. The ergonomics and balance of their tools are great, I really like the precise trigger speed control and gyro/accelerometer feature of their drills. (If your bit grabs, the power cuts out and brake kicks in before the drill can swing and do any damage at all, much less throw you off your balance if you're working at height.) But my favorite of all is their one handed reciprocating saw; a mighty beast in a small, easy to maneuver format that fits in tight places.
Sure getting excited about the Wrecker games. I'm sure everyone will be videoing for those of us that can't make it. My husband can't get off due to staff shortage- hopefully he only works 16 hours today. Hope everyone from visitors to participates have a great, safe time. We'll be watching from Oklahoma. Stay safe and GOD bless
WHEN BENDING TUBING WITH A JD SQUARED STYLE BENDER, MAKE SURE THE WELD SEAM IS FACING UP!!!! That way you are not asking the welded seam to shrink or stretch. With the weld seam facing up, it is placed on the neutral axis.
I've got a full kit of Bosch Blue and I love it. You have to be careful with the impact drivers because even the small one will break screws. In fact, I use my Bosch Green 18V impact gun for wood screws because it is powerful enough without being too powerful. My favourite is a big corded router which never stalls and has micro adjustment. I'd like to get a smaller skill saw if I can work out which one works with the Bosch guide rail. I have a big 18V skill saw, but it's a touch heavy for some jobs.
Love the video, Hillbilly is doing a great job he wants to learn as much as he can. Robby you are a great teacher keep on going. Hope you made up for the valentine
I agree with Hillbilly on the bronco 2 being a sweet offroader if built correctly. But Hillbilly i personally think a built cobra jet between the frame rails would be sick
This just shows how dedicated Robbie is to doing the best job he can in the day we live in most people would be happy to do a half a@& job cause nowadays people just don’t know what hard work is
You need to get out more if this is what you think. Craftsmanship and pride in one's work is still very much a thing - if you aren't shopping around for the cheapest possible solution.
Lots of interesting projects going on, Robby and crew. Nice work growing your channel! Seems to me, you and your team have that "special sauce" needed to be a successful You Tubers! Good stuff to come, I'm sure!
You had better take your wife out for a good dinner. Once on a road trip I broke down outside a company yard. I walked into the mechanic shop to get help. After pulling the truck in and inspecting the damage, the mechanic ordered parts. He informed me that I owed him big time. I told him to call his wife and meet us at the nicest restaurant in town. We had a very good dinner, after getting the parts and installing. I was back on the road. Everyone was happy.
In piping/tubing, you call the outside ends of the bends "straight flanges". A great rule of thumb is to make the straight flange the same length as the nominal dimension as the pipe. So a 2" 45° bend would have 2"SF. If you get into the habit of cutting the straight flanges of your templates the same lengths all the time, you will have a nice sharpie mark where the transition between the bend and the straight sections occurs. That will make measuring the straight sections between the roll cage bends super easy to reproduce, and you won't ever need to calculate the arc lengths. Another tip is to use cardinal angles for your bends (except for the ones that have to be specific). So start with 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°... And when you want more, add 15°, 22.5°, and/or 10°. Those are generally the bend angles that are used to make things when a design layout is done on CAD. That's when you need to figure out when the bend length represents the centerline, ID, or OD. Arc length = 2π(bend radius)(bend angle/360). Easiest way to fab is cut segments with one bend, and start long, so you can cut them to length just before welding. BTW, tubing is used more than pipe for roll cages because easier bending/less expensive because thinner wall, and because the nominal OD is the nominal size of the tube, unlike pipe. That makes figuring out the bend radius a lot easier.
Rear crossmember could be 8” pipe tubing. Seal the ends and Voila 🎉 you have an air-tank. The round profile of the pipe helps you ease over obstacles also.
just a heads up when matt says its only temporary, like its gonna get fixes properly later....means its not gonna happen and what you are doing will stay on it for years and years or until it brakes
Bosch has decent stuff, their brushless lines on a lot of the drivers and impacts are great. They have less mechanic specialty tools, they seem to focus more on the construction side of things. The newer CORE 18v batteries are awesome for the big draw items like the angle grinders and stuff. I really like their 12v impacts and mini recip saws though too.
Hi guys, awesome video , as usual> Many years ago so memory is vague but I worked for a steel company and we used to use a lot of bender machines and there is a relatively easy formula for getting any bend in the right place to the millimetre, I can't recall the numbers now but I am sure with a bit of searching the net and you'll find it. We used to to twist and bend Rebar and though it might not look it Rebar had to be accurate to the millimetre! Also of course pipework for all kinds of applications domestic and commercial so as clever guys like your selves it should be no problem.
Here near Gainesville Raceway the Gatornationals usually make finding a Room a little more difficult that is also the weekend of Wrecker Gamers 9th,10th & 11th. We live within 10 miles of raceway so our issue is more family calling to stay over, but having 40 acre farm we dont mind, Harbor Freight has a Portable Solar Charging station complete with Solar panel

Might want to pick up some conduit to make test bends with as you are bound to make some mistakes while learning how to make stuff with the bender. It’ll save you time and money, especially when doing multiple bends that aren’t all on the same plane.

@ 15:18 Robby confirms that this will be "the first annual Off-Road Wrecker Games" !!!! It's now on record.! Of course the pre-show hype/news seems to indicate a lot of interest.
Changed to Bosch last year when everyone went red or green yellow etc. Good stuff, hope you received the brush less . Dont know a thing about sand paper.
Robby I was watching the latest Broncstar build video and I saw your battery powered mobile bender it's Cool! but for the Battery you should be using a Lithium Ion car type battery 100 Ah the reason is that lead acid type batteries only can put out about 50% of their available power whereas the Lithium type go closer to 95 percent they have an incredible run time. Lot's of them available on Ebay. They are more expensive but well worth it also they make higher current small chargers for either type. The faster the recharge the more work can be done.
I'm pretty sure that Flex drill has the "Anti-Kickback" feature that stops it when it senses the bit binding. My Dewalt has the same feature and when you change to a lower gear the thing will break your wrist, I found this out the hard way because I keep the male code of conduct alive by not reading the instructions!
Love your content 😁. The editor is awesome. I used sia abrasives for years in metal polishing and loved the product 👍. Keep up with the awesome videos.
Guessing that you will like the Bosch tools, the quality of their manufacturing and assembly is great - really tight tolerances. The only thing to be aware of is that Bosch doesn't make copy cat tools. Quite often their controls will be a little bit, sometimes a lot of bits different than other tools made for similar tasks. Often times there is an improvement made that will allow you to do something quicker, better more efficiently, but sometimes it will just be Bosch being different just because they're Bosch - sort of like what Mercedes and BMW do with their car builds - especially engines. Playing with new tools is usually awesome, have fun! 😃
Robby, it's hard to make a silk purse out of a pig's ear, but if anyone can put some make up on one, you guys can do it! And we are glad to hear that the thieves who stole your brother's stuff have been identified and now face justice! Looking forward to seeing Hillbilly's Bronc Star come together, and seeing your new Jeep off road build come together! When is Dinner coming back? We miss seeing him!
It’s great to see hillbilly try out body work! It’s perfect to learn on that type of work instead of a customers car but I’m sure he would do good on that too with your guidance while he learns
Need to use a cheese grater to cut down on the sanding of the Bondo. Might want to invest or ask a sponsor for a portable vacuum system that would significantly reduce the amount of dust from sanding the Bondo. You guys completed a lot of work that wore out this arm chair critic. Good job.
Hillbilly is right....in 2014, GM debuted a 4.3L 90-degree V6 for the Silverado trucks based on the LS engine architecture! The engine is a direct injection engine running 11:1 compression and rated at 285 horsepower and 305 ft. -lbs. of torque.
That samurai looks like it was trashed and thrashed before Matt got ahold of it! Dang! Must be hard not being able to do the amazing job that you're used to.
Every time I hear Robby talk about a new hood for the Samurai, I'm reminded of Matt's "it's temporary until it's not" line.
Nothing is more permanent than a temporary solution that works
I've been a fan of Bosch tools for decades -- that stack made me drool. You're a lucky man, Robby

Good job copying and pasting your Google search 👍. It's still not an LS.
@@brianpowers6327 You are welcome!

My Toyota is based on the space shuttle challenger.
I love how Robby's "shit" body work (that he's vocally critical of) is better than many "professional" shops work.
Better than anything I've ever done...or ever will do.
I can see the pain in Robbys eye doing that halfway body work 😆
For sure I’m surprised he hasn’t started with the uncontrollable twitches my wife goes he’s coming in after filming and doing it proper

The V6 out of a Sidekick was popular engine conversion here in the UK on those Suzuki's.

How do you young bucks know so much? and you guys have mad skills. Thanks
Thank you
9:05 so much room for a coyote swap😮
Wow Robby i totally heard that /s "Yeah great idea." 😇
0:07 Moab? Gonna stop by My Friend Pete's shop? That would be one wild colab.
It’s great to see hillbilly try out body work! It’s perfect to learn on that type of work instead of a customers car but I’m sure he would do good on that too with your guidance while he learns
I did the same thing used a log splitter type ram and 12v hydrologic pump off a power pole puller truck it's sweet and I can bend things mobile.
Need to use a cheese grater to cut down on the sanding of the Bondo. Might want to invest or ask a sponsor for a portable vacuum system that would significantly reduce the amount of dust from sanding the Bondo. You guys completed a lot of work that wore out this arm chair critic. Good job.
Love the SIA abrasives stuff! Try the sponges...they rock!
Yes they do! I want a v6 LS for my Scout..
I bent a little roll bar tubing and used some half inch aluminum fuel line to make a pattern and also an angle finder.
Hillbilly is right....in 2014, GM debuted a 4.3L 90-degree V6 for the Silverado trucks based on the LS engine architecture! The engine is a direct injection engine running 11:1 compression and rated at 285 horsepower and 305 ft. -lbs. of torque.
Lol tryin to hide the Limo!
Hey there Robbie you should layout your design of the tube on a place on the concrete floor or flat table
Thanks I know how to do this because I used to build handrails when I was in my 20's
When I win Matt's off road recovery door, can you please seal coat it, to preserve all of your signatures
I am sure we can arrange that!!
That samurai looks like it was trashed and thrashed before Matt got ahold of it! Dang! Must be hard not being able to do the amazing job that you're used to.
I wish i could afford to go to the offroad wrecker games , this Marine just cant afford it but that would be awesome trip .
The Boss is a Saint!!
