Thank. you so much. I used your review to help me remember how to set my tent. I'm taking it on a five day backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The little things you mentioned, like leaving some extra ground cover in the front for your boots are great!
Run seam sealer over all sewn spots. This should waterproof the tent. I worked at a retail store that carried eureka, (90s) and they used to include a bottle. Don't know if they still do or not. They used to carry a couple 4 pole domes that were more subdued colors. The Wind River was burgundy floor and grey fly, and the Outpost was black floor and grey fly. Both had white walls. The Timberline series had an outfitter model that was darker green than the standard model. So they have gone for " lower visual impact" in the past. (I'm surprised I can still remember the details)
I've got the fiberglass poles and they are now curved about like those aluminum ones. Great tent for motorcycle camping when you've got to get somewhere. Bright green? How about camo. The new tent looks a bit taller on the entry end, probably a good thing. Never any rain in my old Solitaire and I've been in a couple of real downpours.
This will handle some geo storms . I left the front rain fly open where you lay your head while it rained heavly and it barely got any rain inside. Wish they had an all black, grey, navy blue ,or dark green, but its still a nice color.
2 reasons for the brighter colors. One, to aid in a SAR situation and two, in a camping area, it's a billboard. Disappointing to those who wish to stealth camp but anymore folks are retail driven and unable to land navigate. Just leaves a little tuning for those of us who wish to truly get away.
Good review. 100% agree with you on the color. I just do not get why manufacturers use such flashy colors, they all do it! Such a deal breaker for me...
Yeah i used to hate the bright colors till i ended up in a survival situation with almost no visiablity, then i was so happy my tent was bright Orange,i wouldve been screwed if it hadnt been
Bright colors to also avoid hunting accidents. Nothing like having your tent shot full of holes while you’re inside just because thing blends into the trees too well.
good review ,,,the zipper on top is so you can leave the fly off, for night sky watching ,,and if need it on,,,, you don't have to get out to put it on
My old Solitaire fiberglass poles are now bent almost as much as the new aluminum. I don't have a problem with the colors and like my old tent very much.
I called the company and asked the same question. they said this was suppose to be an emergency tent. The neon green and the original yellow is suppose to be easier to see from the air. I asked them to make it in brown or some other color that does not stand out so much.
@@enricorizzo9318 I really like the idea of putting a tarp over the tent. Guaranteed water proof and you could move it as a sun shelter or wind break when you are outside the tent.

i camped in this in a hurricane storm, 74mph / 120kmh winds and it stood while trees got uprooted. it's very good...

Been looking into a small backpacking tent and was curious about this. I appreciate the review! Great job.

I think they do it in bright colors to help visibility in case of survival situations.

Hey Great Video 👏 How has the Eureka Solitaire held up since you made this?
My old Solitaire fiberglass poles are now bent almost as much as the new aluminum. I don't have a problem with the colors and like my old tent very much.
Why is it still neon? They should just make it camo or at least brown or even black.

I got a brown tarp from Walmart I hang around mine little more shelter and it'll hide ya

I agree! Plus, if you end up needing to be more visible for whatever reason, you can be
The weight on the bag does not include tent pegs
Why not just manufacturer it in camouflage, I feel the same way you do, too many flashy colors

The 2 pounds 10 ounces is minimum weight, so without stakes or poles.
Mine was with poles and stakes
