I think android apps can help with offline usage. windows office for example. yeah you can just use the web browser version but if internet is not available you can use the onboard android app. being able to do more offline with Android apps was why I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a chromebook
security is good, but security isn't really the issue, the isssue is some people try to change the settings and destroy their pc... chromebooks are also pretty dumb proof in the setting menu!!! highly recomended
Intel annoyingly throws both Braswell and Broadwell under the Celeron umbrella these days, a dual core Broadwell Celeron smokes the experience of a quad core braswell one like this. Even at a modest clock for the former.
If Google merged chrome os and android and made it more productive where you can run Unity(Make a deal with Unity) and other things like Photoshop with a device that can compete with surface I would switch from Windows in a heartbeat.
Is it possible to have the full Microsoft package on cromebooks with ms publisher, and it able to easily connect to all wireless printers? Was going to get the macbook for college but this looks interesting and a lot cheaper. Also do they have the normal ports like USB 3, hdmi?
Hi Mis... Greeting for the day.May I kindly get some assistance from that is how can I watch all sort of videos or features from various website as I'm often face such problem & I'm using samsung/galaxy neo only. Ur kind reply is highly expected.Thnx.
Sounds like most Android apps will respond to a cursor (whether trackpad or mouse) ? I don't do games at all so I'm thinking the new HP 13 Chromebook will run Play Store apps fine for the most part
Hi Lisa, I bought an R11 recently and swore blind that I was able to install the Microsoft Word app on it. The other day I had an OS failure and had to reinstall and reenable the Google store. When I came to install the Word app, it was listed as incompatible with my device. Are you able to confirm? Many thanks, Lee
i have the same chromebook, with the same design, just not a touch screen!! whenever i download an app from google play, it says the app will soon be installed and added on my device, and then 1 month after i search everywhere for it, and it's nowhere!!!
I have an Acer non-touchscreen chromebook with full HD display, 4GB ram and a Tegra K1 processor so how the heck is my device not in the list yet damn it..
i just got an update for my chromebook ...i have the Acer CB3-111, and i tried to download an android app just to test it , but intead installing the app on my chromebook , its installing on my android smartphone, and my chromebook doesn´t show on my devices list when i try to download the app..!! hmm strange..!!
I have a little bit older chromebook. I downloaded Snapchat just fine until i tried logging in and was notified that Google Play services stopped playing and I couldn't log in because of it. Anything I can do to get Google play services going again?
It is said that you can install Android video editing apps on Chromebook now. But what are the best Android video editing app for Chromebook, does any one have a list?
which one is better? this or asus? I need mobility tablet for office and subtitle maker, I only play low/med game when I don't have a work to do. is chromebook a good choice for me?
k guys so i downloaded an android game on my chromebook and in order to play, i somehow need to mimic leaning on a phone... any ideas on how to do this???
Okay I just got a Acer Chromebook 11 CB3-132-C9M7 and i'm trying to get on the play store but it keeps saying GMS service unavailable does anyone know what to do?
I just purchased the acer r11 and I love it, but I would like to know how to run other apks. Also, the android version of Word does not run on this, does anyone know how to get that to run on this.
Just as suspected it to be, it seems to run similar to Bluestacks which is slower and hardly can play games that require you to move around. Yeah, I'll think I'll wait for it to get better.
What, Android apps run natively, no emulation going on here as such they run just fine, in fact in most cases faster as ChromeBooks tend to have faster chips than Android tablets. Games as well. now, this is an Intel ChromeBook as such some games like Asphalt 8 won't work, however they work just fine on the Asus Flip, an ARM based ChromeBook. Load times are also faster with an ARM CPU.
I really want a chromebook that has google play but sence my mom is getting me a tablet she doesn't want to buy me a new chromebook. If my mom would of buy me one i would pick ace chromebook R11
+TheZaman1983 Except for games, every single app in the Play Store can be used with a mouse, so I don't get your point. Most people who will want to use Android will get a touch ChromeBook anyway, so this would have been a non-issue even if Android didn't support a mouse, which it does.
Yes of course, it's amd Android app, people, this is a fully working Android computer, sure, apps that require GPS won't work but that's obvious. Everything else works just fine, Depending on the CPU, everything works fine, though getting an ARM based ChromeBook will assure better support as not all apps can be ran on a Intel chip but this is exactly the same as if you had a Intel based phone or tablet.
Yes of course, think of this as any other Android tablet, though I would recommend getting an ARM based ChromeBook, just because there are more apps available.
Huh, that doesn't make any sense, there is only one binary pure OS, if you want the Windows version, you download the Windows binary, Android, the Android binary and so on and so forth.
+Charles Alden that's the old 'if it hurts when you do that, them don't do that' response from a doctor. If what you said were actually true, Jody wouldn't ask you what system you're using upon configuring it. Before responding and saying "but if you're using a Chromebook, you choose PC", think about my question first, then think about what she said about what apps work and don't work, based on GPS, etc.. Kodi doesn't have those things, so hypothetically, it should work regardless, but if so, then why do they ask which system you're using? So it's your response that doesn't make sense.
I'm sure you'll still be able to get it, just wait until the Chromium OS project is updated with Google Play, once that is done you'll be able to install Chrome OS with Android support on almost anything . I'm which case I would recommend getting a Hybrid laptop with at least an i5 and 8GB of RAM.
It's because it's not touchscreen, google first allowed the asus flipbook with a phone processor and and touchscreen, then the r11 and chromebook pixel both have intel cpu's and touchscreens. next are the chromebooks without touchscreens... honestly... Many developers havn't incorperated a mouse and keyboard interface yet, so It's not ideal for non touchcreen chromebooks yet.
+Matt Mayden There are actually quite a few models that have touchscreens, HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer, etc. all make them. Though your right, using a mouse with many of the Android apps available isn't a big issue as it works quite well.
Lisa, you are the absolute best. Been subscribed for a while and still get excited when I'm notified that there's a new vid from you.
I think android apps can help with offline usage. windows office for example. yeah you can just use the web browser version but if internet is not available you can use the onboard android app. being able to do more offline with Android apps was why I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a chromebook
Actually when you download Pokemon Go on to any device your life will crash and burn.
Nah, I only play it when I'm walking the dog.
that is hulareas and true
Your reviews are absolutely FANTASTIC!!!! Thank you again!
Omg Lisa I just noticed you got a ton of subscribers! Nice review by the way, are you going to be reviewing the one plus 3?
How good is the security on chromebooks? I want to get one for my aunt who isn't very tech savvy.
Security is amazing on chromebooks, you cant get viruses at all and VPN extensions are upper easy to install, its one of their biggest advantages.
security is good, but security isn't really the issue, the isssue is some people try to change the settings and destroy their pc... chromebooks are also pretty dumb proof in the setting menu!!! highly recomended
Security is amazing
you should compare this version of Chrome OS with Remix and tell us which one you like better?
Lisa , which smart watch are you recommending these days ?
That depends on what phone you use.
+MobileTechReview iPhone 6s +
+Tracy Lustick the apple watch is the obvious choice
+Tracy Lustick it works well with the iPhone
Intel annoyingly throws both Braswell and Broadwell under the Celeron umbrella these days, a dual core Broadwell Celeron smokes the experience of a quad core braswell one like this. Even at a modest clock for the former.
ANOTHER GREAT REVIEW!!!
If Google merged chrome os and android and made it more productive where you can run Unity(Make a deal with Unity) and other things like Photoshop with a device that can compete with surface I would switch from Windows in a heartbeat.
2:20 I just love hearing you say "asfault".
Why don't you have an affliate link to the Chromebook in your description?
Maybe Windows 10 and it's universal windows platform might be a better choice.
hector carpintero windows 10 will be parallel to chrome OS, they don't compete.
Instead of choosing between the two, you should have both.
hector carpintero naw it sucks
Is it possible to have the full Microsoft package on cromebooks with ms publisher, and it able to easily connect to all wireless printers? Was going to get the macbook for college but this looks interesting and a lot cheaper. Also do they have the normal ports like USB 3, hdmi?
Google is going for the killing blow with their upcoming Chromebooks. A certain fruit company better be worried.
*cough* Apple *cough*
A/an certain fruit a day makes you broke
+The Great Papyrus Yeah. Apple is overpriced bs.
Which upcoming chromebooks?
Chromebooks arent trying to compete with macbooks wtf
Hi Mis... Greeting for the day.May I kindly get some assistance from that is how can I watch all sort of videos or features from various website as I'm often face such problem & I'm using samsung/galaxy neo only. Ur kind reply is highly expected.Thnx.

Wow you have some very nice handwriting, especially on a touchscreen!
Since when did you start doing chome os I like it
Any chance of you reviewing the Samsung Chromebook Pro and its passive stylus with Infinite Painter Android App from an artist's point of view?
Omg Linda's handwriting is so legible and beautiful
This is wonderful. Thanks so much
I have an Acer non-touchscreen chromebook with full HD display, 4GB ram and a Tegra K1 processor so how the heck is my device not in the list yet damn it..
I love your videos!
Hey Lisa could you do a review for Twomon USB I think that would be a great way to use an android device as a second monitor.
Can you use every app that on the Play Store for example Grand Theft Auto, Minecraft PE and such on chromebooks?
why can't i enable google play store in the settings?
i just got an update for my chromebook ...i have the Acer CB3-111, and i tried to download an android app just to test it , but intead installing the app on my chromebook , its installing on my android smartphone, and my chromebook doesn´t show on my devices list when i try to download the app..!! hmm strange..!!
Hi,
What is the maximum capacity SD card that is supported in ACER Chromebook R11 ?
I have a little bit older chromebook. I downloaded Snapchat just fine until i tried logging in and was notified that Google Play services stopped playing and I couldn't log in because of it. Anything I can do to get Google play services going again?
Pokemon (gps) example was funny. Even if you had gps on chrome book , it would look funny if a person holding a laptop and running around.
not if you have the asus flip it, well, flips into a tablet!!
It is said that you can install Android video editing apps on Chromebook now. But what are the best Android video editing app for Chromebook, does any one have a list?
Please help! Do all acer r11 model numbers support android apps?
I guess chrome books can count as cheap gaming lab tops now. YESSSSSSSSSS
which one is better? this or asus? I need mobility tablet for office and subtitle maker, I only play low/med game when I don't have a work to do. is chromebook a good choice for me?
not particularly tablet, anything small and light
Desy Ferizqa the asus is small and light has better build quality a better sreen and a rockchip
Please add the link so people can check.
Dang, technology grandma here!
There are actually 2.2 Million apps in the Play store
now can we play videos offline...............?
i there a website or email i can use to make a request on a update to my acer to become compatible to the app store and apks?
please help me I can't download anything from play store it says me you need to store in internal hard drive
It look pain to use..
Sad life... I don't have the newest versions.
k guys so i downloaded an android game on my chromebook and in order to play, i somehow need to mimic leaning on a phone... any ideas on how to do this???
Okay I just got a Acer Chromebook 11 CB3-132-C9M7 and i'm trying to get on the play store but it keeps saying GMS service unavailable does anyone know what to do?
Do Android wallpaper apps (such as Zedge) work?
how do you enable developer settings? help!!!!!
I really like this!
I just purchased the acer r11 and I love it, but I would like to know how to run other apks. Also, the android version of Word does not run on this, does anyone know how to get that to run on this.

Lisa I saw skype on your crome dose it work well or crappy ?
Yes Skype will work fine on this
In which storage (internal ot cloudy) do I install apps on chromebook?
is this the same as the c738
Will it run emulators in the Play store like mame, nes, etc? If so, how well?
Yes, it runs the same as any other tablet, fast.
Well, now I cant log into my google play store account. any ideas
Web apps (like office) needs an internet connection. android version don't. that's the main difference imo.
I really want a chromebook that has google play but sence my mom is getting me a tablet she doesn't want to buy me a new chromebook. If my mom would of buy me one i would pick ace chromebook R11
"Apps on Windows? It sucks! Who needs this shit?!" - "Hey look Apps on Chromebooks! Awesome!" I guarantee it.
I can't see chromebooks ever being more popular than a proper Windows laptop. Imagine one of these without a touch screen! Useless.
The Google Play store is years ahead of the Microsoft Store in terms of apps, so, yes having Android apps on a Chromebook is a big deal.
+Gary Dorman most apps in Play Store are touch based.. Non touch ChomeOS laptop will have hard time to use those apps.
+TheZaman1983 Except for games, every single app in the Play Store can be used with a mouse, so I don't get your point. Most people who will want to use Android will get a touch ChromeBook anyway, so this would have been a non-issue even if Android didn't support a mouse, which it does.
+Charles Alden already try it kinda suck.
what about the Chromebook flip I'm trying to chose between both
I have the same problem...
can you use the Skype Android app on the Chromebook? That would be a great advantage.

the only work to chormebook flip ?
any play store apps can download? such as kinemaster?
did you mention gmail?
my chromebook 13 doesn't on the list so I can't run the android apps on it, either😭😭😭
how strange that chromebook 11 could run the android apps😤😤😤😤😤
can you use a bluetooth or a usb controller?
Don’t think so
Is this a convertible laptop?
looks like it
Do an update with chrome os tablets
this is wgat you was talking about on twitter
Yep :)
its crazy how much you know for your age. (tech wise)
Age and gender should never define a person it's sad that in today's reality people seem to think it does but it totally doesn't
"You like Android-Tablets" - said no one ever! 😛
i like android tablets!
+Antech You didn't say "you like android tablets" though!
+Chris Devine You like Android tablets!!
I like my android tablet! I can download movies using torrent, you try that on an iPad
Found the obvious Apple fanboy
Are there any 1080p touch screen chromebooks?
Chromebook pixel
Could you use Mobizen or AZ Screen recorder?
Yes of course, think of this as any other Android tablet, though I would recommend getting an ARM based ChromeBook, just because there are more apps available.
my r11 has 4gb ram 32gb ssd and 4 core pentium, and I love my chromebook, and I love using the play store.
also, I havn't noticed slow performence on my r11, but I'm still rocking a note 3 to compare it to!!!!
+Matt Mayden On games, like asphalt 8 for example, can you use keyboard controls or are you limited to screen control?
I clicked when I saw the same exact chromebook I have in the thumbnail.
YEE
So if I download an app such as Kodi that requires setup and asks if you're using Windows, Android, IOS, etc., what do I answer?
Huh, that doesn't make any sense, there is only one binary pure OS, if you want the Windows version, you download the Windows binary, Android, the Android binary and so on and so forth.

You pick Android.
how do you do it
it function on Asus C200??
Cool, this will be a serious threat to cheap windows laptops.
I don’t have the google play even though I have chrome book acer
But developer mode erases everything :(
I want to know how to draw on it
by me is this not working
bezels aren't big enough.
i dont have it ????
no support for my Acer CB5-311, although it has the same K1 chipset as some Android devices? that's a shame... and rather strange.
yes
I'm sure you'll still be able to get it, just wait until the Chromium OS project is updated with Google Play, once that is done you'll be able to install Chrome OS with Android support on almost anything . I'm which case I would recommend getting a Hybrid laptop with at least an i5 and 8GB of RAM.

I too have that model and have wandered what was the point of a 192 core GPU if you can't play games?
using Bluestacks 3 for google play store in my laptop. dont need Chromebooks for android apps
R11 or chromebook flip 4gb ram?
Flip, better support for Android apps and it's better made. Asphalt 8 for example runs on the Flip.
dual boot chrome os and android
