I had just taken a Nostalgia Trip and rewatched all of 1993’s Animaniacs in all its satirical splendor, so I was primed and ready to dive into this reboot. Could this resurrection 2 decades later live up to the OG? Could that magic be put back into the bottle and given just a dash of new millennium insight? It’s super impressive to me that the original voice actors of Yakko, Wakko, Dot , Pinky, and the brain can reprise their roles over 2 decades later and not sound like they’ve aged a day ! That’s super impressive !
I personally wouldn't call it a reboot because it takes place after the original series, it doesn't change the characters, personality or look, they even acknowledge that they were out for a long time
A reboot has become a catch all term for any IP that is brought back.

Con : All the human characters look like twisted outputting caricatures (done on purpose).
Pro : The jokes hit well it has character development for the main cast.
Another Pro : It's really self aware fun.

@@chrisrj9871 agreed it's just now they look even more ugly than before with big mouths. They don't simplify the faces any more or round the features giving major problems with the characters since they are front and center when they are being annoyed by the WB and Dot.
Another con : Some jokes feel too one sided and pandering, like the Russian bots reference, the demigod/demagogue pun, saying things like "gender neutral" or "mansplainy" (the writers did admit they wanted Dot to *FlEx hEr FeMinIsT mUScLeS* ). They even removed Hello Nurse just to pander to the outraged woke crowd.
I'm excitement , to be honest. I like a revival, not a reboot.

Something tells me that WB/Hulu refused to hire him and the original show's other writers for financial reasons (as in, they'd have likely paid them much more money than they did for the writers they hired for this revival). Either that, or WB/Hulu thought that they're old geezers who've lost their creative touch (I doubt that Ruegger and the other original writers have lost their creative touch). It's still very upsetting, either way.

@@michaelbolcato192 theyre actually coming back in the new season! they wanted to get a better understanding of the shows humor before they animated abunch of other characters and realize they did it for no reason in the case the new season got cancelled. but it looks like we’ll be getting a season 2 anyway!

What will be interesting is how far they will go with no TV censorship. In the 90s they frequently flirted going beyond the usual mid-afternoon cartoon lines and almost went late-night humor. Yakko to Beethoven: What do you do for a living Mr. Beethoven? Beethoven: I'm a pianist. Yakko: Hey! You can't say that! We're trying to run a family clean show here! Beethoven: But that's what I am. I'm a pianist. Yakko: okay dirty mouth. But you better keep your pants on this entire sketch.
7:20 - 7:22: Either that, or the Lab got a major overhaul since "Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain." So, if we count that spinoff as canon, "My Fair Elmyra" would be the last episode, as Brain decided to do nothing for most of his life. But then this reboot happened, where it's revealed the Lab has been rebuilt. They leave Elmyra and head back to their new home; no longer having to deal with being chased by Faust again. At least, that would be my headcanon.

I'm glad to hear this reboot series respects its original predecessor. While I have not actually seen the original Animaniacs (as I have only seen bits and pieces of it, but not the show as a whole) I'm glad to hear that in your opinion at least that this reboot series (cause I have noticed certain people in the comment section do not count this as a reboot but I do considering the fact that It has come out many years after the original and it shares the same title no less) did the original show justice. I'm also thankful for that because, in my opinion at least, we are living in a day and age where remakes and reboots are way too common as multiple nostalgic entertainment properties in the world of movies and television are getting remade or rebooted but more often than not don't even come close to living up to the original version of these nostalgic stories, seeing as how I feel like most remakes and reboots are being used as cash grabs at this point. Because of this, I glad to hear that in your eyes NerdWire this reboot of Animaniacs had a great balance between adding new elements to this reboot while keeping other aspects of the original incarnation the same. To end off here, I will probably start watching the original 90's version of this show first (as again, I have have not seen that version yet), but, after I do that and once I get Hulu for that matter, I will give this reboot a chance and see what are my thoughts on it.

God the Warners used to take joy from annoying ol Mr Plotz. WHY can;t they annoy this new CEO?! Cause she;s a woman?! Never ever stopped them before!! I wanted them to treat her exactly the same! Why they hell didn;t they?!
Only TWO segments?! Come on, part of the fun was this was an anthology! A whole group of segments, ya never knew what you were gonna get from week to week. Two is just...generic
PSA'S?! Since WHEN did the show EVER do PSA'S?! God one of the greatest things about this show is that it was so against PSA's. God, there were whole eps where they went against Network censers and all that! And one where they made fun of Very Special Episodes!! The only memorable thing about that ep was the anime parody and THAT was too short!
And last but not least..NO CLOSING TOWER GAG?!?! THAT IS BLASPHEMY!!

The original was very political, but they made everyone the butt of the joke. No one was left out and everyone was made fun of.
The reboot definitely leans one way, so the political humor kinda just falls flat due to it not being all or nothing.
The funny moments are HILARIOUS though and I almost died of laughter a few times, but the political humor was just okay and kinda weighing the show down.
Everything else was perfect.
I’m a millennial without kids who is watching simply for the nostalgia factor. So far I’m very impressed. I’ve watched the first three episodes. I love the adult humor and political commentary. I especially like how it comments on politics irreverently yet isn’t partisan. It makes fun of all sides. The updated animation with brighter colors and sharper edges is great, although it doesn’t look at all like anime to me. It definitely stays true to the original animation style. And the subtle yet noticeable changes to the theme song is spectacular! A child wouldn’t notice, but I like how it says “you should see our new contracts” (very clever and relevant) and “gender balanced, pronoun neutral, and ethnically diverse” (this line made me literally LOL)!
Now for my complaints. All of the “shorts” other than Pinky and the Brain have been removed, which was never my favorite short anyway. I liked Rita and Runt, Wakko’s weird songs (like the burp song), and Yakko’s educational songs (like the countries of the world, US presidents, and 50 states songs). They also removed some of my favorite characters like the nurse and the psychiatrist.
The adult humor is spot on though, like the Trump cyclops! 😂 it makes me wonder how much nuanced adult humor was in the original series…too bad I can’t watch the reruns on Hulu too. 😢 I think this style of humor is my favorite thing about the series. I can watch it without feeling like a loser who still likes kids’ shows. 😝 I can’t wait to see season 2; I hope it will be more up to date and be even more relevant to the disastrous year 2020!

Whilst it's not fair to compare 13 episodes to 99, I think the reboot did a good job and is on track to not just be as good, but even better.

Side note, would nerdwire ever do a nostalgia trip on the live action shows? Oddly enough, when I try to recall old-ish live action kids shows, all the ones that stand out to me were on Nickelodeon. Bug Juice, Clarissa explains it all, Pete and Pete, Alex Mack, all that, kenan and Kel, so on and so forth.
although the spin-offs arent either nor the ending gags I'm still happy they are back

Thank you Warner Brothers and water sister for bringing back Animaniacs I used to watch Animaniacs for a little girl and I didn't even know that there was an adult humor in the show but then now as an adult right now I know I don't know I can't believe they put a humor in metal but I'm glad that they're bringing the show back and I'm glad that they're bringing Adele like a big spoon out of Nest temperature in my life again

I think it's kind of a hit or miss. You can tell it's not the same crew working on the writing, and they had their hands tied on some things, like the lack of supporting cast (No Slappy or Goodfeathers ? Let's hope for next season), no end credits gag and some jokes are trying too hard to pander to the woke demographic (i.e. Russian bots, the demigod/demagogue pun, removing Hello Nurse to pander to the Karens, the Johnny Depp poster thing, they even admitted they wanted Dot to "flex her feminist muscles"....). The original series took the piss out of everyone, this one does feel one-sided to a degree. One can hope things will be tuned out with the next season, but I dunno with these writers.....
If people try to bring your mood down by saying that it's not the same without Tom Ruegger, DON'T LET THEM!!! Don't let ANYONE bring your mood down for the new series!!! Some people who worked on the original show is not part of the equation anymore. It's HOLLYWOOD! You've got to expect that! Just because the show does't have many of the original creative team who've worked on the original series, even the original side characters, such as Skippy and Slappy, The Goodfeathers, etc., that doesn't necessarily mean that the show is going to suck! Give it a chance!

Only TWO segments?! Come on, part of the fun was this was an anthology! A whole group of segments, ya never knew what you were gonna get from week to week. Two is just...generic
PSA'S?! Since WHEN did the show EVER do PSA'S?! God one of the greatest things about this show is that it was so against PSA's. God, there were whole eps where they went against Network censers and all that! And one where they made fun of Very Special Episodes!! The only memorable thing about that ep was the anime parody and THAT was too short!
And last but not least..NO CLOSING TOWER GAG?!?! THAT IS BLASPHEMY!!
Face it, that Wally guy needs to be fired and Tom Rugger HAS to come back to fix this!
I was born in the late nineties so when animaniacs was on my tv it was probably reruns so I don’t remember much. So I started with the 2020 one and honestly it was funny I went back to watch the 1993 version and I find it hilarious like that episode with the girl who explodes and thinks chickenboo is a human...comedy gold. It would be awesome to see some of the old characters return but I’m excited to see the creative direction they’ll take

I also rewatched the original series and what I think of the new one I like it in short terms things are different and the show embraces that it gives me that feel that it never left.. that's my thoughts on it what's everyone else think?
two questions a) when can I watch this and b) HOW CAN I WATCH WITHOUT HULU??? I don't mean using different companies that enable Hulu but how i can watch this without needing hulu like 123movies and fmovies.

Dot says "hello nurse" talking about her name and that she isn't there. The actual character was called hello nurse. Also, there is a gag where the brothers are nurses and dot is a doctor, because women aren't just nurses.

I made it through 4 episodes and not once has Pinky said Narf. Makes me wonder at this point if this was in Rob Paulsen's contract that he wouldn't do the Narf bit. If so, I respect that but I loved that part about Pinky.

I don't need the Warner Brothers (or the Warner Sister) I have them in my life. My son and his favorite cousins fill that role. They are totally zany and insany that their poor grandmother refuses to look after all three at the same time.
