Yeah thanks! Wish there was b15s in Europe, hard to find - thinking about trying to build a clone but need to find someone good in drawing up the chassi in auto cad for manufacturing 2-3examples
+Mateusz Piotrowski I see the two amps switched off, and not mics, how exactly did you record this? to make a fair review you should approach the sound performance by each cabinet and speaker because the construction are different on each.
I have a B15S I've owned for 20 years. Put a JBL D140 in it. The extra wattage helps a lot. ( 60 watts ) Great Amp, Also sounds great with an Upright bass.
I realize I'm a little late to this party. Both amps sound really good to me. I own an early 70's B15N (black Tolex/blue grill cloth, like you S) with an Altec 421 speaker. What I'd love to know is, how were these recorded? Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't see a mic in the shots.?. Were they recorded off the line-out jacks?
all of the tones were awesome. how can you pick? also your palm muting technique is tight. inspired me to practice harder. nice basses. I only have a jazz now, but next up is a p-bass for sure. p-bass is what has me looking at Ampeg which is how I found you. good job on the video comparison.
Ultimately, the N wins, because you can get the S sound without the amp, mostly. The N has a subtle harmonic transparency that comes from subtle driving of a lower wattage tube amp, vintage speaker and preamp using the 1940s era tubes that sounded "vintage" in 1963. I listened on my studio monitors and for the easy win, on my phone, which is a good phone for bass, actually... but will show all the shortcomings on the S frequency response in the midrange.
Seriously, I’ve never heard an old b15 get that fine gritty overdrive that you are getting. I’m jealous of that tone. I just can’t seem to get it. The ones after the 2:50 mark.
+Mateusz Piotrowski Funny to read that (but I respect the statement) ; what about the svt 2 pro, in your opinion, and what would be the best ampeg amp (for rock sounds) according to you ? Love kind of every video you make, by the way, thanks for that.
+Jacek Siminski i agree, it's a matter of taste ;) I like the S especially for the driven tone that yiu can hear in the last example, that stole my heart
I worked for AMPEG (1966_1969) it's so nice to see them still used today. it was a great job.
thank you for your service

cab size seems to play a role here. thanks so much this is a treat.
Damn nailed the vintage tones better than any other B15 video on here!
Man, that B15n just screams Jamerson I would love to own that rig just for recording. And very nice playing as well 👍👌✌️
Where is the microphone located?
recorded in DI and then reamped for video purpose
you are such a great player. great economy of motion with your left hand (or both for that matter).
I prefer b15S for rock, funk and pickstyle, but b15n is best with flatwounds, motown and pop music.

B-15N for me, the low end is so sweet.

Probably the greatest amplifier ever produced
We have a B15S Stack here at the house, and we got a new Ampeg cab for it cause the B15S stock cab had way too much rattle and whatnot.
Great time, friend. Any drummer would have a good time playing with you!
0:36 what kind of material did you use as mute? sounds great

And the winner is.... the Ampeg !!!
What kind of pickups do you have in those Pbasses? Are they original Fender? I really like the darker worn bass. Sounds so gooood...

What speakers are you using in each of these?? BTW this is my favorite demo of the b-15 Ive have come across. Great feels, man!
+aaron rieseberg eminence in S and jensen in N
Are they vintage speakers or replacememts?
Mic?
Love your video! Great playing as always)
p.s.: Which brand of flats do you normally use on P-bass?
+HereticJudgment Thomastik
@@mateuszpiotrowski I've got a B-18-N (stock) with the TI Flats on my P-Bass. Sounds great!

What’s with the drum loop? Can hear the bass amp!!
Is it possible to get that overdriven sound with an SVT-CL? It sounds sweet for rock !
For me CL is wort tube ampeg that i ever played but you can get something around that.

What abbaut the VR? Or 50th anniversary? Is it equal to the cl in your opinion?
Great playing! Both sound awesome to me, I'd take both in stereo ;)
+Tim Ångström
Nice idea:)
Mateusz Piotrowski :) By the way, what mics are you using for your demo recordings?
+Tim Ångström MD421, RE20, D112
How did you record amp with no mic
What speaker do you have inside of the B15N? A JBL d130?
I have a 62 B15n with a JBL D130 and it sounds awesome!
What sort of overdrive are you using at 2:40? Sounds great!
Dylan Hall
he isn't using an overdrive pedal. That IS the Ampeg with the gain cranked!!!! Soooo sweet!
Different circuit, tubes and speakers and they sound almost exactly the same.
Ten starszy brzmi po prostu nowocześniej :)
the '63 B15N by a mile!
Definitely the b15s! :O
+Michele Mattiazzi Nope. Nope. Nope. N all the way
+Jacek Siminski nope nope, s ftw
+Michele Mattiazzi Depends what you need. I strongly dislike the S, for its grittiness.
+Jacek Siminski i agree, it's a matter of taste ;) I like the S especially for the driven tone that yiu can hear in the last example, that stole my heart
For clean playing there is no better amp than the B-15N.
I liked the S better because it didn't have the overdrive on it. Go figure
B15 wins..I'm partial because my dad had one...where's the light though?
Don't understand, what are we listening to? Where's the mike?
its reamped afterwards. easier for me
@@mateuszpiotrowski I see, with what microphone?
@@ivoseverijns6394 mix of md421 and D112
