I have a pitman strap coming loose from the knife bar head. Is there a way to fix this issue. I replaced the strap with a eBay, took it to a metal repair shop, made the adjustment my self was a little better. I used hose clamps tighten on it that helped more with belt super loose. Tighten the belt some and back to the same problem.
This is easier just to remove the knife and change the sections and inspect the whole knife and tighten any loose rivets with a whack of a hammer on an anvil and sharpen the sections with a grinder.
Depends,it’s faster maybe, but me,I pull the knife out to sharpen or replace, more room to sharpen with a grinder, if you use a 3in sandpaper to sharpen up,that’s even better for me,you need to find out your way,how often and how much you need to cut tells me how I’m gonna sharpen, jus me sayin.

How sharp was the ledger plate on the rock guard being that old and the section being as dull as it was?
The ledgers were all pretty sharp. Maybe self sharpening design?? I’m guessing they are harder steel than the replaceable sections
Why not but bolts in other way? With the nuts on top?
