Very premature and offensive to be talking about a 14--year-old with such breathless expectations and implied pressure. Let the kid mature, and leave him as a minor story popping up occasionally until he's ready to decide his future, whatever it is.

Natural talent still requires a lot of nurturing, encouragement, hard work and dedication. In the very near future these jealous people will have mud in their faces. And you're already floating the "legend" moniker on him. There are many thousands of amazing golfers in and around the amateur tours who never make it to the PGA. I know the media will ride this kid like a rented pony, for better or for worse, but I do hope they don't. Give him the space necessary to grow and mature into the game. Are we forgetting Charlie picked up the game 3 yrs ago. Just before his 11th birthday. Tiger was on the tonight show with Johnny when he was 6. Earl knew what he was doing. He gave Tiger every opportunity to become spectacular. Tiger isn't just great he is gifted with all the attributes needed to be incredible. Charlie isn't like Tiger as far as his training and regiment. I hear a lot of comments about the pressure. He has no pressure except what he sets as his goals. I'm sure he & dad don't waste much time reading opinions. If the kid decides to quit and take up tennis. Neither he or his Dad will make a big deal of it. As far as Charlie's game. Considering he decided to become a golfer 33 months ago I'd say he has the gift. Will he be what his father is, who knows but he certainly has the swing and attitude. I'm quite sure he'll be in a green jacket before he hits 25! He may be the GOAT but let it happen as it does. Remember when some were saying Tiger would no doubt surpass Jack's total majors. Time and alot of other factors make it possible but don't count on it. Jack welcomed Tiger and said there's no doubt his record will fall but to say it's a sure thing is ridiculous. The game has chang d and Tiger had a lot to do with it. He worked out and maintained a rigorous regiment. Look at the athleticism in the top 20. Not many fat out of shape players. That is one factor that creates a level of competition that pro golf didn't have before. So winning 20 majors & 150 events is less likely now. Let's enjoy this kid and hope he brings the same lift to the game as Tiger.

Oh, his son Gary tried playing pro. He wasn't too successful and I think he stopped. I watched him play a pro-am with his dad when his dad was in his early 60's. He hit the ball a country mile and from my standard was an excellent player. But that just tells you how hard it really is.

Just because he is Tiger Woods son does not guarantee stardom on the PGA tour. If his last name wasn't Woods I doubt we would even have heard of him. Seems as if everyone is trying to resurrect Tiger by hoping his son will take his place, Tiger was a once in a lifetime player and from what I've seen Charlie does not possess the same skills as his dad.
