That whole album is emotional all in different ways. The album is called After Laughter and the whole I guess concept is the right word is in Hayley's words "After Laughter is about the look on people’s faces when they’re done laughing. If you watch somebody long enough, there’s always this look that comes across their face when they’re done smiling, and I always find it really fascinating to wonder what it is that brought them back to reality. So, that’s what After Laughter is." And the I guess moto/slogan of that album is "Cry Hard, Dance Harder" With most songs being upbeat but lyrically super serious and sad. I highly recommend listening to the whole album. On or off camera is up to you it's a masterpiece.

To add to this, the whole album was written around the time her and Chad Gilbert of Nee Found Glory got divorced. The lyrical content is heavy on that, and a lot of the instrumentation is upbeat and dancey.

This whole album is therapy in some way, honey. I feel every song in so many different levels. I cried a lot with the lyrics but they helped me understand many situations from a deeper perspective also.
I really hope you can overcome what you are going trough or at least deal with it in the best way possible. Keep strong. Sending all my positiveness from Peru to where you are.
#Pool y #26 are a couple of the songs I can recommend from After laughter.
what you said about not being able to Tell somebody how you really feel about something is frustrating.

Such a beautiful honest vid. Thank you for being so vulnerable and honest with us and I hope you feel better soon. The part about good and bad times as an ‘ebb and flow’ really resonated with me. It’s so true that we can be so caught up in the bad times that we forget to embrace and trust the good times- I know I’m guilty of that. Really lovely vid thank you!

I'm so glad I stumbled across your reaction. Your vulnerability and genuineness were really impactful, and your words about how the highs and lows of life are normal and we shouldn't fear being happy hit home. Over the past six years I've been in a seemingly never ending rollercoaster with high highs and very low lows. For a while I wondered what the point of happiness was when I would always fall back into a depression, but your words are already helping to change that mindset! I am so sorry for the loses you are going through, and words can't heal those wounds, but know that even though many of us are complete strangers that we as fellow people care about you and appreciate you.

Its crazy that people said Paramore became more basic and poppy and that After Laughter has no substance, but if anything I find After Laughter is more blatantly open and honest about mental health. Yeah you can dance to it but they lyrics are rather raw and real compared to there other albums

Thank you, Amanda, for sharing your heart!
My wife, my 19 year-old son, and I all live with a different form of Depression. For my wife, she is Type II Bi-Polar with intrusive suicidal thoughts. Plus, she has had to deal with losing both her mom & dad separately over the past couple of years. My son has Depression & Anxiety to the point where it's hard for him to make decisions. Meanwhile, I live with ADD & Depression where & try to get through to better myself to help take care of my family, but feel like I keep failing them.
But, the three of us, together, hold & help each other. We listen & try to be there. And never let one day go by without letting each other know how much we love each other. It doesn't magically solve anything. But it helps us deal with what is going on & work on getting better.

I am going through this very same situation, (yet again) in my life, and have been having this conversation a lot lately, how people say they love me, but they really only love the "happy" me who used to be there but isn't anymore. I have to pretend to be happy for people to stick around, and and it makes me angry that nobody can accept or understand me for who I am, even if who I am is not fun and happy. I have BPD, chronic major depressive disorder, terrible anxiety, and a host of other tag-a-long illnesses, and a life of pain and little else. I've realized that at some point, my life will end by my own hand if nature doesn't do it first. There are two people left in my life I can almost feel "safe to be myself" around: my mother, who is 83, and one last friend who hasn't decided I'm too depressing to be around (I was literally told that this week by a lifelong friend I never thought I'd lose and just did). Almost everyone who has ever told me "I'll always be here for you" has left because I am inconvenient for them. I can't believe I made it to 51 years old without realizing I really can't trust anyone. This upload obviously hit home for me. I'm not being fake happy anymore, and the result is that I am almost completely and totally isolated and alone. So much for "reaching out" to someone. They don't want to hear it.

I'm like you...I listened to Paramore back in the day and just never heard anything about them since. The song is spot on and what you said about the social media fake outlook people present is exactly right. No one wants to "air their dirty laundry" so we all present what we want people to see. I've gotten extremely good at pretending that I'm ok....I'm so good I even convince myself sometimes. It always catches up with me though. Sorry to hear about your struggles. People ask how you are doing because it is what they are programmed to do but usually they don't actually want to know. IMO they usually only ask because they are hoping they can talk about themselves.

I was told that I have a fatal autoimmune disease. A lifetime of dealing with depression, suicidal ideation, etc suddenly didn't feel like it was there anymore. Like 2 minutes of shock, then all of the chains that were put on me were so easy to throw away. Screw everyone elses needs and endless expectations of and from me through my entire life suddenly became super easy to say no to everything. I refuse to do a lot now when I used to push my body to please everyone else. Let them figure it out themselves without me NOW because I want to be happy until I die. I want to do as much for everyone I love in a different way to balance that I am not going to give of my soul even if I hurt to do it...instead, I will show them how to do it. I have bad days, but I try to remember at least 3 happy memories as fully as possible, what made them awesome, what sensory memories are connected to it. I have 3 tiny goals a day, simple, get out of bed, eat, etc, because achieving even small goals gives you a sense of well-being and achievement every day. Then before I go to bed, 3 awesome things I experienced THAT day, no matter if its as simple as petting my dog, getting my brother's dog to give me a lick, whatever...because focusing on the good things in your worst days can help you change your mentality from overall negative to more positive and uplifting. It actually worked and I use the "Rule of 3-Things" when I start having a hard time.

Hey everyone goes through problems. I spent 8 years in the military and it took years for me to admit that I had PTSD. As a man I thought it was embarrassing for me to ask for help. I just drowned myself in tears and drank almost a bottle of booze a day and was constantly bedridden. But, my roomate thank GOD helped me and pushed me to seek help. I did and I feel a ton better. There is nothing wrong with asking for help. If someone is willing to open the door; just walk through it and accept it! Cuddle up with someone; talk and get warm trust me it will help! You are a woman it doesn't matter if is even another woman just ask your friend to maybe sleep with you in dark times for comfort! Like call her up and say "hey can you come over i'm not feeling good. come sleep with me!"

    • @manuelruen
      @manuelruen 2 года назад

What I can tell you to try and help you though is... stop watching and listening to depressing stuff! You know why? Because it's going to keep you depressed. It's like a slippery slope. Like a domino effect! You need to watch something funny! Comedy! Trust me it works but I know it's easier said than done when you are feeling depressed! Just force yourself! Also have a family member or a spouse hold on to you when you are in dark times. I know it's terrible. But there is always help out there when you need it! Don't JUST RELY ON MUSIC! You need human interaction ok! Just accept it!

No need to apologize at all. I've never attempted, but I've struggled with anxiety and depression for most of my life, even though I wasn't diagnosed until college. There are days when certain thoughts seem far more tempting than they should, and even when it doesn't get "that bad", there's always still constant self-talk that makes me question not only myself but everyone around me. This album ("After Laughter") is my favorite album of all time, yet no matter how many times I've listened to it over the last 4 years, I still can't get through this song without crying. So definitely no need to apologize ❤ I always say that I'm happy for anyone who can listen to this song and come away without feeling anything, or even come away confused, because it means they've never felt that kind of pain and emptiness and emotional exhaustion before, and they're lucky as hell.

Paramore is my favourite band and I'm really thankful for your raw, honest reaction to the song. Not everyone has been to that dark place that you seem to have managed to crawl and dig yourself out of and sometimes we just can't find the words to express our thoughts and feelings during then. Which is why when you teared up upon hearing the lyrics we just know that you've been flooded and overwhelmed with the memories of yore.
Anyway, the whole album is great but for a change of pace, I hope you would also react to Mr/MMe by Loïc Nottet if you haven't. It's in French so I would recommend watching a video with lyrics!

I didn't know what to expect when I heard this the first time. I cried when I heard the lyrics because I was tired of on this fake persona that I was showing everyone. Some of my friends don't even know that I struggle like this. Thank you for your honest reaction.
