OMG I played with this country some years ago and it was one of the funniest nations i had ever seen. The bad thing was that it wasn't finished and when you formed Gerudaghot it had nothing. But now yes ahhhhhhh
Interesting update from the bitbucket: Trolls now have -15% manpower recovery instead of the 33% in the video, a 48% nerf swing. Shock damage also got reduced to 20% from 33%
I've actually played and completed this campaign. It was fun, but after having heard multiple times that it had a rather hard start, I was rather surprised when I breezed through the early game. Less surprised when I breezed through the rest of the game as well. I found it one of the easier campaigns I've done, mostly due to the ridiculous strength/endurance of the troll military. This gave me (over)confidence that I was now an expert, and knew what I was doing. For my next game, I played the Gold dwarves (having completed the Quartz dwarves before, so I knew what to expect in terms of disasters, etc.), where I was expecting a much easier start, and instead had to actually restart multiple times as I got bodied by harpies with a mage general and the Jadd in turn, until rng favoured me enough that I could ally the Jadd after only losing a single province. The point? Ignore people who claim this is a hard start. You have to lose a few battles to grind down enemy manpower, but it's very doable, and a fun, flavourful campaign overall.
As a pure human player, no Troll campaign will ever be started on my computer. But I like to watch lesser people do it :D. But in all seriousness, I love your videos so much! They feel like a like audiobook, but about Anbennar. Btw. an edited lets play with your voice must be wonderful.
WOOOO NEW VIDEO!!! Seriously though, I'm glad you keep uploading such high quality content. Your videos helped me get into anbennar, and now I'm looking forward to playing a troll campaign fairly soon!
Kind of dropped my troll campaign but it was very fun. Had been feeding the serpentspine to a converted vassal Darkscale, and accepted Bluescale culture in the dragon hills, figured kobolds fit with the mountain religion plus it kind of made sense with the Ordning thing. I think Hill Knolls still had cores so I was going to try to get them as a mountain watchers vassal as well. I didn't hard drop it, but my progress was blocked by Khuraen on one side and monster Lorent on the other (plus two allied Orc GPs on my border in escann) and I didn't find the motivation to deal with all of that. I think I will wait until the next big update and restart (though on my list for then it's way behind Command and Mykx and some others)
Sounds awesome. I stayed away from vassals most of the game this time, but I can see what you say. I would like to try a campaign where I could break out into Aelentir and run a colonial troll empire in parallel.
@@Mr_kyll I guess adding minorities is a bit random, so it can't be consistently done at the moment. One way that you can approach this is to avoid expelling/purging goblins/kobolds, which is considered heretical in dwarven circles.
vassalize the kobolds and ogres, let them colonize a bit then annex (i think if you annex and release as vassal they lose monstrous but not sure) don't purge goblins, also harpies -33% build time random event if you have a harpy minority
@@pukebeard6406 Maybe it's best to wait until the Darkscale MT is done, from what I've read their story and influence will be felt through all of Cannor
In all my campaigns thus far the trolls barely ever change borders. They can go on the entire campaign with their starting provinces and only from time to time gain or lose a province or two
Honestly it's really not that hard of a start. Troll unit pips are insane compared to all their neighbours, at least at the start, to the point where I'm actually convinced that you have a better military than your neighbours at the start. Worst case scenario you can just go over force limit and destroy them without much effort, since loans mean nothing when you're small. One particularly cursed thing you can do is flip to a human primary culture during to help with your mana costs. Admittedly my entire obtroll game was cursed, since I conquered south early and actually ended up having to fight frozenmaw to actually form gerudaghot.
@@pukebeard6406 I don't know, I switched back before forming them, but it's a very easy way to stop being monstrous and get some allies for big conquest.
Troll game is quite wholesome. You go from a backwater of lumbering brutes and become a hub of culture and learning by the end
Yes!

YES! The Gerudaghot sequel was added in Light and Dark. I had the same experience. :)

Oh NOOO :O
They murdered my boys!
Well they were damn near the most op mil in the game so makes sense.
you sir have just persuaded me to start an Obrtroll campaign
thanks for yet another great video!
The pleasure is all mine! Enjoy!

Absolutely! I have had a similar initial experience with Verkal Gulan, 100%.
I just finished a troll game, it was very fun
Your accent is so beautiful it makes listening to your videos like free ear massages
That is the most beautiful thing anyone ever said to me. Thank you. :D

Oh, i'd love to try that sometimes. I just wish this damned Haless would finally hit Steam!

My sincerest heart emojiii!
Right after I stop my campaign you upload a video on them, very good video as usual
Thank you! I hope it went well!
@@pukebeard6406 It went quite well, none stood in the way of the Jottun and their People
Oooh Gerudaghot has a expanded tree now! Last time I did a troll play the tree wasn’t finished beyond forming the new nation.
I can hear the Zul'Drak music a mile away. What good taste in human and music you have! Troll go nom, but only after a little flute session of course.
Hey, it's trolls in the cold! Flutes for the flute throne!
Damn, I just finished my Krakdhumvror (Giant's Anvil dwarves) campaign and now I want to play as the Obrtrolls.
Great video! :D
I love the Kraks! But then again, I love all dwarves.
RIP old troll military, i miss you so much

Talking about population synergies does goblin and dwarves bonuses can work together to reduce digging hold time?
Absolutely. Kobolds are also very good. If you can get both minorities in a hold, they will dig dig dig like never before.

I never seen them survive. Or extremely rarely. :(
This was my second campaign in this mod after Grombar, man that was rough but I loved it. Shame Grombar AI had to come after and ruin it for me XD
You must kick the little orcs early. It is the way!
I'll be making sure of that next time :p
I tried this once, then Gawed with great conqueror and 120k troops declare on me
Well, that’s what you get if you go for that 1 prestige! :))
You should do Skurkokli next
Why Skurkokli in particular?
Are there any troll nations other than obrtrol?
No, Obrtrol are the last giants, which makes them that more precious.
