Nothing wrong with the SWA coming into the plastic box, giving that all conections are tight the earth would be exactly the same as bringing it into a box of any material
Absolutely nothing wrong with the banjo on the plastic box still getting earth continuity, all that would happen with a metal box is you’ll just be earthing the metal box as well, works the same?
Industrial equipment tech. here. I've done that mistake with the buss bar myself. Trick is to open up all the MCB screws, present the buss bar and check it's correctly positioned. then close only the MCBs at both ends finger tight. Proceed to finger tight all the other terminals while visually inspecting the buss bar legs are in the position and getting clamped. A small dentists mirror comes in handy. Learning a lot from your video content, keeping it real, much appreaciated.
Well done Delroy. With the plastic box, put the earth banjo inside the box and bolt the earth straight on without going through the plastic or use an earth nut, there great for this type of installation!! 👍
Our modern circuit breaker panels here in the western U.S. called a load center look much safer than what I see in your videos. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks!
Good spot. 3 different manufacturers in a 4 way unit. Cut the top of the cover off to make them fit! Scary thing is that someone probably got paid for that work too.
@@edh4808 It doesn't have to be, I just prefer them, they're only a few pence more than a SP and I feel they're a little safer. Also you you don't have to worry about accidentally touching the CPC to the neutral conductor and tripping out half the house.
@@ashmanelectricalservices4318 surely the installed switchgear for the heater would make no difference to the RCD tripping given the upstream install of the device? Bang Neutral to Earth anywhere on that installation and that RCD will trip.
Great video again del Love the “we call them lamps”😊😂 You’ve got a lot of patience mate and I think we need that in this trade or we’d go slightly mad😄
Couple of things mate, I would've put a 20A for the radial otherwise it could trip again. Nothing wrong with terminating SWA Earth banjo to plastic enclosure, I remember that's how we were taught in college. I would've tested the incoming & outgoing Voltage to the driver before diagnosing a faulty downlight. Also whenever I get supplies I will always get a box of FCU's or sockets etc. Great video though mate, keep up the good work!
Great set of jobs little Thankyou for doing this it would be good to look at a few sockets from different manufacturers to compare engineering design. Folding the wire over gives greater surface area of electrical connection plus filling the recess hole for the conductor to avoid it being terminated without a solid connection. Some designs are gonna be better than others good to get a sparkys view.
As already noticed by someone else, I think you need to urgently contact the first client to let them know about the exposed terminations on the consumer unit! before some poor sod blows their finger off.
FYI in Australia If the wire in a connector does not occupy at least 80% of that hole, then you have to fatten the wire by bending it over. The reason for this is that, if the wire is too skinny, then the screw might accidentally push the wire to one side instead of squashing it.
I do not see to much wrong with terminating that swa into a pvc switch and I much prefer a pvc isolator than a metal one in that situation, having said that I'm a electrician in Southern Ireland and we always used 5 core swa cable for 3 phase so we would have a separate conductor for earth not relying on the armouring for the earth, not sure if you are using a crimper for them bootlace ferrules if not you should get a Precive bootlace crimper from ebay or amazon they do not cost much and make a very good job of the crimping, I am fairly old and served my time in London in the 1970s and worked with a young guy called Delroy for a while its unlikely to be you because your probably to young but it could be did you ever work for a firm called Elemex a very long time ago.
A flawed assumption to think that qualified electricians do not in fact do shoddy work, YT is littered with evidence that shames both the electrical and plumbing trades.
It feels weird to me that you are mandatory to have fuses in switches and socket plugs. In my country the breakers and RCDs are enough because you also have fuses in the appliances themselves. So your national solution basically just adds more points of failure. Also your socket plugs are unnecessarily massive. Puzzling.
Hi love your videos.got a question fitted down lights in whole house .doing electrical engineering level 6 so tried to become spark.on my down lights when I measure neautral to earth i get 173 MV milli volts is that normal thanks
I nearly shocked myself badly messing around with the consumer unit on my place, buzz bar touched the metal casing of cu BANG corner of buzz bar flew across the room whoops next moning call the spark and he says call your energy company they will come and change your 100Am fuse for free you silly boy
@@Marco-mg9tv they should not be used in wagos, just use the lever wagos for stranded wire. Ferrules are only recommended for screw terminals where the screw bites directly into the wire. They are unnecessary for the cage clamp terminals as used on MCBs.

Delroy you are so calm, relaxed and informative. Such an excellent customer facing manner too. Love it!
I use a dentists mirror to make sure the teeth of the busbar are securely located into the MCB terminals
Nice one, Jordan.
Plastic or metal?
Great idea
How many Dentists mirrors do you have? Perhaps you meant Dentist's mirror?
Nick B he could get shocked if it was a metal one
Hello from Israel also an electrician love your videos you explain everything so well never Sean anyone do it like you keep it up 👍
Gotta love del's videos, always looks like he wants to burst out laughing, no matter how bad the situation 👍
Thanks Mark

Should be a 20amp double pole switch for immersion del. Good video 👍
Your video work is getting good, much better than your first attempt 😂. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks for watching
Much appreciated, I'm still in college doing level 2 but love watching ur videos.

Very good workmanship 👍
That loose MCB is hilarious! 🤦♂️

You're so relaxed about things really nice to see
At 2:49 those connection screws at the top of the Main Switch and Mcb. That’s a C1 fault on an condition report.

SDG Electronics still required to issue a danger notice. Stick to electronics you cowboy.
Good spot
Immersion and storage heaters always go on a 20A DP switch for me.
@@Roverturbo A 13A fuse will pass 20A indefinitely. The issue is the fuse dissipates heat with sustained heavy load causing damage to the FCU
The likelihood is that the immersion or storage heater is already on a 16A MCB, so why would it need to be fused down any further to 13A.
Why does it have to be DP?

Thanks Ralph appreciate the feedback
Need to start opening that main switch
wicked vids mate
Delightful Sir Delroy, wonderful, about time you visited us in Thailand, as mentioned previously - you would be HORRIFIED!

Immersion heaters should be on a dedicated 16a circuit with a 20a d/p switch. Definitely not on a switched fused spur
Top man your proper chilled man !!!
I always take my time when iam screwing the mcbs into busbar and check em with tester or eye but sometimes it comes with experience
Good job guys.
17:15 Did you use the tool to tight down those lace ferrules before you put them in the terminals?
great video subscribed !
Should leave a business card with the fuse board when you put one in :D
40A ring main in the first fuse board with the loose mcb

Hi budy how much you charge for call out, I live in Bristol and I am inho much to charge

It's a pain to replace a mcb on a bar.
I slide a temporary wire in front of bar while I tighten the screw and see if it grips.

the socket also looked like the live wire was a bit damaged. Could the flickering light be capactive coupling or similar ?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Nothing wrong with connecting the banjo through a plastic box , the purpose of it is so that the armoured braidings are earthed, not the box.
Lamps. You tell him Del. 👍
Great video!!
Thanks Lewis
sometimes a loose connection can cause problems or steam in bathroom area can cause disruption on the lighting simple things enjoyed the video.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍

It would be expected to see some potential difference between earth and neutral.
Those extended screws i can't get because if covid, no supply available

Seriously? An emergency call out to fit the simplest of all light rose configurations?
Put banjo inside the isolator
Best thing to do is carry some stock
Thanks 👍
