    Could you confirm that's correct,it'd have me feeling pretty good if that's the case 😊

    Am very happy with the compression at 165 consistently, bottom end seems very good, no leaks etc, we have had a few props over time and are told this 3 blade one is about as good as we can do for out of the hole performance with an Argo V-Drive @ 17% step up and soft clutch? She’s just a bit tired and wondering if a cam and set of heads might give it the extra pep for towing big boys out on a single ski? 🤔🤔

    Pillow blocks are little overrated. A clevo’s weekness is it’s cylinder and the ‘pillowing’ does very little to enhance strength.

    Hi boys, will be checking all 4 clevos now for pillow blocks!! 😂😂 Question, have a 302 in a speedboat, 165 compression across all cylinders but lacks a little down low punch, runs like a dream just not enough oooomf, can you recommend some mods to get it out of the hole better without a full rebuild??? Heads, cam, intake? Not sure just don’t have the $6k/$7k for a full rebuild, any advice would be apprecited? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    • @thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259
      @thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259 3 года назад

      165 seems pretty reasonable, what were you expecting?
      I find most boats slow to plane tend to be over propped. FWIW

    • @aussiesupersnake6642
      @aussiesupersnake6642 3 года назад

      MATE i dont care what anyone says,but for a boat you need cubic inchs,stroke it,for a 302 the more mods you do to it,[this goes for all motors]bigger cam and single plane manifold you take from the bottom to make more power up in the rev range.IF you didnt want to stroke then supercharge it

    • @lachlanwoods3940
      @lachlanwoods3940 3 года назад

      I hear you, she’s a social ski boat, rear mount, so blower deletes the engine cover and not safe for kiddies to get in and out of, have a couple of 351’s as an option but also a couple of XD’s that could use a stroker so might just do the swap for an already cammed 351 and stroke current 302 out to 393 and chuck that in the old XD? Was just hoping that a cam upgrade with some heads and/or intake manifold might be a cheaper option for a boat that only goes out 8/10 times a year? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

    • @thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259
      @thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259 3 года назад +1

      @@aussiesupersnake6642 Along with displacement comes torque. To get a boat on plane quickly requires torque. If the engine isn't turning (due to giant prop), it can't make torque.
      Sounds like the boat is propped for speed.

    still runs a shit oiling system , so before you pay 1k and up for a lump of cast crap look at buying a Dart , the main advantage on the pillow block over a stock cleveland block that he fails to mention is they have thick sleeves and can be bored out 60 and sometimes 80 thou over , but they still are junk if you want revs

    • @aussiesupersnake6642
      @aussiesupersnake6642 3 года назад

      It depends what doing with it,these oem blocks were only meant for 300 hp as GT even with oiling system were not a problem,but with restrictors in a thick block they are good for 650 hp and 7500 rpm,after that you need a Dart/Arrow or Tim Meyer boss Cleveland block,if you have genuine 351 car for resale value,you better sticking to oem block

  • @MrJak427
    @MrJak427 3 года назад +1

    It’s just a std Cleveland block with pillows on the side they don’t even increase the coolant capacity if you had checked inside the water jacket you would have seen/felt that it’s no different to a std Cleveland I have one down the shed and have checked it.
    nothing to be excited about and worth no more than a std block...
    The XE block that had the full thickness pan rail and bulkhead are worth a lot more.
    The reason these pillows found there way onto the side of these late std castings could simply be, that the sand molding pattern was modified for the XE block and that Modified part to make the sand moldings was simply use in the production bock from then on

    • @johnkraft7461
      @johnkraft7461 3 года назад +1

      Yeah, maybe so - but the cool thing about them is that it showed how much Ford Australia was tinkering away with a discontinued US design with slow incremental improvements. It's a shame the clevo didn't get half the love the xflow six did back then with their alloy heads. 👍
