  • This tutorial is a great study and exercise for you to develop and master your skills and understandings of the fundamental steps and processes of watercoloring landscapes. Whether you are a beginner or intermediate watercolor student, landscapes and sky-scapes are a must-know skillset and once mastered, will open up all sorts of visual opportunities for you.
Practicing your skills with landscapes will develop your sensitivities to color, value, composition and will help develop your watercolor "hand".
This will be a frustrating subject, but don't give up. Do it until you get it "right". I had to repaint this scene four times until I was satisfied.

Oh good, I'm glad my American, midwest English is coming across well. Thanks for watching.

I really enjoyed your "real time" video and the alla prima approach. A lot less detail and more of a loose painting style. I'm not much for landscapes either. I'm still practicing fruit, still life and things around the house. Trying to blend colors for some realism. I've done 6 pears and only 1 turned out. Practice, practice, practice. My sister looked over my shoulder the other day and said, "Another pear?"

Yes, yet another pear. Keep painting them until you have it nailed. Don't worry about those that don't turn out. Thanks for the comment and have fun practicing.
