This episode is hands down my favorite I’ve ever watched from you guys. 2 absolute all star guests talking about PA, public, private, and sharing stories along the way. Could have watched another 4 hours while at work 🤙🏻
Some of your best episodes without a doubt are where you guys are just talking like close buddies. The information comes in between the lines so to speak yet it's still jammed pack with good knowledge. Thanks for another great episode!
Over an hour in. What I've learned so far is. Killing a big buck is hard. Do your best and you got a chance. Deer are different. Everyone hunts different terrain, food, early mid late rut, scrapes rubs, browse, bedding. So many variables. Just put yourself in the best possible place to kill a buck from your scouting Intel. Learn each time you go out. It might takes a few years to figure it out
I don’t know what kind of geometry they teach you boys in Pennsyltuckey but that is a rectangular table. Seriously, that was a great podcast. I do miss deer camp.
I have in-laws in Menifee County over by Wellington. Crazy how few deer are taken out of there but I do see some big ones from time to time. Tons of turkeys!
one would think that in the time it takes to hang 72 cameras in other states, you could probably find THE spot with boots on the ground haha just a thought
lol yea probably. It’s a fine line, we for sure are stretched too thin and could kill way more bucks if we focused on one or two states. But the adventures each season are our victories
One hour to go and I am completely disappointed. How in the world can you go from 1792 full proof to flavored Black Velvet and Captain Morgan!?!? I was waiting for something like WT Rare Breed, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, Old Forester 1920 or 4🌹's Barrel Strength or a good Islay Single Malt Scotch. I guess I'm gonna have to bring something when I come down someday.😂 Top tier podcasts requires top tier Whiskey.😁
Can't beat a 4 hour podcast! Can't believe you guys are thinking about selling to Illinois place already. I am wondering if you guys think we will ever see anymore steps taken in PA to try and take the next leap into a better state for bigger bucks. I say there really is not anything because of the shear numbers. The biggest change already happen thanks to Gary Alt. I do not believe we see another Gary Alt figure again because certain individuals at the state level will not allow that to take place. As one of you guys have stated, "Who is the head deer biologist in PA, Ohio etc." and no one can name that person in countless states because they are protected.
Just hard to imagine staying there knowing what that amount of money can do elsewhere. But we will see. I think PA will continue to get better, in 20 years we have made a massive leap, in 10 more we will be producing deer comparable to many of the big whitetail states, unless a negative regulation comes into play
Listen, I was right there as a young guy saying I'm hunting no matter what. I would see guys get married and say I have no time, especially when kids come in the picture. " That will never happen to me" was my mentality. I was the exact same way "it doesn't compute". But now I'm in that exact position and It computes! I was the guy who never missed a day from archery to late flintlock unless sick or bad weather. Not counting rattle snake season, and fishing seasons including ice fishing. Now it's completely flipped. I hunt 3-5 days a year. And haven't fished once for several years. I've seen guys marriages be ruined because the guy was hunting no matter what. I've seen friendships lost because other guys couldn't get time to go hunt with thier buddies. It's even worse when you look at those in the industry ( hunt for a living). How many times to do here of those who have hunted for a living fall prey to the celebrity lifestyle. I've learned to prioritize that God comes first, then family, then work, then hunting. I'm self employed and hunt right out my backdoor, I'm that close to my treestand I can walk from home to it... and time to hunt is still hard to come by. I was also saved right before I got married. Which is probably the biggest factor in all this change in thinking. My week revolves around the Lord's Day. Then spending time with my family. I'm sure I'll have more time to hunt as kids get older but you can't be stubborn or selfish or other things in your life are going to suffer. What would it profit a man if he gains the world ( best hunting land, have the top TV/youtube show, top teir income, kills the biggest bucks, has unbelievable memories in the field, has a dream house and camps in multiple hunting states, has the perfect hunters wife, have kids who are successful) yet looses his soul. I have lots of thoughts on this subject as you can tell.
Great show men! It’s you verse the woods and that animal one on one, but in the end it’s about relationship with family and friends. It’s is EXACTLY how God designed us and why he gave his son Jesus on the cross for all of us. For RELATIONSHIP! Nothing counts if you don’t have others to share with no matter what it is you do. We must keep pouring into each other and cheering each other on and calling each other out to do better. It’s all part of it, but it starts and ends with Relationships! Thanks gentlemen…..
The way you guys talk about Pennsylvania sounds like hell. I wouldn't hunt that state if you paid me to. Its not skill in a high pressure state like that its almost all luck. Just people pushing deer around
