I shared this. I'm not well connected and even tho I have receipts for my support of the civil rights movement throughout my life, my skin color allows me to take a break from one aspect, while my gender gives me reason to stay in shape. The only noticeable difference I've made in my own environment, is those who've known me, just a short time, will "shush” a newcomer if a racist comment or joke is about to pass their lips in my presence. That said, I've tried to recall any experience of someone shying away from or blocking another from making sexist assumptions or comments in my presence. Which brings me back to Roland's speech. Giving props to women then later specifically white women no matter the light to where it was shown. felt like a genuine acknowledgement that wasn't expected.

This is a little off-topic and no offense to anyone, but I know they coming out with that Martin Luther King and Malcolm X movie. I am not a fan of non-African-American playing roles like this. More than likely, I will not watch the movie just like I did not watch the Harriet Tubman movie and just like I did not watch the Whitney Houston movie. those rolls are too great and they need to be played by an African-American. Picking someone that’s not African-American for those particular roles is like somebody white playing Michael Jordan. No offense to anyone. But to me, those rolls are too great in life. if Bob Marley family was OK with someone that’s not Jamaican to play Bob Marley then that’s their business but I also think that Bob Marley should’ve been played by a Jamaican.
