I don’t think her size is the problem ... it’s her timid voice that makes her seem like an easy target . On top of her being so soft spoken her body posture looks too relaxed and unsure at times . She needs talk walk with more confidence and speak with more authority in her voice . I wish her much success and safety in her career . Much respect for her getting into that line of work . It’s hard enough having to prove yourself when you’re so petite and young looking working with women I couldn’t imagine working with men and having to prove myself .

This Young Lady is a LION and is Fearless, however, that in and of itself does not end the situation. The "Animals" inside the prison have no care about murdering someone. This officers size IS an issue. Her size alone is a challenge to the inmates. It will be seen as a "We can send in anyone to guard you" I DO NOT underestimate "her abilities" but it is a FACT that the inmates WILL. And for that FACT alone she should NOT be there PERIOD.
I already just respect her so much for doing THAT job.

I was a detention officer for several years and there were times a new officer would come in and on their first day would go to lunch and never come back and they were men so I give this girl all the credit in the world. It’s not an easy job for anyone. Most people have no idea what it’s really like inside these facilities.

I admire her, she is very brave and I love that she wants to prove everyone wrong, she might be small but she is a powerful young woman and I commend her. Smart to, she watched quietly and learned, respects the inmates as humans because of her father being incarcerated, I think she makes an awesome CO and I hope she accomplishes her goal and makes it to the FBI. I love to see other woman prove to everyone that they are just as capable as the next guy.

I volunteered in a prison when I was 20 and in university helping with a literacy program. One important thing I am seeing in these comments are people acting like inmates are not human. I had very few bad experiences in my time tutoring at the prison and actually only ever received respect despite me having been a shy young girl at the time.
This young lady is doing a job a lot of other people could not do. Her training instructor even said she has proved everyone wrong. You don't need to yell, be physically large and attempt to overpower others to have control. At 9:59 when she asks the man to keep the comments to himself, you can see him back off and nod. Inmates are people just like anybody else - maybe treating them with respect could be one way to get respect back?

I can honestly relate to her, I started working corrections when I was around 21, I was also very skinny. those guys made me feel very uncomfortable n intimidated, but I didn’t showed them. I always maintained my posture n stayed firm. I was pretty smart n sarcastic, but at the same time strict and professional that’s when they stop messing with me n gained respect. I was doing my job and writing cases almost all day, but they stopped messing with me. Don’t show them fear!! Raise your voice n mantain your posture, n the most important don’t let them get to you & control your emotions.
