      In my opinion, the crux of arcane can be described as: The bonds of love cannot be unbroken no matter how hard you try. Real unconditional love will be both your greatest downfall and your saving grace, and you’ll be powerless to stop it.
      You see this theme in every single relationship in Arcane, some more obvious than others. Love is what makes and breaks almost every character. Love is what forges all of us, and love also hurts and scars us deeply.
      Warlord Ambessa’s realises that her love for her daughter makes her weak, and sends Mel away. Despite whatever walls and distance she keeps between them though, they love each other in a way that is unbreakable and ever lasting.
      Vi admits to Jinx (or perhaps Powder?) that there is nothing that she can say or do that can stop her from loving her, and break the care Vi has for her.
      Even in that scene where Cait and Vi break up for the first time on the bridge (having two break ups before you’re even together in the span of 2 days is the most certified lesbian moment but anyway) that bond similarly can’t be broken, and you even for a moment see Cait putting herself in the line of fire to protect Vi (Vi is such a damsel in distress but you don’t even notice it lol). That could have killed her. Her growing affection for Vi could have killed her and it didn’t.
      And finally, Silco and Jinx’s relationship concludes with silco literally dying for the love he has for his daughter. He sacrifices his life goal for her. Even after she shoots him accidentally (“jinxing” her fathers life, leading to her accepting her identity as a jinx) he cannot stop loving her. There is nothing she could do (murdering innocent people, hurting others seemingly for the fuck of it, even killing him, indirectly “jinxing” the cause he’s fought his entire life for) that bond can’t be broken.
      Idk sorry I got really into it

I Cared About Powder, Her Actual Sister, And Her Mental Health. Silco Is Evil, I Will Never Side With Him, No Matter How Good The Voice Acting Was And How Complex The Character Is. Throughout The Whole Show I Only Cared About Powder, Could've Cared Less For Anyone Else. Silco Was Manipulative... So Manipulative Infact, I Guess You Can Say He Even Manipulated Some Of The Fans Lmao.

      Silco's whole deal was the end justifies the means, which is why he fought Vander. Vanders peace was stalling and not moving the goal forward. In his mind, anything can be sacrificed for a free Zaun... until it was his daughters turn to be sacrificed. He finally found something he cared for more than his revolution. He did care for her, but was also a evil, deceitful, manipulative terrorist. I found him interesting because he actually changed. I feel that's rather rare for a villain.
      Jinx by the end of the show is just broken. Its sad. I don't think she could come back and even if she could; she has at minimum, killed a dozen enforcers, caused massive property damage, and attacked the council. The last of which we don't yet know the results of. I sympathized with jinx, wished she could be saved, but she needs to be locked up. She is too far gone.

      I see it less like Thanos and Gamora, and more like a dark Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. Silco saw a familiar pain, the betrayal of a sibling-figure, abandonment, not being valued for your commitment to do what’s necessary for freedom… a kindred spirit. He loved her the way he wanted to be loved. He trained her to have the strength and fearlessness that he needed to develop in himself. He taught her to never trust anybody but him, because he was the only one that he himself trusted. He never sought to manipulate her with the goal of manipulation. He manipulated her with the goal of protecting her from the pain he’s felt, and from the world as he’s experienced it.
      Yes, he’s the bad guy. Yes he does evil things, but a major point of this show is to point out that darkness exists on both sides as a response to evil acts of the other. Silco was made out of the necessity to survive the oppression of the Upper City, as was Vander. Vander wasn’t willing to go to the lengths Silco was, but both became who they became out of the need to protect a daughter they saw as a reflection of themselves.
      You’re free to hate him. I hate him too. He’s a very hate-able character. But don’t outright refuse to understand a character or see the depth and reasoning they poses, just because you don’t like them. That’s the literal definition of willful ignorance, and you’re depriving yourself of experiencing a massive portion of the story that the series has to tell.

    My favorite character, bar none, is Ekko. Schnee did a really outstanding breakdown of the character, and it really catapulted him into being my favorite character of the entire series. Piltover is corrupt, Zaun is corrupt, but Ekko is 100% about caring for those in need, and providing a safe place for the vulnerable. He isn't about politics... the only politics that he cares about are whether or not you are trying to help his people or hurt his people. Heck, the only reason they were going after Silco's shipment of shimmer at the beginning was because he was actively seeking them out to destroy them. So... anything that diminishes Silco's power is something that diminishes his ability to harm them. It is a messed-up kind of setting when that is a valid criteria for the "purest" faction in the series.

      Yeah! I REALLY love the way they developed his character. I already loved his league counterpart, but arcane took the essence of the character and fine tuned every aspect perfectly to the new setting (I especially love the way they updated his hairstyle, keeping the white Mohawk shape while taking away the extra silliness of the original design and adding a hair texture that suits him was such a great little tweak. He still absolutely looks like himself, but more grown up and easy to take seriously.) And he is really the new heart of zaun, after the loss of vander. Yeaaaaa so In League there was voice monologues of both Jink and Ekko hinting that Ekko had a crush on Jinx before she went insane. He's a complex character but objectively speaking, he's killed Vander, Milo and Claggor- seperated Vi and Powder, flooded the Undercity with Shimmer and enforced his rules by sheer force. Not to mention how he transferred his rage against Vander to Jinx - who is messed up by her trauma, to say the least. She suffers from her villainy because it will always lead her back to the turning point of the show - Jinx is a character with deep guilt, trauma and insecurity - and what did Silco do? He taught her how to weaponize all of that and she grew up to kill scores of people just to prove a point or show her loyalty to Silco. She never had any strong opinions about Piltover and The Undercity before or after she became Jinx - all she's ever cared about is acceptance.

    Imma also say this, Jinx once again killed someone she loved on accident. Her brain heard the click of the gun and went immediately into fight mode so she grabbed her gun and shot at whoever caused the gun to click which happened to have been Silco. Milo was right, Jinx is a jinx and she realized it after killing Silco. Her kneeling in front of Silco like a small child and the light completely gone from her eyes just broke my heart. And then her accepting she’s a jinx, god this show pulls my heart strings.
    Also, she’s not wrong about Vi not loving her like she use to or how they’ve both changed. Before the events of ep 3 Violet would’ve seriously injured or killed Caitlyn, hell she wanted to go to war to fight the enforcers. Now she has feelings for Caitlyn, big enough feelings to pick her over “getting Powder back”. Also, Vi refused to call Jinx by her name except for one time to the council. That’s a sign of Vi not accepting Jinx because she’s not Powder. Jinx wanted to be accepted as who she was even if she’s crazy, she just wanted affection and a sense of comfort.

    • @darksaint0124
      @darksaint0124 Год назад +7

      A lot of people tend to forget that Caitlyn is an enforcer and Vi would have never have been caught dead doing anything with an enforcer beforehand. Way too many people say that Vi didn't change, but that is a very fundamental change of her character.

    • @mansishukla6779
      @mansishukla6779 3 месяца назад

      I think after episode 3, Vi realised that her deadliest enemy was Silco - not Topsiders. She didn't even know much about him initially and in one night, he led to the death of three family members and changed her life. She was forced to partner up with Caitlyn because she wanted to find Powder and defeat Silco but after meeting Powder - she understood that her sister is part of the problem. During that time, of course she got to know Caitlyn and predictably, started caring about her as well. For Vi, there is no point in liberating the undercity if it means Silco's the one in control. He's already made the place much worse with Shimmer and the only pocket of resistance left is Ekko and the Firelights. She hasn't actually changed, because she was always capable of knowing the difference between right and wrong, even if the right thing means cooperating with people you've always hated. (Not dissimilar to the way Vander kept the Lanes free of enforcers, thanks to his agreement with Marcus' predecessor).I think both Vi and Jinx mirror Vander and Silco as characters. People love Silco and Jinx as characters (which is completely understandable) but that doesn't change the fact hat these two are objectively bad for the undercity. You don't fix a bad situation by making it worse. Silco and Jinx value loyalty, victory at any cost whereas Vander and Vi end up changing sides or cooperating with the other side in order to do the right thing.

    Silco is my favorite character in Arcane. He was betrayed and almost killed by a man he regarded as his own brother, when all he really wanted to do, was to make an independent civilization, where they could live in peace. He truly did love Jinx, since he saw himself in her. (betrayed by a sibling). That is why my favorite line in Arcane is "We'll show them." Their relationship might've been toxic as hell, but it was real.

      It gonna be chaos.
      Better they need to improve the relation between the two
      ESPECIALLY, I talk about heimerdinger here. He is the founder. What stuff that forbid him to not unites the two places? 😅
      What undercity need is simply just some security stuff. Wealth security, crime security, health stuff, etc. Some quality of life stuff. It's not about a new government in that city.
      And in fact, undercity dont have any resources except for the mining region maybe? Idk where is this mining area. But for sure it is underground, right?
      If this zaun nation thing created, they need to import like 90% of their stuff 😅. Especially from piltover above.

      @@DBT1007 Dude, you do understand that there was an East and West Berlin, right? It was only unified due to the collapse of the USSR.
      Piltover and Zaun are separated by a river too. Piltover also treat the people of the under-city like shit because they didn't care about them, that's why Vander (and likely Silco) revolted against Piltover.
      It's hinted at when Silco has the "meeting" with the chem barons. He says;
      "Do you not remember where we came from? The mines they had us in? Air so thick it clogged your throat, stuck in your eyes.."
      Piltover used those people and they eventually had enough, and when they revolted, and Piltover put them down, brutally. (Bonus titbit: Heimerdinger was head of the council, so he knew. Did he order such brutal force to be used? Why not talk to those people?)
      Its already too late to unify both sides, Jayce says that himself;
      "I’m not fit to govern the people who live there, and neither are you. Our opportunity to demonstrate our compassion, our dedication, our solidarity, has passed."
      With Silco in charge and keeping people in line (with force) there was a chance of peace, even if it came about by Jayce giving Silco what he wanted and letting everything that has previously happened slide. The only conditions were to stop the production of Shimmer, Hand back the Gemstone and to give up Jinx. The latter proving impossible for Silco and him finally realising why Vander gave up.
      It’s probably also the reason why Vander tried to kill Silco, Vander wanted peace to protect Vi and Powder (and likely others), but Silco wanted to keep going, to keep fighting.

      I think it also boggles my mind how people think Silco MADE Jinx crazy. Jinx is literally at her most mentally stable when she's with him. The only time she had a breakdown around him as right before he died.
      I think people see the good guy and bag guy and read into things too much through that lense. They act like Vi and Vander were perfect and never handed her, and Silco was evil and never did anything right. Everyone who cared for Jinx did good things for her and hut her. All of them.
      Vi was living in the past, Jinx didn't feel loved as herself she felt like Vi wanted a part of her that simply doesn't exist anymore. People tend to conflate it with her being mentally well, but she can be mentally well without being Powder. Jinx is not a symbol of her mental illness, Jinx is a symbol of her embracing who she always was, an intellectual sharpshooter and gadget whiz. For Vi to deny Jinx, although not meaning too, does not read as her wanting wanting her sister to be happy, but be the version of he that was meek, and didn't live up to her potential.
      As for Silco, he was a bad person and a crimelord so OBVIOUSLY not the ideal father. But he did demonstrate excellent parenting skills in many ways. The first time we see him talk to grown Jinx in Progress Day was excellently handled. He asked her for her side, he didn't insult her or make her feel bad for making a mistake, he told her that he believes in her and he knows she's capable while also not glossing over the seriousness of her error, and told her to take a mental health break. That was excellent. He also clearly isn't afraid to discipline her if he believes she crosses a line. He does talk her down.
      Both "sides" harmed AND hurt. He didn't have a grip on her mind, she listened to him because she WANTED to and she stopped listening and soon as she didn't want to anymore. Most of the time he manipulated her, he wasn't actually even lying to her. It's still bad don't get me wrong, but he's not this mastermind trying to control her like people paint her as, he could NEVER control Jinx if she didn't want to help. He is manipulative, but to keep her with him because he loves her so much. Again, still bad, but not the 10000% pure evil people act like he is.

    Heres the thing i think you maybe misudnerstood is that while u did understand silco loves jinx you still think vi was the on powder shoudlve went to and that vi loved her more etc. However this is incorrect as yes vi loves powder but vi doesent love jinx. At the end of the day while its the same phyiscal person jinx is to far gone to ever be powder again thats what silcos your perfect meant. Jinxs big character arc is being torn between powder and jinx and who she really is. Vi wants her to just go back back to being who she was and just ebcome her sweet innocent little sister again but at this point jinx cant shes too broken emotionally and has done so many horrible things she can never go back to being powder. Thats why at the end she chose silco, because at the end of the day his final words even though he has every right to hate her at that moment. His first instinct wasnt hate or regret but love and trying to make sure she will be ok. He was willing to give up zaun the thing he worked his entire life for, for her. THats why jinx chose him and her new identity. Where as vi only loved the powder from before and the way she used to be. silco showed love for her no matter what or who she was no matter what she did he always would love her more than anything. Is silco a good guy, absoloutely not, did he do horrible things? fuck yeah, hell is he even the best dad- def not. But at the end of the day where as vi was stuck in the past of who jinx used to be, silco showed love for her no matter what she was, to him she was perfect. Vi maybe could love jinx the way she is now but the entire show shes only ever bringing up how powder used to be and their lives before shwoing no effort to understand the way she is now so even if she can love jinx now she doesent show it, thus making the choice for jinx to choose silco easier for her as she knows she would be loved no matter what in that chair.

      It's not about misunderstanding, it's about simply disagreeing with you.
      Vi only met Jinx for a few hours, of course she doesn't know her yet, it takes time to get to know someone again, but even after she saw she was different, she wanted to stay by her side. Silco however, has been with her for so long and he never accepted her, telling her she needs to kill powder, he wanted to build her up to become his own vision of Zaun, he didn't actually accept her as she was, he didn't like Powder, only Jinx, when up until the last episode, she is both. Even with his baptism, Silco couldn't kill Powder.
      Both of them truly loved her and wanted the best for her in their own ways, both are so flawed, but trying to say Vi didn't love her as much as Silco? And that Silco was the better option? lmao please.

      Right, that`s the beautiful thing about "Arcane": All the "heroes" are flawed as fuck(Vi lacks accountability for her mistakes until she`s already made them and then just keeps making them anyways and pities herself for the unwanted consequences that result but doesn`t really empathize with Powder/Jinx and yet somehow expects by some miracle her baby sister to be less selfish and more empathic than herself even though she does little to set that example and what she does do in that respect is all very superficial, idealizes the past failing to see how it traumatizes others despite being somewhat traumatized herself and punches first ,asks questions later, Caitlyn is not as prejudiced as most Pilties towards the Zaunites but her upper class privilege still colors how she views them and their customs , Mylo has zero patience for Powder a little girl making mistakes, Claggor despite being the most physically imposing of the younger Lanes hates physical confrontation and carrying his weight unless he absolutely has to which is why although he disagrees with Mylo`s cynicism about Powder he never challenges him on it unlike Vi who`s her big sister and yet even she doesn`t challenge it whilst Powder is in earshot at any point ,Vander doesn`t want to repeat the sins of his past but he`s so afraid of losing his adoptive family or them making the same mistakes he fails to properly educate them or prepare them for the dirty and violent politics of Piltover and Zaun, Heimerdinger`s age and paranoia about magic which makes him a hypocrite considering magic is the reason Yordles like him can live so much longer than humans to begin with makes him unempathetic of the struggles of the Zaunites until he befriends Viktor and Ekko and even then it`s in a very shallow way, Jayce and Marcus blindly buy into the Council`s anti-Zaunite prejudices yet exploit Silco and Viktor`s patient natures, both selling out their own people in essence yet naturally only the Zaunites get judged for it even though Silco doesn`t even follow through with the deal in the end because he cannot bring himself to give up Jinx) and the "villains" all have very human motivations of wanting to be seen as equals or as worthwhile as their neighbors above, wanting to be feared instead of in fear, not wanting to feel worthless, not wanting to die, be seen as weak, lose money or be left behind.

    Vi is one of the strongest characters in the Arcane, Not only physically strong, but also psychologically strong. She endured all this pain from the death of her family, the loss of her sister, and her imprisonment and torture for years. All this and she is still steadfast as Vander said to her, "You have a good heart, do not lose it, no matter how hard the world tries to break you." Yes, Vi did not let circumstances define her character, like the rest of the characters.

      Vi is very strong, but I would argue she's far from the psychologically strongest. Vi is honestly helped by the fact that she is a very simple person. Not as in stupid, but straight-forward: if there is a problem, hit it. And we see in the show there are times where that's the correct way to do things, and times where it doesn't work. And when it doesn't work she really doesn't know what to do.
      Personally I think Ekko is the strongest character and best leader in the show. He experienced tragedy just like Vi and Powder, but at the end of episode 3 he's completely on his own. Somehow, alone, he managed to create a community of people, especially those who were worst affected by Silco's reign. Despite everything, he's still a good person. An incredibly and justifiably angry and mistrusting person, but a good one.

Those kids in the factory don't have parents, jobs, orphanages or a social security check lol. There are no doctors giving out medical care for anything less than your entire savings, only mad scientists hiding away from Enforcers. Vander kept Zaun in stasis out of his own guilt, it may mean peace for now but kids are still being born stillborn from the toxic fumes, enforcers roam the streets beating people for fun, people getting cheated and not being able to move up in the world or have their talents shine. Silco on the other hand introduced survival of the fittest. Now there are entrepreneurs and industry leaders, Enforcers don't dare tread the streets and for the first time Zaunites are making demands from Piltovers. Heck the only reason Silco was able to even bargain for Zaun was because of Jinx's Terrorism...

    "I thought, maybe you could love me like you used to, but you've changed to" ~ Jinx.
    As father as daughter. Vi represents Vander, and Jinx represents Silco, two brothers, and two sisters.
    Vander and Silco fought together to create the undercity and be independent, after failing, Vander retired but Silco wanted to stay. Even though Vander betrayed Silco, he kept the respect for him, until he made an Enforcer friend (Grayson) to keep peace.
    Jinx and Vi's story is kinda similar. After Vi left Powder in episode 3 (Marcus stopped her from comming back), Powder was left alone with Silco, his ideals now became hers. So, when she saw Vi made an enforcer friend (Caitlyn) she felt betrayed.
    Those last words she said to Vi meant that, it's impossible to go back from Jinx to Powder. She will never heal, she's been damaged for a long time, but Vi only sees her as Powder, she doesn't like the new Persona of Jinx. What Silco said is right, she's gonna turn her back on Jinx when she realizes she's not that little girl anymore.

She shoots at the council starting a war while they were agreeing on peace so if she hadn’t shot, Silco would’ve won his nation of zaun (independent undercity). Everything about her character is that all the terrible things that happen in this show could’ve been avoided if she followed one simple instruction from vi. She jinxes everything she does. Also silco was feeling the same way as vander when talking to the statue since he was so close to freeing the undercity but now understands vanders perspective on loving jinx like his daughter how vander loved vi and in the end he couldn’t give her up either. From someone who has watched this show about 17 + times I’m still seeing things that strike me as impressive story telling.
    In the opening scene of episode one you see an enforcer shooting someone point blank and then the scene starts to get scrambled and scratchy…
    That’s because this is powder’s perspective and that was her mother getting shot execution style in front of her. This causes her mind to start to break and hallucinate as she looks at the dead people around her.
    And another detail just from episode one is the cleaver reveal of what valuable currency looks like. When the kids are just about to get shook down for their haul, Deckard is rolling a somewhat silver coin in his hand.
    This becomes important in a coming up scene where Huck is getting scammed by two thugs and they show a bronze looking coin (Ofc bronze being a value that all league players are quite familiar with 😂).
    But the ability to show more information about the world and setting without directly explaining it with dialog, is something that I see this show do with absolute mastery.
    I wish other writers could replicate such remarkable storytelling.

    The reason why Silco pointed the gun at Vi in that moment was because Vi was forcing Jinx to remember so she can be 'Powder' again. In Vi's defense, she didn't know that for Jinx; remembering Vander, Mylo and Claggor causes her PTSD to trigger because she had blamed herself with their death and the auditory hallucinations were definitely not helping.
    Silco IS the main villain and the antagonist of this season don't get me wrong, not saying he's just misunderstood, man did kill people and did shady things after all. But just like Vander, he was willing to give up what he believes in to save his daughter. The pinnacle scene was with Silco and Vander's statue and his quote 'Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?' It parallels Vander's decision with leaving the rebellion to take care of the sisters. And for others saying it: No, he's not like Thanos in that regard because he tortured Nebula and killed Gamora to get what he wants.

      Think about that longer than the five seconds you took to write it and it'll sound ridiculous. Silco already set the trap, spreading the rumor that Vander "fled town with his kids and was never heard from again". He had a juiced-up Deckard right on their tails. We're even blatantly shown that he was about to cave in the door (both my the massive dents at the top and bottom, as well as ripping it off after the blast), meaning he'd have been on top of them in just a minute longer. Claggor breaking the wall would have done... what exactly? They weren't on the ground floor and had no way to shimmy down--we saw Vander leap out a multi-story window with Vi to prove that. Even if they HAD miraculously escaped Deckard and all the guards everywhere, who was going to stop Deckard from catching them moments later? They can't fight him. They can't outrun him. If Vander was busy trying to "escape" with the kids, who would have held off Deckard? Who would have taken the shimmer to stop him? You have to form credible thoughts based on the context presented, not make-believe scenarios you cooked up out of nowhere.
      Escaping was never an option. They were all going to die. Powder's intervention ended up saving her and Vi's lives, but also tragically shifted the "blame" onto herself. There was no possible scenario in which that escape worked.

    (maybe spoilers) i feel kind of bad that you are this late to the show but its good and bad, ive seen the show 6 times now and i'm so keen for season 2 but your over a year late to the show so you don't have to wait as long as the day 1 warchers haha (played league 2011-2016) i got some of my non animation watching friends into arcane told them they only need to start episodde 3 3 and they will be hooked i was right every time in a week i would have messages like i finished it that was insane, but no one truly appreciated the ending. i cried the first time i watched
    just heard you wonder if their are small things players would understand there absolutely are but the main reason i got others to watch is because if they don't play the game they don't know who the characters from the game are or what to predict but the players get the most immersive experience seeing all of the details that just click (10/10 show for everyone)
