  • "That makes me happiest to know that we're not just building trails for one segment of our community; we're building it for a broad cross-section of folks that want to get outside and run and walk and bike and roll with their family and their friends."
East Coast Greenway Alliance Virginia & Washington, D.C. Manager Elliott Caldwell shares an update on the dramatic Greenway progress in his region. In Washington, D.C., the Greenway is nearing completion, and momentum is on our side in Virginia, where 20-25 percent of the route is currently in planning design or construction. As part of our recent Impact Series, Elliott discussed new additions to the Greenway in the region, two cycle tracks in D.C. and the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway Trail.

I live closer towards the Richmond, colonial heights, Petersburg section of the Fall trail and I can not WAIT until it is all connected. I have to drive 30 min to enjoy the richmond section because it all highway between me and the longer more open more beautiful parts of the trails. I would love to start at Petersburg and be able to stay on my bike or hike all the way to richmond to enjoy a meal and come back in the same day. Let alone bike as far as I can and be able to stay overnight somewhere bike friendly! Take a shower stretch and bike back home! wow!
