This is a pretty simple projection to get working. The app and driver can be found on the Google Play Store. Look here for more info: sdr.martinmarinov.info/
Did you make your own antenna? Just wondering what the antenna connector in the dongle is called? How long is the antenna, is it tuned for a certain frequency range? I'm guessing that since it's receive only that there's no need to worry about what the SWR reading is?, as far as possible equipment damage, I don't know that receive only would cause issues with the wrong size antenna? (I'm new to antenna building)
I did the samething you did by recently purchasing a DVB-T+DAB+FM+SDR USB TV Dongle, initially was bought for the purpose of Digital/Analog TV reception but unfortunately didn't work so now use it as FM radio receiver. I don't have a USB hub which needed external power supply, but drawing power from the phone still worked. Would powering off the phone affects reception? Is it worth buying the licence key?I don't usually listen to radio but thought it's a good alternative of getting free entertainment than off Data connection. Cheers.
any chances that you would couch me to use this software in my phone! I have exactly the same hardware and software. but so far it have been impossible to do the same with the same results that you have!!
I had used SDR# on my netbook some time ago and decided to buy an Android phone to try it. I can't seem to get any driver to download from the play store. I get "Waiting for download" and "install" remains grayed out.
hey that's all great and all but how do you connect to the sdr server on another machine that has the dongle with the app on an adroid? i can't find any android apps that actually use tcp to connect and act as the SDR on the phone. Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?
There are battery-powered USB hubs out there, so *maybe* you don't need to connect to AC. I have an old CyberPower USB 2.0 hub which has 4 AAA batteries. RUclips has do-it-yourself versions too. That would make your setup a lot more mobile. Of course you could also use an inverter connected to your car battery to supply a regular powered hub.
Mine worked without the hub for ten minutes. Samsung Galaxy Avant. The phone was fully charged. After that it worked just once. Since then it says that no device was found. I did come up with a dialog box saying that my phone is not able to power the dongle.
Others show basically same thing without using a powered hub, so why do you use one? Apparently the other guys's phones have enough power. Good info however and thanks!
You can also of course plug in a usb powwr bank to make this a portable rig. My phone powered up my sdr dongle so I dodnt think anything of it but maybe I DO actually need to power it woth an outside source to use it as I could barely pick up local FM radio stations and no ham radio.
JackstandJohnny ... The weak fm is due to the antenna. If you are using the little antenna supplied with the dongle try connecting a short piece of wire to it.
I have two tablets and both are strong enough to rev up a USB powered fan. Ordered the RTL SDR dongle and I hope it works. I have both SDR Touch and the RTL driver thingy. I wish they didn't charge $8.99 for the full version. That's like highway robbery. Might try another app.
Yes, it definitely can. I'm actually thinking about making a video on that, but I think there are some videos showing this already. You basically need a virtual audio cable to route audio from the SDR software to APRS software.
Thanks for the reply. I would be interested in a video like that. I could not find one when I searched. I have played with VAC before when I was attempting to use two dongles for a trunking scanner with no success on an XP machine. Maybe I will revisit it on Win7
Hey you said it's a powerd hub but I'm seeing another plug 🔌 that's attached what is it it's nothing to do with the other stuff it's that plug on the hub you failed to mention it. And the plug I'm referring to is the one that looks like a headphone jack
Yeah, me too. But it’s been painted. A few times for different jobs. The input voltage letters are long gone. Any idea what it is? WAnna avoid blowing it. Thanks
I'm kind stupid for this but if i make this can anyone locate me like they can with radio-station.... Like cops finding ham radios that are talking in their frequency.
Of course not. You are not broadcasting anything, just receiving. (There are of course SDRs that can broadcast too, like the HackRF, but that's another story.)
You start your video with "Hey guys um". A vocal pause after two words. Vocal pauses mean you are trying to hold the attention of your audience while you think of what to say next. Try writing down a rough draft of what you want to say. Practice reading it aloud.
Great Demo! Thanks for the time and the instruction. Super cool!
I have a Samsung S3 and it puts out plenty of power to run the SDR by itself. I'm glad that I don't need the extra part.
Can i use this to pick up rf signals from a hidden device in my car??
How would you use it to "tune in" to a celluar LTE frequency to improve signal strength and then use a repeater to broadcast locally in your home?

Hi Tony, which USB hub did you use in this video?

Same thing here got both apps but it wont power on it says no device connected check usb host mode

Do you have to install drivers on the dongle before using for SDR Touch?
You install the driver to your phone.
does this do p25? phase 2? 700mhz
do you need a sdr usb to get this to work?
How do you record the audio?

Can you get a tuner to plug into a satellite antenna and pull down weather maps ??
NOAA weather maps are on the Internet now.
@robert orzech
Short answer: Yes!
Long answer: www.instructables.com/id/Receiving-Images-From-Passing-Weather-Satellites-N
You would need a special antenna
Where did you purchase that USB OTG cable? Thanks!
available at Amazon
could the tv dongle be used as a receiver to set up an APRS igate? Maybe not on an android device but on a regular PC?
Yes, it definitely can. I'm actually thinking about making a video on that, but I think there are some videos showing this already. You basically need a virtual audio cable to route audio from the SDR software to APRS software.

Will it work on a J2 Prime?
What was the name of that driver...
The application requires to be connected to internet ? Thanks for your reply
Nope that's the beauty of this!
what is the selectivity on HAM band e.g. 14 Mhz

I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO USE THE GARAGE BAND USB HUB AS A USB HUB
I tried this with an SDRplay model, and got nowhere.

SDR touch comes in a demo for just listening to radio. If you want all of the real nice features of SDR touch it costs $9.99!!!!!!
thank you for the heads up
Nie umiem tego
Offset is minus 100 mhz
Might as well just use the PC
Need a preamp for better signal? www.h-instruments.com/product/widebandamplifier30db
Dude, before you do a live review on something, do you homework and make sure you know how it works. you are vague.
Love that brain-dead software that dies after 2 minutes.....
needing an external power supply like a hub defeats the purpose of it being portable
