Hi Stephen thank you so much for sharing the walk around I can only imagine how over whelming being there in person. : ) I hope you enjoyed yourself. Very nice orchids pick. Happy growing : ) Reah
What a beautiful show! All of the vandas are beautiful and I certainly agree that if I lived in FL they would be at my home! I also enjoyed seeing the plants that you added to your collection because they are unusual. I look forward to seeing how they do for you.
I would not have gotten past Francisco's booth! Right at the entrance you say? Thats me done!! One stop shop and I'm out 😅 i see sooooo many laelias that I dont have 🤪
Oh yes, he has tons or rupis! And other Cattleya types! Luckily, I've got so many at home right now it kind of took that whole group off my list to purchase. Saved some money 😂
Great video Stephen ....i need to go back again and watch those walkerianas and other interesting orchids .You covered so much and i got to see a whole lot. Thankyou
Love this video. Oooh, so you are a part of the team that awarded FCC to V. denisoniana ‘Crystelle’ - that’s a really nice one 👍 I just bought a C. iricolor from Ecuagenera. It’s coming next week. Fingers crossed 🤞 it smell good to my olfactory when it blooms. I will also check out Orchid Eros and Springwater Orchids to see if they ship online orders. Thanks for filming their booths 😄
I enjoy unboxing videos to see what someone is trying to add to their collection. I understand the restraint you must had not to get more orchids there. I went a week ago last Friday to a show in Chicago. I brought home a beautiful cattleya in spike and the buds are coloring up now. I can't wait to see the flowers and smell the fragrance.
You know, I probably should have bought that Cyrt. virescens from Peruflora but I had already spent so much ordering from Orquideas del Valle and the three flasks I ordered from Peruflora, you can only buy so much. I think you picked up some good plants there. And remarkable restraint to only pick up 4. Now the wife won't have to throw you out on the street for spending this month's house payment on orchids. 🤣

Miranda Orchids was a dream to check out. They had amazing species. Looking forward to meeting up next time. I almost went to the botanical garden the day after, but my mom wanted to go back to the orchid festival lol. Nice new additions!
Francisco is great! I’ll probably be visiting Brazil on one of his tours in September 2023. It’s too bad we couldn’t meet up! Maybe next time. The botanical garden was more amazing than I could have imagined. You’ll have to check it out!
@@SVKLOrchids that's awesome! Brazil is wonderful. I studied abroad in the state of Bahia and have fond memories of my time there. That's a wonderful trip to look forward to. For sure we will cross paths either at the next show. Have a great day!
I was at the festival too. Too bad I missed you. I love your videos, always very informative. Came from jersey, had an amazing time, but I wasn't as reserved as you with my purchases lol. Wish I had your restraint. Nice haul you have nonetheless. Good luck with your purchases!
I am amazed with the prices in the US, for example the $200 phal bellinas - same size, even better cost $25-$30 tops in the EU. I have one and it’s even blue variety
Thanks for taking us along. I still haven't been able to get to my first orchid show yet. What should someone look out for when they are buying recently imported plants?
It's very similar to buying domestic plants. Look for a vigorous plant with healthy new growth! Ideally, you are prepared to deal with the opposite seasonality of the plant you're purchasing.
The show was very interesting plants we don't see in NSW. Do you hold the watering on three bulb catasetums if they are young enjoy your videos Graeme Talbot
Yes, I still withhold water. This is especially true when the new roots form in the spring. A few drinks of water over winter for a young plant is ok; however, no water when the roots form!
I really enjoyed the festival and the haul. I wonder of noida weather id like Lisbon, Portugal weather. Why Masdevalia just could stand the heat ... Thanks again
Enjoyed your video Stephen. Looking forward to your showing these new plants in your collection. Wonder if you can recommend where to get the EcoWeb for PET method. I have some catasetums coming when Fred Clark is in Houston and want to set them up using your examples of PET. Hope you had a pleasant trip back to TX. Btw, you can grow Vandas in Texas…just sayin ;)
Ya, that’s just my excuse to not grow another genus that ruin my bank account! 🤣😂 I do want to try one under my oak trees here in Austin as a test subject. As for Ecoweb, I’m not sure anyone is selling it anymore. Rocks would be a good substitute.
Stephen any recommendations on replanting the catasetums when I get them on Thursday? Should I be concerned about their dormancy period or just get them repotted?
