Him and Tsunoda are in such a weird spot at RB, and the longer Checo stays the weirder it gets. I feel this is especially bad for Daniel due to his stock not rising so far with his comeback, just middling. The problem is the lack of seats at most teams for 2026 and beyond. I feel like there is characteristics that they don't like in either Tsunoda or Ricciardo and they obviously aren't seeing what they want in Lawson. I would imagine Lawson is done already, they would have given him more seat by now if they thought he was a better choice than Ricc/Tsunoda/Perez. My guess is they will probably keep Perez at RB, then likely drop Ricciardo, give the seat to Hadjar and then see how he competes against Yuki. I'm not sure why there is any confusion. I think it is pretty clear. Horner wants Max and Daniel at Red Bull, Yuki and Liam at RB. Hadjar comes in as reserve driver. That takes effect from whenever they manage to terminate Checo. In 2026, Yuki is no longer required because Honda is gone. Don't come at me Yuki fans, I'm not saying he isn't any good. But for reasons we the public may never know, Red Bull don't seem interested in him. If Max stays and if Daniel has a half decent 2025 they keep them both at Red Bull and bring Hadjar in beside Lawson at RB. If Max quits they will probably try to replace him with one of the McLaren drivers but that will only be possible if they are still a top team which may depend on how they go building their own power unit.
The only doubt is around the question of who gets to call the shots. If Marko is still living under the delusion that he is the one who chooses the drivers that might all change. But I suspect he doesn't really care anymore. He has given up on trying to find the next Max and is acting more like Max's manager these days.

Yes, he signed a new contract, but so did Sergio Perez and that didn't stop throngs saying Perez was going to be out. I think what Christian Horner is waiting to see if Yuki will lose his temper one more time. It came to this because of Yuki's uncontrolled anger at team orders earlier in the year where he drove dangerously after the race. That kind of behavior will take a while to live down before any team considers him for a seat (ref. KMag). I think one more uncontrolled anger situation will be all it takes, and Yuki will have made up Christian's mind for him. If that happens, I believe Red Bull release Yuki and bring in Liam Lawson.

Im not trying to say bad thing about DR. But what constitute a good driver? I though he should be able to adjust to any car given to him whether or not suit his preference. IMO, you cant value a driver highly if the team always has to provide a car to his liking. Not all upgrades can be predicted.
Max, Lando, Lewis have shown how they dont really affected by their car characteristics. Uncomfortable yes but not to the point til they race far behind their teammates

Fully agree. I really hate the “Daniel is a great driver given a car that suits him” remark. You can use that excuse for maybe a few races into a new team, but after that it just shows your lack of adaptability.
I also don’t agree with the narrative around how his past success in the Redbull somehow proves he will do well again now. There will be some similar characteristics but we are taking about 7 years ago… with now completely different regulations. I would put my bet on a faster and more adaptable driver than praying Daniel will somehow magically improve if he gets that seat.

Welcome to F1. In a team you have 2 drivers, number 1 and number 2. The number 1 basically calls the shots. Every driver has a certain style that they have to adjust their car to fit.
Now the problem. Lando, Max, Lewis are all number 1 drivers. All are in the car for many years and development goes by them. Not affected? did you not see few past races or Max?
their no. 2 drivers have to rely on the car as is and set it up by themselves to be better.
Daniel is know for his oversteering based car, just like Max. Yuki is on the other side, understeer. So obviously the Vcarb doesnt fit Daniel because its not made for his style. The redbull is. Change Maxs config to understeer and you will see him struggle as well.
Redbull saw Daniels results in his test. If he was bad, he wouldnt be near the team. They know better then we could ever.

Max and Lewis sure, but Lando is an unknown. He has driven the same car with the same basic characteristics until maybe sometime this year. But I would argue that they still have not banished the weird characteristics of that car. I would love to see how he would do in a pointy car.
Most drivers are great drivers in a car that "suits" them though. Max included, drivers of that caliber just have a much higher ceiling in a car that suits them and can make it dance. I think that we have witnessed this just recently as Max has made it very public that he does not enjoy driving the current car.
As far as a slow start to the year, LH has a "slow" start every year and then ramps up hard in the 2nd half. Not saying that he is LH, but I am saying that he is not the only one that takes some time to adjust to a car.

Max has been in RBR for nearly a decade, Lando has been with McLaren his whole F1 career (6 years?), and Lewis has been with Mercedes for well over a decade now. So not really a fair comparison.
Ricciardo has been in four teams in six years, and only really struggled with one of those cars (and got a huge payout to NOT drive it!).

    • @huh4206
      @huh4206 Месяц назад

that's an unfair comparison to make. Max has a car that is made for his driving. The only other car he drove was toro rosso. He isn't able to handle rb20's understeer currently. Similarly Lando has never driven a car that isn't Mclaren. You don't know if he adaptable unless he's in a completely different type of car. Daniel meanwhile could work with cars that has strong front end like Red Bull and Renault, but struggled with Mclaren that has a weak front & massive understeer (just havea look at how much hes strugglingto turn the car in his onboards). Even though it took a while, he still adjusted to Vcarb which is also leaning towards understeer. So you can say he has improved in adapting to different car styles. Max and Lando haven't had to try it since they have a car that's either made for them or works to their style.

Ahhh mate what's so hard to understand about the Checo decision. Redbull clearly don't want to have to pay him out by breaking his contract before the end of the season. It's simply a case of at what point in the constructors championship is it more expensive to drop and few places and get less money or pay him out. I am assuming there is a performance clause in his contract that will allow them to part ways at the end of the year. I would not be surprises to see him axed after this year is done......Ricciardo to the top team......and Lawson to RB

9:26 nah it was not really effective we have seen that sense Daniel left Red Bull for Renault. i dont agree with the "jr team" approach at all. i think Red Bull really need to make sure RB are NOT a jr team, cuz jr teams are just a competition blocker, to block other teams to enter F1 and produce more competition on the field.

RB could just find Ricarrdo a job as a mentor or driver coach - Daniel doesnt need to be a competitor to assist Yuki -- he would do a great job with Lawson as well. Giving young drivers a chance is the only way you know what their potential is. Lawson could be smashing it this year if he was given the chance he should have got.

Seems to me that Red Bull (ultimately being a marketing company) are treating F1 as 'racing as a means for marketing' rather than 'marketing to pay for racing'.
They can't bear to lose those sweet sponsorship dollars Checo brings in or the PR power of Danny Ric, so they're leaning on Max to do all the winning.
This is what I hate about modern F1.
