  • The trains now not only go past Concourse C, but also past the Terminal. Pretty cool being able to see into the space behind the Terminal and watch the tracks and stuff turn around.

      They may have been pulling the train out of service. Usually they don't bother you if you tell them you're just riding for the fun of it or that you didn't know the train ended there.

    Why did they originally have the train stop at just one of the platforms? To conserve energy/less wear and tear?

      vptes1 it was all about passenger efficiency. The trains would operate faster for Terminal passengers if it only stopped once and turned around at the same station. Now they need to operate more trains at once, so they have the train turn around past the Terminal so multiple trains can stop there at one time on both platforms.

      @@ElevatingDenver So it sounds like efficiency was always their goal, but they figured out that having the turn-around beyond the station can handle more trains and is thus more efficient?

      vptes1 a while back, the average traffic flow was low enough that only 4 trains were operating at one time. In order to handle increased traffic, the number was raised to 7 and now 8. In order to fit the 8th train, they needed more track space. Adding the turnaround after the Terminal allowed for the additional track space necessary for the 8th train.

    We have a similar system in Singapore but runs in a town rather than inside an airport

      America has them too. Especially in New York, which I think is the largest subway system in the world, actually

    What’s the penalty if you don’t exit the train when they say all passengers please exit

    • @ElevatingDenver
      @ElevatingDenver  4 года назад +4

      Nothing happens. The train just restarts it's cycle most of the time. If they're pulling the trains from service, the staff will check the trains to make sure no one stays on.
