  • The Balule Nature Reserve’s Black Mamba Anti-Poaching (www.blackmambas.org/) Unit is the first of its kind: The majority of the team members are women. The main objective of the Black Mamba APU, founded in 2013 by Transfrontier Africa, is the protection of wildlife, but the team also to educates the youth of the communities that live on the boundaries of the Balule region. Currently, there are 26 Black Mambas that operate within Balule Nature Reserve and its surrounding areas, along with 23 armed guards. Poaching and snaring has decreased significantly since their deployment in this area. However, they believe that the war on poaching will not be won with guns and bullets, but through the local communities and education. This short documentary by Black Bean Productions was made possible in part by Empowers Africa and Rhinos in Africa, which you can follow on Facebook.

    These anti-feminist comments are fucking rotten. Prayers and admiration to the young women fighting to protect the environment. They are very brave.

      It depends what you're talking about. If it's anything like Dreadios' comment then I agree but I wholeheartedly agree with that other comment talking about how these women are doing much better than the American feminists who just make up problems to complain about.

    Why aren't they armed for protection against animals and poachers? It would be terrible if anything bad happened to one of these girls because they could not defend themselves while patrolling the bush.

    • @user-sb5sl8zn4q
      @user-sb5sl8zn4q 7 лет назад +4

      i think they are armed but maybe they asked them to just were their usual uniforms when they were filming this video so it can be content friendly?

      @ 2:22 the gal says "usually we are not using weapons, we are eyes and ears of the reserves. If they report armed poachers and call in for back up but back up does not arrive in time I would hate to hear what angry poachers might try to do to these unarmed gals in retaliation.

    The Mambas. I watched a Irwin's episode where Bindi went with them. Crocodile Hunter voiced why we need the mambas. Ever year poachers enter the park looking for rhinos and elephants and when they find one they shoot it and the ivory lands on the black market. It takes 18 months for an elephant or rhino to get pregnant and they can't reproduce fast enough because the poachers keep taking them out. That's why we need the Mambas they are there to stop the poachers so we can save this wildlife.

      It's not feminists who were against the draft, it was conservatives who didn't want their precious princesses getting drafted.

      @A Rabbit The second wave feminists didn't but the third wave certainly are. Another funny thing I've noticed is that it used to be conservatives who wanted censorship but now "liberals" want it. It's strange how the new left isn't that much different than the old right.

    Poachers are so despicable, so trash humans, barely humans, cruel and only driven by money! Poachers have completely lot values. Mambas be careful and take a good care of yourselves against those poachers monsters!

    I think this is awesome and I love that they're being empowered, but they should be armed! Like come on, the poachers are going to be armed. What are the Black Mambas going to do when they come face to face with one....flash their flashlight?
