    Even with the limitations. Sculpted hands and permanent bent legs. This looks amazing. The change to specific ankle pegs (rather then generic round pegs) goes so far.

      @Josean Cedillo I mean wings on a fig like that is gonna def pump up the price especially the size of the figure. Two wings out arms is gonna easily add 20 bucks to the price tag. I’m ok with a rerelease being different different price

  • @deathfox1193
    @deathfox1193 2 года назад +11

    I like how the wings connect to the fists. Since the bones in the bat wings are elongated fingers, and the wings are just elongated skin webbing, it’d make sense for his wings to extend from the hand. Also while it’d be nice to expand the wings, it probably makes sense that he can’t fly given his musculature and human proportions. My ONLY complaint is the lack of an ability for him to look up

    • @beej5
      @beej5 2 года назад +3

      I can confirm that Man-Bat 100% definitely is able to fly. 😆 😂

    • @deathfox1193
      @deathfox1193 2 года назад

      @@beej5 in the comics? Yes. But in reality, a Man-bat with these proportions, at most, would be able to glide. That may be a stretch too. Still, I love the idea of this big bat creature with giant useless wings 🤣

    • @beej5
      @beej5 2 года назад +1

      @@deathfox1193 why are you using real world physics and information for fictional characters 😆 I know you didn’t say anything about Clayface not being able to walk with gelatin legs 😛. Also, I think with how muscular his upper body is coupled with the large the wings he would definitely be able to fly. All he has to do is carry around some 10lb legs 😂

    This Man-Bat looks great, I don’t know why these guys are complaining about repaints, he hasn’t made a gold label for most of his figures, I think Marvel Legends has them traumatized lmao this figure looks great! 🦇

    • @tacticalcrusader3709
      @tacticalcrusader3709 2 года назад +2

      Marvel Legends doesn't do chase figures anymore only McFarlane DC Multiverse does.

    • @firstnamenlastname
      @firstnamenlastname 2 года назад +7

      @@tacticalcrusader3709 really? I’m talking repaints and reissues, especially for comic versions, legends ONLY does repaints for their maybe 4 body sculpts. The gold label has only been made for a handful of figures, with McFarlane you get original sculpts (gold label aren’t technically new figs because they’re the same character but with better paint apps) and you get them for $19.99. Marvel Legends keeps hiking the prices and still does repaints of their body sculpts especially for their comics figs. Let’s not forget the new $80 Venom two pack lmao

    • @firstnamenlastname
      @firstnamenlastname 2 года назад +6

      I know the bigger figures are $40 but they are released separately instead of packs or as BAFs which usually have figs that don’t make sense. McFarlane’s Lobo and Shao Kahn are about as big as any Legends Thanos but instead where $19.99 and the metallic paint McFarlane uses actually looks like metal unlike the marbled “premium” plastic legends uses.

    • @brycebitetti1402
      @brycebitetti1402 2 года назад +1

      @@firstnamenlastname The big issue with McFarlane is that the figs don't come with shit. You get one accessory if you're lucky. Plus there's just shit like all of the bad character picks, weird proportions, bad QC, etc. He definitely does some things well, but I just can't say I like his figures at all.

    • @firstnamenlastname
      @firstnamenlastname 2 года назад +1

      @@brycebitetti1402 that can’t be put all on him. For Multiverse, WB has a lot of say on character selection/proportions and they put the accessories restrictions on the figs but he has come out with a decent accessories pack for $15 that is compatible for all 7 inch figures. He has put in some solid/relevant accessories with every figure considering the restrictions and the paint details/materials are really good and no marbling and original sculpts (unless it’s the handful of gold label deluxe figs). I mean how many Wolverines and Iron Men have we gotten from Marvel Legends where the difference between them is probably 1 piece or two or coloring? I don’t collect all his Batman figs, just the ones I select, his number Batman/ Superman figs don’t bother me since I just got the two or three I wanted of them, maybe I’ll get others as they come out I don’t know but I’m not completing wave after wave of anything.
      A McFarlane figure I like is Lobo for example, his biker vest is sculpted, great details and has a painted emblem/colors on the back for the critics. That’s the first time for Lobo figs that he actually gets an emblem/patch on the back. His Lex Luthor came with an actual throne for $19.99, that’s a real accessory, I don’t consider an extra pair of slightly less open hands an accessory, remember back when toys came with other toys as their accessories? Everybody is sucking at that now, except for NECA sometimes.
      On Lobo again, the fig looks and feels solid and has a wash effect on his hair, big hands for any accessories you want or even to drag another figure or something. Dude is about the size of the Legends’ Thanos figs but costs $19.99. For Mortal Kombat and Dune, his figures have been great, Shao Kahn and Kotal Kahn have really great metallic paint, it’s actual paint not shiny marbled plastic. For most his figs you just have to actually handle them to get the joints to work properly, which I do anyways because they’re action figures. Warming them up in water isn’t always necessary but does help just like with NECA or Diamond Select figs. Warming them up like that usually does loosen up the butterfly joints in his figures but that’s not too big a deal for me.
      The two figures I’ve had to return recently are actually my Marvel Legends Surtur and Wong, Surtur’s ankles were so loose he couldn’t stand and Wong’s pinless elbow was melted and just gummed off. I got more afterwards because I needed those two in the collection and at least the Surtur I have now can stand but my Wong still has like a gummy feel to his right arm. I want to at least feel like I’m getting a bang for my buck and it’s sad more collectors don’t feel the same. His Swamp Thing, Clayface and Man-Bat are selling for $41 each, Surtur was $51 and the smaller 20th anniversary Hulk was $45. I’m not interested in upcoming Marvel Legends since they keep hiking the prices ($81 for a venom 2 pack, come on) and I’m not digging the new stuff either especially since we keep getting less for more and being told it’s “premium”. It would suck to just now be getting into marvel or anything Disney under hasbro, but DC multiverse, Mortal Kombat, Spawn & also Mattel’s Masters of the Universe & Jurassic lines are still going strong (for now at least). I don’t take them for granted.

    I feel like they could have engineered this figure with more hollowed out parts for the upper body. I've seen older Marvel figures with hollow torsos. That way they could have had just as much size but less density. That should have helped with the weight distribution and stability I think

    I treat the ankles of every McFarlane DC figure with KiKi liquid. It goes a long way to helping with those ball joint ankles. I learned the method by doing battle with the same ball joints in the DC Essentials line.
    I had passed on Clayface for space reasons, and Titan Joker for aesthetic. I've been waiting on a close look in review form to decide on Man-Bat. I think I'm in. I still may unbox my Arkham Knight Man-Bat, but who knows? He does look cool in the box!

    I intend to do the same thing to my Man-Bat that I did to the Titan Joker - tighten the ankle joints. I have a bottle of "Kiki Fix Loose Joints" which I am pretty sure is just a glossy floor varnish that has been a staple for years for fixing joints (but I wanted to try it and find out).
    My Titan Joker had super loose ankle joints, and was a pain to pose and even just stand. So far I have done 2 applications of Kiki to them, and now they're pretty good! It obviously doesn't fix the top-heavy-ness of the figures, but it does help a lot having that joint be stable.
    I will likely do a 3rd application later to see if it can get even tighter.

    3:59 I could've sworn we were getting rubbery wings that you could pose in flight mode or relaxed. Guess that's just what I assumed since you'd expect that with no articulated segments/interchangeable wings - like Mattel's Multiverse or DC Collectibles BTAS.
    Oh man, and only getting fists. They should've been dynamic grasping hands. I have no recollection of Man-Bat flying around making fists like Superman, then getting into a lot of bar room brawls.
    Hope Todd's gonna sell us a 'complete your Clayface & Man-Bat figures' set. We seriously need grasping handed splayed out winged arms and some Clayface constructs.

    • @ComicCrossing

      Its not a flying Man Bat. Its that simple. Extra flight hands are pretty pointless and would mess up the entire arm sculpt with what they were going for. There isnt really a properly good way to do a Man Bat that can have a "flying mode" and one that can stand on a shelf.

    He's not holding his wings.
    A bat's wing bones ARE his finger bones.
    They essentially have ULTRA LONG webbed fingers.
    So, making a "fist" is how a bat closes its wings.
    Same deal with a pterodactyl, sort of, except that bats use all their fingers as "framing" for their wings, while a pterodactyl uses just a single gigantic pinky finger, while the rest of their fingers remain a little clawed hand on the middle of the wing.

    I honestly think this man bat is way too big. I think he would look better at the 8 inch mark

    It's a cool looking figure, but not really an interpretation of Man-Bat I'm a fan of. Just way too big. Now if McFarlane would do a Goliath (Robin's Man-Bat-esque...pet?...from a few years back) that would be fantastic.
    Great review, and thank you for providing so many size comparison's with other lines. Too many reviewers just stand their fig next to a couple other figs from the same line and call it a day. Good stuff, Robo!

    When they first showed this figure off, I wanted it. I'm not so sure now.

    I think the 'floppy' is just McFarlane skimping on QC. Great review though! :)

    The wings should have been a separate piece.

    I don't know why they did the lower half like that. It looks like he's wearing daisy dukes over a pair of jeans and now you can never unsee it. Your welcome.

    Does anyone know if this figure can be posed on all fours?
    And if so, does it look good?

    Interesting. I have this on pre-order, and based on this review, I might cancel it. Those skinny ankles would piss me off, too. I had a Spider Man ICONS figure from way back that had the same problem, and it was annoying as hell. And I think you're right about not being able to fully spread the wings out, or getting swappable wing parts for it. Mmm yeah, this might actually be a pass.

    Saw this at my local comic shop, was actually excited for this guy but the face on it made me change my mind, the mouth area looked terrible, paint Job on the face was pretty bad, rest of the figure looks cool but the head sculpt just ruined it for me
