Magic for Dummies. Three stand outs:
    1) The Shuffling Lesson (p 207) . I did this trick at work for "Magic Friday" (thank you Jamie Grant!) way back and it went over big! Also satisfies Eugene Burger's premise of making the spectator the star. When Penguin magic toured Austin several years back Chad Long was there and taught this trick there as well.
    2) The Anti Gravity Ring (p 76) . Been in magic since I was 8 years old and have never seen this trick. Best rubber band sleeper trick. Easy to do. Doesn't conflict with other items in a rubber band set. Completely mystifying to the spectator. I love this trick!
    3) The Triple-Prediction Spouse-Clincher (p 258). Have never done this trick but on my list to learn. Love how well the one-ahead is disguised in this trick!

Nice video as allways. But in further video's could you plz turn the background sound way down (does it really need it at all)? It was really distracting to me and far to loud. Otherwise love the video as usual.

I don’t hear the background sounds and music any louder. I love the sound effects and music. If you watch on a phone I can’t imagine that the sound varies that much. On most TV’s today you can setup the tv for night time tv and it will keep all the sounds level so they don’t blare the commercials and wake you up if you fall asleep. That will achieve what you are needing. Hope this helps.

What? I didn’t see this yesterday? I am so thrilled. I was having withdrawals.
It’s always great to know about cheaper magic books. I try to collect cheaper books to give away to new magic friends. My favorite giveaway books are anything by Bill Tarr. My favorite is, “Now you see it, Now you don’t”.
Great list of books. Several of these books can be bought cheaper used. Have you noticed that the average $100 book a couple years ago are selling for less? I spent $100 or more for at least half of my Frank Garcia books. Now they are selling for about $60. I think it shows that there is a small finite amount of people that are willing to pay for these books and younger people are not buying books like we do.
I have mentioned this a few years ago, we are losing generations of people that love books. My hope is that the newer generations will learn to fall in love with them.

      Hi Scott,
New magic books are definitely more expensive in general. I don't mind paying for them if they are by authors I know and like. I don't pay a lot of attention to resale prices, although I occasionally come across volumes that have increased in price.

Magic Digest by George B Anderson. Out of print but available at Don’s magic and Books for the low low price of seven dollars. Very well written book!

I have a funny history with Magic Digest. I got it probably 40 years ago, skimmed through it and decided I didn't like it. But for some reason I kept going back to it. Maybe it was the sidebar stories of famous magicians, but eventually I started to re-look at some of the material. The was a sponge routine, an Endless Chain routine, reprints from old Tannens and Magic Inc catalogues etc. It was a much better book than I first thought and also one that kept rekindling my interest in magic (as a non performer) I like it now.

The print editions are no longer available, but Jeremiah Zuo's coin and card books are available as ebooks on Penguin for $20 and $25, respectively. While I've never read the coin book, I've only seen good reviews and the videos of him performing the material are great. I have his card book and like it a lot. It's quirky, and not exactly easy, so it won't appeal to everybody, but I have been enjoying working on Those Are the Aces from it.

I would say adding Expert Card Techniques, Card Control by Buckley would also be good choices for anyone wanting to pursue more card sleights. But do think and agree that Royal Road is gonna be a better choice out of the three because how beginner and experienced friendly it is.
I remember in high school I did Design for Laughter for my whole class and it absolutely killed.
That effect is so easy but so good, it's definitely worth the price of the whole book. On top of that there's so much more to it than that one trick, it's insane.
Self working Mental Magic by Karl Fulves and Practical Mental Magical by Annemanm are my most recommended for the mentalism route.
I recommend for anyone wanting to do mem/ stack deck work, but on a budget because a lot of great mem deck books are at least $60,(which is still worth it, but hey, I know what it's like to not have that be disposable), going with My Personal Stack by DaOrtiz.
It's a PDF, but it's only $10, it's a steal at that price and you get so much from it.

Magic For Dummies is the book for me. Have a niece or nephew and you need a trick to entertain them? Pencil and quarter double vanish page 37. Need a trick to teach your nibling? Triple rubber band escape page 70. Want a card trick to keep in your metaphorical back pocket? Soul Mates, page 200 Want even more card tricks to keep in your back pocket? Chapter 11 starts on 223 and teaches forces and revelations. Need an effect for stage for your talent show? Walking through ropes, page 88. Need a weird, funny effect for your parlor talent show? The unforgettable cloudy toilet paper trick on page 116. Need a funny, weird effect for your parlor talent show? Give that purse a hand, page 94. Something interesting to show friends or clients at a coffee shop or restaurant? Evaporating sugar, 146.
When teaching the effects, the book highlights the hard parts which require additional practice, what moments require acting, subtle touches, and general performance tips. The effects are presented with a decent script. Side note: If you hate the script, ask yourself what you hate and change the script from there to something you do like. The effects do not require a trip to your local magic shop. You'll be able to get everything from a general store. The effects were selected from a pantheon of magicians like Gregory Wilson, Michael Ammar, Jade, Chad Long, Eugene Burger, and a myriad of others. Magic For Dummies also presents what to say when you mess up a trick, lines for hecklers, responses for, "How'd you do that?", interesting stories from professional magicians, and interesting moments in magic history. It hits the FAQ and common sidebar topics.
