Rebecca Kilgore is a dream of a vocalist! She makes it all look and sound easy, and that's the most difficult effect to create, because it's never easy to achieve such mastery. In the tradition of the great Maxine Sullivan and the peerless Peggy Lee, (two of the singers whose artistry I most revere), Rebecca interprets the Great American Songbook with exquisite phrasing, unerring taste, and rare subtlety. Ms. Kilgore is one of the finest mainstream jazz singers alive today. Higher praise I can not give.
I wholeheartly agree with everything you said! Rebecca Kilgore is such a great singer, so smooth and effortless. Peggy Lee is my idol since childhood, it was love at first note. There is no other singer who had so much sensuality in her voice and her interpretations are like a lesson in acting, because she had the ability to make you believe in every word she sang. I have no words that can praise her enough! The greatest and most versatile female singer of her generation, she should be regarded in the same way as Frank Sinatra is.
I've been a Rebecca Kilgore fan for many years. I had the great pleasure of hearing her perform with Dave Frishberg in a very small acoustic setting, many years ago. She is just fantastic.
Rebecca, you have such an amazing voice. It reminds me of one of my favourite female singers Doris Day. Your stage presence is bang on and you always have a great band backing you. This is what I call entertainment. Everybody in the band seems to be having a fun time and the chemistry spills out to the audience. Keep up the good work and keep posting those wonderful videos.
Why is it that the lyric writer is so often left out on these occasions ?. "You're My Everything"' is a 1931 song with lyrics by Mort Dixon ......Ms. Kilgore sings it precisely as it should be sung. Nice stuff!
