How this show aired for four seasons and I’ve never seen a frame of it is inconceivable…

I watched this show every day. Back then tv would play the National anthem and shut down. And come back around 4:30am or 5am. Depending on the channel.
In my city this aired on Sunday mornings. But I did forget about this show until the DVDs were released in the 2000s.
I'm literally looked this up because I was like ain't no way there is a 100 episode superman show no one talks about lol
The real "SMALLVILLE", for me.
I remember watching this show every Saturday night on fox at 6:00 at least in Florida that was the station that played it in it's original run plus it was filmed in my home town of Orlando memories.
I really enjoyed this series as a kid brings back good memories thanks for the upload

I remember watching this as a kid but never caught the Miami Vice Feel to the first intro till now lol.
After the show ended in 1992, re-runs of the Superboy series were NOT aired neither throughout the rest of the 1990s due to a copyright issue between Warner Bros. and the Salkinds. Notice that this series didn’t even get a VHS release like many other shows did at that time. To my understanding I have heard that by early 2002-03 Superboy was broadcasted on cable systems in the UK. The rights issues were finally resolved later on and the series was officially released on DVD in 2006-07.
I was surprised the Syfy channel never showed reruns of it
They reran once thru our local Fox affiliate channel 32 in Chicago after its first run. Then it disappeared thereafter.

Loved this show as a kid, Now looking back at it as an adult, I wonder what the hell was I thinking? These people couldn't act to save their lives.

As a hardcore comics fan kid in the 80s I loved this show. Yes the acting was corny and the effects too but to be honest if this was to rerun on tv if sit and happily watch it again.
The opening at 2:01 is the best one.

O.K. at least John Haymes Newton and Gerald Christopher wore the suit, unlike a certain guy named Tom who barely wore a t-shirt and not too sure he actually wore the cape, might have been CGI in the very final episode of a ten year show.
@Dan S Salty much? Both shows are good for what they are. No need to insult the guy for giving his opinion. I liked Smallville in the later seasons, especially Season 9 (which to me was the best of the later seasons) when Clark wore the all black trench coat and black T shirt with a silver S shield on it. That outfit was pretty cool versus the one he barely wore in Season Ten before getting the Superman suit finally.
Jimmy Gay But that‘s the point... Smallville was never and never has intented to make Clark Superman.. It was a show about Clark.. That season 1 intro had a huuuuuuuuuuuge effect on me as a kid. It's so simple and relatable to a kid. He's just flying around, checking out some bridge. He's not fighting anyone and no one's in trouble, we're not introducing characters or dwelling on plot. the dude can FLY. Might as well fly around and check some stuff out!

How is it possible that this show lasted 4 seasons and was popular in its time but today nobody remembers it :/
I think its because it became forgotten after it was canceled because of the lawsuit filed by WB after that the show wasn't rerun because of that I feel it got forgotten.
It was due mainly to how WB filed the lien against the show ever airing in reruns once it finished it's 4 season run that made it near impossible to remember if you hadn't watched it when it originally aired. Hell, it wasn't until 2006 when Superman Returns came out that the show finally was available to watch again (at least the first season at the time). The later seasons did eventually come out via Amazon's On Demand service finally later too.
Warner Bros was already well into the planning stages of what would become LOIS AND CLARK and didn't want their new series to have to compete with another Superman series, so they slapped the Salkinds with a "cease and desist" order effectively killing Superboy and cancelling the Salkinds plans to spin the tv show off into a series of Superman TV Movies. As to why the series never aired in reruns it did for a time in England and Europe but never in the US. Apparently there were distribution rights issues between the Salkinds, Warner Bros, and Viacom that prevented the series from ever airing in syndication after it's initial run.

It was pretty good, to be honest. I've met Gerard Christopher recently. He is a cool guy.
I don't care what any idiot says. This was a damn good and fun show to watch. And Lois and Clark coming in one year later can be seen as a great follow up.

Omg this was my favorite as a kid, & I had a huge crush on John Haymes Newton (the better of the 2!). It came on Saturday evenings, followed by My Secret Identity, another show I adored
Newton was a better Clark and just looked better as Superboy versus Gerard IMO. I can't be the only one that hated Gerards uber nerd take on Clark as well as his lisp when talking as Superboy.

The only thing that hurt the series, was Ian Mitchell Smith's character, in Season 2. He was that typical and annoying "friend", that tried get rich quick schemes. Other than he, Season 2 was good.
Introduced traditional villains, as Metallo and Bizarro.
TJ, the photographer was a much better sidekick for Clark. Buy season three I guess the producers realize they didn’t need the third friend in the Clark Lana team. I guess they were trying to parallel, Lois, Clark and Jimmy Olsen
Something I never thought about was that only a year after Superboy ended Stacy Haiduk starred in Seaquest which aired opposite Lois and Clark. Initially seaQuest got higher ratings because it was running on the Star Trek bandwagon But as the year ended viewers began to see Lois and Clark was a much better show. The first season of seaquest was so bad Stacy and Stacy and severs other cast members were not invited back for season two Which ironically was even worse. It seemed the show finally was getting act together by season three but by then it was too late and viewers didn’t wanna give it a chance

In 1988 (one year after the present Sunshine Skyway Bridge opened to traffic), the views of both the Old Sunshine Skyway and the New Sunshine Skyway were seen in the Season 1 intro of the Superboy Television series (which is based on DC Comics character Superman {in his preteen and teenage years as Superboy}). This started and finished before the demolition of Old Sunshine Skyway in 1993 as the Superboy TV series ended its run about one year before the bridge demolition in 1992.
The second intro in this video (the one that starts at 0:40) was the best -- both visually and in regards to the music arrangement.

Im not sure if this is the Superman Im thinking about, but when I was a kid I remember watching a young superman in TV, back in 1995, I remember talking with my classmates the next day about the last night episodes, but im not sure if is this one, maybe it can be... the only thing im sure about is that it wasnt Smallville...
3:21, 4:07, 4:54 - The title was renamed "THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERBOY" for seasons 3 and 4.
I remember watching this when I was a kid. As far as I can recall, it used to come on every Saturday evenings at 6:30 PM here in Detroit right after the television sitcom version of Harry and the Hendersons. John Newton played Superboy in I believe the first two seasons, and Girard Christopher played Superboy in the last two seasons.

Trivia Facts : Superboy and Lois And Clark : The New Adventures of Superman was supposed to be a spin off..bridged connection..basically where superboy becomes a Superman..in addition Gerard Christopher(season 2-4)..was cast as Superman for the series however when the producers recognized/realized he had played the character before they replaced him with Dean Cain..

He wanted a raise. But rather than give him a raise they replaced him. It’s all about money sometimes.
Both this along with "Lois & Clark" are zillion times better than the current CW shows!

The producers of that show wanted no one affiliated with Superboy. Gerald Christopher was a finalist for the role of Clark but when they found out he played super boy he wasn’t eligible
