Actually, you can blame the Fed for manipulating the market by keeping interest rates artificially low for the last decade. They created this mess and now there's no way to fix it without completely crashing the market. And I'm OK with that.

In CA, I'm sure the lack of supply to meet demand, rising construction costs, extremely long process to approve housing projects, and high property taxes are just a few things causing high housing prices in the state. It's bias to just use real estate investors as the scapegoat to "a major reason why the real estate market is the way that it is now".
The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment

Investing is so much easier and less expensive than it used to be. There are financial institutions with apps out there that allow investing in fractional shares of major stocks with just a few dollars so there’s really not much of an excuse to not be able to save/invest. Years ago I worked 3rd shift. A syndicated show on money and investing was on overnight. The host drove so many principles home that stuck. One was that if you could not afford a car in 36 months, you could not afford the car. Consumer debt is so hard to overcome. I realized that every time I make a payment, I am making someone else rich and losing the ability to invest in myself.
The last point was the most important. They blame everything on everyone else and never take responsibility. If you do that, you never improve yourself because you think there is nothing to improve.

If people stop eating outside and enjoying anything to save money for the unpredictable market especially for now, life will become miserable. I know saving money would be good, but stop drinking a coffee or eating a good meal would not be a good way. People should not sacrifice their life so much for an unknown market return.
