In a podcast style discussion on the question: Is Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition any good? We have played D&D 5E since it came out and here are our thoughts.
I'm not yet 30 years old, but I grew up with my dad's AD&D 1e books, later started using my brother's 2e books, bought my own 3.5e books, and now own all the core 5e stuff. Having experienced to some extent most of the edition history of the game, I think accessibility / ease of play has never been better (in most cases - there are some major blindspots in the 5e rules). That said, the game has also never felt more like an introductory product. My preference now is for Lamentations of the Flame Princess and 2e, but I do love what 5e has done for TTRPG as a whole, and I'll gladly play it with tables who prefer it.
