A definite audible difference immediately and much improved with bone. I use bone pins on all my instruments that use them, and for a very small financial investment you get a big gain. Thanks very much for another great video.
Thanks for the A/B comparison, guys! It's good to hear the pins actually make a difference. The bone ones seem to retain more treble and clarity IMO, but I'm not sure if I like it in this guitar actually. Maybe my ears just have cheap tastes 😂 Would be nice to hear some wooden pins, too...
So I just swapped out the plastic pins in my Guild D-20 for bone. Even though they boost the mids, the Bone pins dull down the trebles significantly (not in a good way) since my acoustic already sounds warm & deep. Now it sounds TOO warm/dark. I think I'm gonna put the plastics back in to get the clarity back. (Never thought I'd prefer plastic over bone tone) 😂 I'd still like to try Ebony or Tusq pins next to experiment.
as far as i know, there's no standard size for pins and they are meant to be sanded if they don't fit, is that correct? also i'd like to see how ebony and bronze pins compare to the others
@@HarleyBentonOfficial Just a question, when playing street music at Christmas in Germany i try to giveaway a Guitar every year to encourage new players. This year I have to invest in some music equipment for a gig at a prestigious Berlin Concert Hall in January. 5th. 2024. So it means I don't have enough spare money to buy a giveaway guitar. If there is any way you could donate one to me that would be a great gesture. I an a Les Paul fan so something in this shape would be best but it doesn't matter so much. I would make a video of the giveaway too. Cheers Phil
No need for headphones to hear that! Huge and surprising difference in tone, easily apparent even on my phone speaker. I hate that bone sounded so good as i'm vegan :(
That's what its all about! Everyone describes tone different, so the question is, can you hear the difference if the answer is yes. Did you like the difference? If the answer is also yes, give them a shot!

The warmth of the bone pins is beautiful. I always Chang’s plastic pins to wooden ones either ebony or mahogany depending on the guitar
Nice little demo, can hear more clarity, volume & brightness for sure. Plastic pins have a dulling effect.

Def hear more mids!
NICE playing Bene!

I have changed plastic pins for metal ones and I can definitely hear a change in tone.
i think the metal pins deafen the vibration of the top of the wood. theoretically its brighter

Video incoming :) Yes you can sand them to the correct size if they should not fit.
Bone pins clearly make a difference in the mid-to-upper range.
More definition, more clarity, much better response.
More lower end in the bone, .more pleasant too. Nice video :)
Thanks! Glad you dig it!

Well just don't eat them
@@pmckeown22 more than just a diet i'm afraid!
I think the bone gives more clarity to the tone/sound
It was also a tad louder in the room.
Tusq? Graftech makes beautiful TUSQ pins that add a little something to your tone.
Im pretty sure its robot elephant bones😮

plastic and bone cost very different and plastic are on our sold guitars for a reason...they are a lot cheper to get!
With the bone pins there was more clarity and more open and not as muffled as the plastic ones.
Absolutely! Its quite exciting to see how they alter the tone!
The plastic pins sound more crisp and sharp. The bone was a little warmer. Just what my ears heard…
