There is a lot of respect for these beautiful creatures. Plus I think the older stingrays in Warrnambool recognise me. One example from this year: I was close to a large stingray who was in a defensive position (tail up at the ready), then when it looked at me it’s tail lowered - as if to say “I know you”.
