Have these in my Epiphone LP custom which is my cheapest guitar and it has a sound that competes with my Gibson LP standard. Absolutely love them, especially in a boosted high gain setting.
I have these in an old Harmony les paul style guitar. How they react from changing from the neck to the bridge on a lead is awesome. Love them, very versatile. ✌&💚
Awesome playing and tone! Looking at PUPs for my Revstar 320 which are ceramic in a Nato body, they're a little hard edged for some stuff but I do like them.
Maybe the bridge in the neck, low height. Something tight, high gain in the bridge. Or... even for a middle PU. Not bad, but has twice the the treble of a Gibson 57 or a SD Seth Lover or Alnico II
The Emerald bridge is brighter in the highs, with a less prominent midrange when compared to the Black Dog. In the neck position, the Emerald uses a less powerful alnico IV magnet, which gives it a slightly softer attack and sweeter highs, while the Black Dog is a bit more upfront and punchy, with its stronger alnico V
It sounds a harsh PAF on bridge. Not bad, but I would use it only on a dark full bodied SG, or even on a strat, paried with singles. Not a good idea for a balanced LP, maybe for ebony figerboard ones.
We love the Black Dog for a Strat! The midrange is accentuated and the highs are not too bright, providing a nice balance that will still punch through a mix.

Does he have his neck pick up backwards? Screw side should be out, but he has the slug side out
Screw side out is certainly the standard way to fit them, but rotating it yields some subtle tonal changes, so it is absolutely fine to experiment!

These sound amazing, I wonder how they’d do in a strat that’s pretty bright (alder, maple neck).
