As a relatively new subscriber to yourself and Simon, I'm very excited to get involved with the prompts this year!!!
    Prompt suggestion
    1) read a book that experiments with form (epistolary novel, written in verse, multiple timelines or perspectives, uses footnotes etc.)
    2) read a book in translation

I am hoping to get through my 13th and final book for the 2024 prompts before the end of the year. I can’t say that I loved all of the books I read but I had so much fun picking them and it’s always great to read from my ever-growing TBR piles. Here are some prompt suggestions: 1) a book that was shortlisted for your favorite book prize and 2) a book that has been adapted into a feature film or TV series. Happy Christmas!

A couple of ideas for 2025 prompts: a novel set in a school community; a novel with a castle on the cover; a novel by a writer who also publishes poetry; a novel with a monochrome cover; a satirical novel… Look forward to seeing what you pick out for 2025 and maybe reading along a little too. Happy Holidays 😊

Oooo I love the prompts video! I managed to complete 60% of them.. studying got in the way. 2 of them were recommendations from your videos "The Rain Heron" and "The Gallows Pole" and I loved both of them. And 2 other prompts I read will be in my top 10... really looking forward to seeing the 2025 suggestions.
    My ideas will be
    1. book where an animal plays a main character....
    2. Read a family member or friends favourite book / recommendation
    3. Spin a globe and wherever your finger lands read a book from that country. I guess not everyone has a globe, so they can use a random name generator for this.

Happy to hear you’ve enjoyed the prompts this year, Louise! 🌸 I read some great ones too and a few I probably wouldn’t have been prioritising - On the red hill for example which I’m so glad to have read. But yes, the first name prompt was a difficult one for me and I was also “full” from the retellings to be honest, but it all worked out. And I read Mr. Loverman for the honorific prompt so that was an easy choice for me 😁
My only change for myself for next year - which I’m so excited for - is to be more lenient about the order in which I read them. Bc I’ve had a few where I thought they would fit a different month bc of my mood or sth, but one a month is still my plan though 😁
-My two 2025 prompt suggestions: 1) a book set on an island or 2) a book with a one word title

Prompt suggestions: a book whose title features the name of a city/ town/ village, a book with a forest/rainforest animal on the cover.
A video idea could be to see what books you have read or want to read that match the prompt (so basically a recommendations video for each prompt).
I wasn't really successful with any of my bookish challenges this year, but I want to try again next year, because I love looking for the right books on my shelves.

Merry Christmas, Louise! I came across your channel early on this year and it has fast become my favourite. I didn't read to the prompts, but found I covered all of them, except for the volcano, some several times over, just not in the given month. I might try next year, though.

I struggled with the name prompt because although my name is common I could only find Romance or grisly murder, neither of which are my thing. It’s also hard to search by author first name. Prompt suggestion:
A book with a 2 or 5 word title. So not the word two or five, but a book title made up of 2 or 5 words (for 2025 obviously). And of course the word 'the' in the title counts as one of the words.
I loved the 2 or 4 in the title, so I would suggest to keep that as a bonus prompt for every year you will be doing this.

    Hi Louise,
I couldn't fulfill the prompt to read a book with an author who has the same first name. The closest I came to was Roy Miki (People call me Miki for short). No worries though since I LOVE Roy Miki's writing :)
    Ideas for prompts:
    1. A book with a female protagonist over the age of 65
    2. A story told in vignettes ("Tell Them of Battles, Kings, and Elephants" by Mathias Enard is one of my favourites) or a novella-in-flash (I love Diane Simmons' "An Inheritance")

Hi, Louise, although my post has nothing to do with your video, I simply wanted to use the occasion to thank you SO VERY MUCH for introducing Marghanita Laski to me. You had recommended "The Victorian Chaise Longue" which was eery and resonated for a long time in me. I have since read "Little Boy lost" by her and exceot for the last 2 sentences, it it is just as good, if not better in terms of character study!

I managed to read something for all prompts this year (assuming a DNF'ed book counts...).
Book with snake: Ninth House - Leigh Bardugo (DNF)
    Retelling: Thornedge - T. Kingfisher
Book longlisted/shortlisted: Piranesi - Suzanna Clarke
BookTuber's favorite: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow - Gabrielle Zevin
Author with same first name: Perfect Little Monsters - Cindy R.X. He
Animal/Vegetal/Mineral: The Measure - Nikki Erlick (flower bouquet)
Backlist from favorite author: Us Against You - Fredrik Backman
Honorific Title: The Last Mrs. Parrish - Liv Constantine
Volcano: Raviver les volcans - Véronick Talbot
Book set in a city you've lived in: À l'ombre de la Sainte Mafia - Claire Bergeron
New author (to you): Seven Days in June - Tia Williams
Connection to your personal history: Emmène-nous à La Ronde, 50 ans de plaisirs forains - Tristan Demers (Montréal)
Two or Four in the title: 1984 - George Orwell
Expanding my search to French titles really helped with some of the prompts, especially the volcano one. I'll be keeping that in mind when I prepare my TBR list for your 2025 prompts. Cannot wait to see what they are! 😁 The 2024 list made me try books that would not have been on my reading list for the year otherwise.

re community interaction: sometimes I read comments, but more often than not, I don't, so while I might know what you read for a prompt, I never know what "the community" read. And of course, I'm sure for you, hearing what your community is choosing is a big part of the fun. So if you read your comments, maybe do so with a notepad and jot down the titles or the trends you see and pick say the top 5 or 10 and at some point in your next regular video, just insert the list of books that grabbed your attention that were read by your community members. I think this may also encourage other community members to join in or to stick with the prompt reading. It doesn't have to be a big deal or a stand alone video. Just a quick, "The Savidge Prompt for January was books with black and white covers: Here is a sample what you lot have been reading: ... " If you want to add a comment about the titles as you go, great, if the list is easier, I think that's enough.

Oooh, I'm excited for 2025 Savidge Reads! I've got a couple of prompts for you:
    1. A book cover that depicts a person whom you find beautiful; regardless of gender: man, woman, child, trans, non-binary, or any other classification.
    2. A book cover depicting an old person -- someone whom you wish was a friend, a mentor, or a relative.

I’m glad you liked my suggestion of a Palestinian poet. I suggested a fiction or nonfiction book with a middle eastern setting to Simon which he reacted to negatively without time to consider the importance of world events happening now. There are so many books that need reading it’s a shame to cut out one area.
