  • As the Roman Empire dissolved in the 5th century, the Eastern Roman Empire, often called the Byzantine Empire, emerged as one of its successor states. Although historians debate about its exact start date, most agree that the Byzantine Empire was founded in 324 CE, when Constantine moved his capital from Rome to Byzantium and renamed it Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul).
Discover the brief history of the Byzantine Empire and how it shaped the region and world.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: URGENT REQUEST FOR SUPPORT FOR THE CHANNEL FANS BEFORE HAVING TO PUT AN END TO THE PROJECT!
We have been striving to work on this channel (5 Minutes), producing high quality content that is also concise in as little as Minutes. We thought that this could be interesting to learn curated information in a very short period of time, especially given the quick pace of today's world.
However, unfortunately, after 1 year of consistent and patient work and regular posting of at least 1 video every 2 weeks, we have been disappointed to see that the channel has not really taken off on RUclips. With Less than 1,000 subs and as little as 300 views per video, we see no other choice but having to halt and put an end to this project we really loved and enjoyed!
We involved different RUclips experts to help us propagate the knowledge offered by this channel but the results have been modest. We understood that such low traction so far may be due to changes done by RUclips on its ranking algorithms to compete with platforms such as TikTok in entertainment videos (dance, music, fun, cooking, sports...).
Although this is a hypothesis and is definitely not verified, we are unable to pursue this project for more than this past year given that it didn't really achieve its number 1 goal, which was reaching as much people as possible around the world and disseminating knowledge in a compelling way.
We will still be publishing our last 3-4 videos over the next couple months.
We are writing this to ask for your support in case there is anything you can do, such as sharing, liking, posting on other platforms, or contributing to our Patreon page (www.patreon.com/5_minutes).
If not, then no worries, we thank you very much for liking our content and for following it!
    All the best!

In reality, the Byzantine empire was an extension as a Roman Eastern empire after the Roman Western empire ceased from existence in 480 A.D ,the western empire ceased from existence when the empire succumbed to repeated attacks and invasions by barbarians and other tribes of Europe mainly Huns & Gauls ...The newly established empire from the begining of fifth century consolidated her self militarily, economically and politically and the newly fledged known now Byzantium flourished virtually in all aspects of life ,in military,in economy,in politics,in culture, in art,in science and in might...The empire reached the peace in her quest for expansion during seventh, eighth and nineth of A .D successive

The name "Byzantine" was given to the Empire a hundred years after it's demise.

This name was given on purpose because they were not Catholics and did not speak Latin. For this reason, the term Byzantine was chosen to describe othering

Justinia was from today's Serbia , he was not greek. 17 other Emperors were from Serbia , includind Constantine the Great. But Christianity spread through Balkans from the 1st century a.d. , from the apostles Peter and Paul.
