For anyone wanting to do this I hope this comment is helpful. I just did this on mine and might make a how to video idk. To remove the red spacer you are going to want to unscrew the cap at the top of the carburetor. To get the spacer to pop out I pushed the thumb throttle until I felt it release. I was then able to use tin snips (being very careful not the cut the exposed wire or spring!!) to cut the plastic piece. I then forced the spring underneath the red piece so that I could slip it off of the wire. Note it helps if you have needle nose pliers to hold the spring down by clamping the wire. After the plastic was removed I noticed my throttle was not working which means the slide inside the carb was stuck. With fingers you can lift the slide up and turn the slotted side towards you and inline with a small rivet in the side of the carburetor. Once you line the slide up properly it will go down to its normal position and you can screw the top cap of the carb back on. This gave me full throttle control instead of having a half inch of useless travel before engaging. If anyone had trouble doing this or didn’t understand the steps you can ask and I will help you the best I can.
Bought one new in 08, for my wife to bounce around on, while the boys went out on real dirt bikes. We have since bought 2 more of them, for the other girls in our group to ride. All of them are completely stock, other than light jetting work, and gearing tweaks. They all run over 45 mph, and have been bulletproof in reliability. Us boys have beatin the piss out of these quads, just playing around on them, and have had no problems at all. My 08 has over 8k of off road miles, and still runs like new. Great machines...just maintain them like you would, an enduro bike, and enjoy them.
Ok, so basically I did what he told me to do. I opened up the throttle area attached to the carburetor to reveal a spring compartment with a red round piece of plastic attached to it. You have to break it off with something sharp as it is not easy. You can pull it out of the compartment if you would like. but do know the throttle slide will get dirty and you will need a cleaning agent to make it work. Once you have the Red Piece removed. You may encounter your throttle being very loose, and when you turn it on the rpm's will be all the way. To fix that you simply clean the slide and make sure the needle attached is clean a swell. If have any other questions I'm willing to assist you. (This method does indeed work, It went from 30-45) (This method if done wrong is easily fixable)
There is also a website called full power performance and you can buy mods for the quad to make it go even faster. I’m gonna buy the clutch mod and a 14 tooth pinion gear soon.
Can you do a how to video actually showing us how to do it. ? I just got a 2020 ds250 I have got it up to 22-25 mph without even taking the speed limiter.
Do I Have a freak DS250???? Mine is a 2008, and is completely stock. I bought it new. Never have done anything to it, besides regular maintenance and light jet tweaking. Runs 45 mph and has been bulletproof for 12 years plus.
i was wondering if the throttle does not work what will i have to do to fix it (Update) Ok I did it and i didn’t mess up the throttle and it works super good. It makes it a ton faster.
So I have the same quad actually but here’s my question will the throttle break or not work after taking off the piece or does it stay on. I don’t want to mess up the throttle if u have an Instagram could I hit u up and ask for your help. Thank you
When I went to take it out, I found out that it wasn't in there which means the previous owners took it out, but when I put it back to together its didnt go faster.

Crazy I just bought a 2021 for my daughter and went to remove the spacer and there is none. Weird. I was hoping there was so i could get it faster lol
Having the same issue please help
@@perezdetailing1914 if there is no spacer I guess you can’t take it out. The manufacturer changed the 2021 carb
Hey could a dealer do this lol or a mechanic? Aint tryna void my warranty
Dealer won’t. Mechanic might. Easy to do it yourself

Do you have any pictures or additional info to help understand what this piece looks like? What year is yours DS?

Do they limit how much throttle you have because it is a smaller quad or because there will be problems with the engine if there is to much throttle?
And if you have to much throttle u will flood the carborater
Hey someone make a how to on how to do this
m.ruclips.net/video/0avbkwSTU-k/видео.html
Please make a top speed video and more vids
Dude!! Thank you so much. When I first road it I was like WTF my old Suzuki 250’s would wax this thing. Different animal now.
Was getting this done hard to do?
no not at all.. 10 minute job, just be careful not to cut the spring :)
I’m buy one today are they pretty good
Bryan Nelson personally I would find a deal on the Honda version since Suzuki killed off the LTZ250 (which would kick this things ass)

Yeah I know I posted this video btw
So nO problem with the throttle after doing this?
B. YankO. No problem at all
@@julianfredd1242 Do you have a full video of the process to get this done?
RcForLifee mine isles high. How do I fix? Please help
it's still not any faster then a 450 rancher, and that tab in the carb is so you don't over rev it and blow it up.
How do get your throttle back i took tbe plastic piece off and put it back together and i have no throttle
Same
Thanks bro!!! Appreciate it
So what he's saying is there's a in carb limiter a pice of plastic do unscrew the throttle from the top of the carb and cut it off then screw back in

I posted this video on a random account, the throttle won't break
@@julianfredd1242 well mine did
I wasn't able to find plastic peice
Get it unstuck because the gas line on the bottom will spew out gas
I just got a 2008 can am ds 250 last month and it goes about 40 miles an hour
After removing the clip from the carburetor, is it worth it to buy an aftermarket exaust and header? (2019 ds250)
Removing the clip causes over revving which can damage the engine
Heaw mach.
I want to do it but I don’t want the Throttle to break
My 2016 didn’t have it in the carb
Thanks it’s much faster now
Was this hard to do?
Ernesto Jimenez No not at all. Just follow those steps and you should be good.
Mine isn't eny faster idk why
Does anyone know if this same procedure will work on a 2020 Can Am 250 DS?
It works on a 2020 if you didnt figure it out yet
@@Hondadirtbike Thanks. I will be attempting to try it in the upcoming weeks after the initial oil change. I was hoping someone had a video of it.
@@ernestojimenez2957 well it worked on my old 2019 one so it should work for it

@@Hondadirtbike did you make any other adjustments once you broke off the red plastic piece?
I tried and I couldn't find the red piece and now my throttle is broken please help!!!
Did you figure it out?
Yes
You have to PERFECTLY line up the needle and slide it back into the carb slowly.
Well what you can do is..... buy a ltr 450 fastest quad in the game.💪🏼💪🏼
🤣🤣 capp
Do u know if it's the same method for a 2011 model

it literally goes 55
Hey can any one help me I did this now every time I turn on my quad it’s reving to high
Adrian Flores samethigb happened to me. did you fix this
If you look at your carborater you'll see a screw that you need to spin and then you hear that it will change the sound
When I went to take it out, I found out that it wasn't in there which means the previous owners took it out, but when I put it back to together its didnt go faster.
still no how to on youtube :(

How did you break the red piece?
m.ruclips.net/video/0avbkwSTU-k/видео.html
Mine still only goes like 40 or 45
Where exactly is the piece of plastic?
MaxSkill on top of the carburetor you will see it when you screw the cover for it off
Is there a video showing how exactly to do this??
MrCouch8 I might make a video on how to do this
RcForLifee is it coming
I removed red piece! Now no throttle. Can anyone help
Make sure the limiter isnt set. And make sure the slide is clean, it was a factor for me
The slide inside of the carburetor will not go down unless the slot it lined up with the pin. Just twist the slide until it goes down
does anyone Know if its the same for a 2007??
m.ruclips.net/video/0avbkwSTU-k/видео.html
Ok
Are you supposed to break the red plastic part?
Mohamed Amine yes I've done it on mine... it makes a good increase in power
