My juice order is whatever I got in the fridge that needs to be used, but usually has carrots as the base vegetables to start with. I just refuse to buy juice in the wilds.
Spinach/kale .. beets..ginger “lemonade “.. Gotta load up on iron and vitamin c and k in my younger years … I’m tryna get that Auntie Angela B glow/skin package by Friday… ( the goal every Friday..BE ANGELA BASSET!!)
I don’t buy juiced produce much but I do make my own ginger beer, tepache, and tibicos. As for the lemon remains, I peel the zest off my lemons before I juice them and add some minced zest back in to my lemonade. I mix the remaining zest with honey for colds, sugar for baking/rimming cocktails, or salt for meat rubs and salad dressing.
It's not an order but I love the Arden's Garden apple/pineapple/ginger juice in the small bottles that you can find at Publix or Whole Foods! It hits the spot when I'm out and about and thirsty, and if I'm sick the ginger going down my throat makes me feel like it's doing something.
Fun fact: beets only taste like dirt to some people, like how coriander tastes like soap to some people. It’s due to them being more sensitive to the chemical geosmin in the beets. To me they taste mostly sweet.
whhhaaat - that's brand news?!? raw or roasted beets taste very earthy to me but once they're boiled, I find them sweet - is that also about this geosmin??

GIRL!! The chaos In your videos is soooo appreciated.. b/c I don't do ANYTHING right.. so I feel so good seeing the chaos AND the successful end product of whatever you're doing at the moment.😂 Gives me hope.
I've never heard someone so accurately describe what beets taste like....dirt, and stepping outside and smelling the rain coming! 😂Yes! But I love them toooo!
I was gonna say candy it for other recipes.. zest first then use the juice … final destination for leftover lemon pits .. the pits of hell aka garbage disposal … 3 for one.
After I’ve zested, the rest gets chucked in the microwave for when someone in my house is heating up something pungent (fish), really saves the kitchen. Can go a few rounds in the microwave before it ends up like a potpourri ingredient and you risk starting a fire 😅
You can infuse things with the lemon rind- water, sugar, vinegar, oil, etc, just mix and sit. Both the oil or vinegar would make a nice addition to a homemade salad dressing
Now Cousin!!!! As a uterus with legs who also found the benefit of Beets &ginger “lemonade “.. you have literally saved me sooooo much money(8.00 a cup for at least 5 days a month) … adding Tradarius to the shopping list for this month… clearing the ginger drink shelves cause SOLUTIONS!!! I’ve never been more excited to go to the store😊
@@Marci82 The image of beet peel degreaser on windows, dripping down the sill struck me like a horror movie scene, as someone who has, multiple times, ruined clothes by eating pickled beets or beet greens. 🤣
You were scaring me with that knife, then I remembered that I wield mine in a similar manner and realized that I should worry about myself 🤣 I'm glad the Space Jam t-shirt made it out the juice making process stain free. Thanks for another drink recipe!
I will never forget that time I made roasted lemon salsa, and it was heaven. I've never made it again because it was kinda fiddly and I am lazy in the kitchen. But a great use for lemon rinds!
You can put all of your used citrus in a large mason jar, cover it with vinegar and let sit for a week, then use it as an all purpose cleaner. Dehydrate the peels and make citrus powder to add to your drinks and smoothies(you can line the rim of your drink with it like a margarita). You can make your own vegetable stock and throw them in there too!
lmao, spot on beets do taste like a fresh acre after summer rain. AND uses for lemon "shells", IF they're organic: zest it into some sugar and rub it into it, to get the best lemony sugar to pimp your yoghurt, oatmeal, etc etc. OR put them whole into lentils, quinoa, rice while boling - it gives a deep tang that goes well with anything that has lemony-ish sauce.
A tip for using the leftover lemon bits after the juice is squeezed out is to make candied peel 🍋🍭 You just cut it into strips and boil it in simple syrup until it smells so delicious that you can’t help but take it out and eat it 😅
For the lemons you can: - use for deodorizing your garbage disposal - put them in a glass far with vinegar for an all purpose cleaner - use them to make lemon honey for a quick lemonade! 🍋
My husband is in his Nara Smith era (shout-out to the nutmilk bag). So far we've gotten homemade: Almond milk Oat milk Laundry detergent Seitan Vegan yogurt Hummus Assortment of cakes (lime, banana, chocolate.)
U can put the lemon peels in a pot heat up on stove aromatherapy add cinnamon sticks or cloves if feeling extra spunky . Also good for the garden . But I knw we haven’t gotten to that homestead journey yet lol baby steps .
for the leftover lemon peels you should make vinegar cleaner! vinegar is an all-natural cleaner, i recently made it so i don't use the toxic chemicals from wipes and like clorox sprays as often. you soak any citrus peels in white vinegar for a couple weeks then you have a scented an all-purpose cleaner! you can dilute it with some water
If you put the lemon rinds in a bowl of water and microwave for 1 minute, it makes the inside of the microwave easy to wipe down and smell nice. I also put them in the kettle overnight to help with limescale ☺
A good use for the skin of the lemon is to grate the skin into a zest for something else you're cooking maybe? Doesn't have to be right away, skins of lemons can last a Minute in the fridge but if you're up to it, it's there when you juice em.
you are so funny and I LOVE coming to your channel and catching up with what you're making. i used to get a similar juice at my juice spot - beets, ginger, carrot apple with a spinach patty on the side! looking forward to the next drinky drink
5:07 You could portion and freeze the pressed lemon and use it for tea.... No, the pith will still make everything bitter.... You can zest before juicing and dry the lemon zest.
for the lemons: cut and boil them in sugar water to add to teas, use it to clean the counters, throw them in your sink dispenser to clean them and help with the smell. p.s. you're better than me because if i spilled beet juice on my period i would have given up and left it all on the table for another day to crawl into bed and cry.
Evelyn, I freaking love you!!! Considering your knife skills dilemma, i hesitate to share, but I also can't gatekeep: with a smaller knife, *gingerly* cut each fold/section of the leftover lemon and scrape out the meat of the lemon. Voila, pulpy tang on a thousand! ❤
You could peel the lemons before you juice them and make candy lemon peel. Or peel the lemons add the peel to sugar to make lemon sugar for drinks or baking.
Looks delicious! I shall try this too. I made a spicy guava drink inspired by the spicy watermelon drink you shared from last week, and it’s soooo good.
As a fellow ginger heaux, I'm right there with you. I be finding excuses to add ginger to EVERYTHING. Thank you as always for sharing your light with us, can't wait to try this one ✨ P.S a lil' beet tip I use is slow roasting a bunch of beets in foil packets (a la J Kenji Lopez Alt's "Beets that don't Suck" vid), peeling, pureeing and then freezing what i don't need in ice trays. Future me is ALWAYS grateful (:
If you have a garbage disposal, you can chop the lemon rinds up and put them in the disposal and grind them up to help with the odor and repel those annoying little rot/sink/fruit flies.
As a child of di tropics, i use my lemon ans lime rinds (any citrus really) or juice squeeze leftover parts, to "clean" raw meats, like chicken or beef cuts for stew. When you think of it, its basically like vinegar (which we also use in fhe washing water for fhe same purpose. (I also hear that people candy the rinds in sugar but ion got time for dat🤷🏾♀️)
I used to get nearly this same juice order when I missed the train. They may have also included carrot juice. Regardless, beautiful red juice that tastes like delicious dirt!!
This video was a journey! The stress I felt for your shirt when you started peeling the beet. I could never have managed to not look like a crime scene. For anyone trying to beet it up: If on white natural fabric remove solids, dab it lightly, then treat it like a blood stain starting from the underside of the fabric: - Dampen with vinegar or lemon juice. - Rinse with cold water. - Spray with hydrogen peroxide. Imma be honest I skip straight to the H2O2 if the clothes ain’t precious.
