I've never had a vacation as an adult and now I'm 58 and a widow. And now a severe asthmatic/COPD so can't walk distances. I didn't realize non disabled could rent these. I hope if I get to visit people won't think I'm lazy, I'm on an Inogen. It's so heavy...
I see that a lot! I hate it! Those were meant to be used by those that truly need it - not by spoiled, untaught, inconsiderate lazy a$$es. Those people using it and abusing that service don't know how to think of other people - only themselves. Sad.
Simple solution is to have the person renting it provide a doctor's note within 24hours of rental so you can verify with doctor the validity of the note and condition. There's no need to assume because someone is fat, they are lazy. I am considered overweight but I play ice hockey and softball. I recently hurt my knee and am waiting for meniscus surgery after I get an MRI. I live here. I could easily be mistaken for being lazy and fat because I currently need one to help me walk when we go to dinner on the strip. Stop being so fucking mean people.
I so regretted not renting a mobility scooter when I was in Las Vegas. Hours of walking along the Strip with the heat was not fun at all, I did not want to miss most of the interesting places, I ended up hurting my legs and muscles.
So my mom had to use one of those after foot surgery for a while in the grocery store and after getting in the car to leave I would bring it back to the store. I tell you, I felt so guilty amd shameful riding that, if I could have walked it back I would have. Be thankful you can walk.. if you are to fat to walk, that means you should now more than ever if your on vacation, you can go at your own pace..
I have seen large groups of people 10+ who are using them to cruise up and down the strip, especially up near Circus Circus and the Strat. They are in 20’s and 30’s with no apparent handicaps. All are the same ethnic group too.
They are disgusting but they will have very short lives as well. Too lazy to live in the end. It is really utterly gross to see though, So young, lazy and useless.
Devils advocate here. Who are the police, strangers, or anybody other than the person, the scooter rental place, and the doctors to say whether or not they need a scooter? And the police saying these are dangerous? That makes people who need them feel like police are going to look at them as a danger to society. I’m paralyzed. I have to use a motorized wheelchair. This is despicable.. the police reaction. Please. Tell me what danger of this? Those of you who say oh you could run peoples feet over. So can bikes, regular wheelchairs, segues, cars. Unless you know for a fact that that person has no health problems whatsoever, get off your high horse and quit judging other people. I needed mobility assistance devices for years ago but wasn’t completely paralyzed until two years ago. The first two years this disgusting attitude was spewing at me because though I could walk it hurt and caused stress on my severely damaged heart.
Should not be useing if they are not disabled! Shame on them! And their being damaged destroyed! And hey these people are just lazy & can walk! Many disabled people forced to use wheel chairs as scooters are not available because of these disrespectful ignorant people! 💩💩💩💩💩💩
There are people who truly need these mobility scooters(paralyzed, amputees, etc.) and these lazy folks are putting up a bad image on them. Yet again it is those who really need them who suffer because of the abuses of the people who are not supposed to be using them. There should be a license for someone to use them so only those who need them can ge granted such. It could cause inconvenience at first but at least it’s one way to prevent such from getting abused
I have an invisible disability and are always in fear that I'll be judged and critized like these people... I agree that people who don't need them shouldn't use them, but I think it's gonna be a, lot worse if we start judging others and criticizing them just because they don't look disabled. Could lead to bad situations. A simple solution would be to only rent to those who have a doctor's note, a disabled ID, or a visual disability. Period.
I upgrade mobility scooters(ride at your own risk) to gas powered, brushless, lithium powered, etc. You might see me driving around on my 40mph cooler/scooter. Hit me up if you wanna make yours badass too.
LOL there are scooters with roofs now wth 4 wheels, and I thought the 2 wheel 50cc Vespa type rentals were ridiculous, but people want them rent them. Chinese made are pretty cheap
This is incredibly judgemental. Who are you to judge who needs the use of this equipment and who does not? Just because you're young you can't have medical conditions? Many people have heart conditions, breathing issues, and other disabilities that are not obvious to the naked eye. If people are using them irresponsibly, then cite them for that. And even if they just don't want to walk, SO WHAT?? If they can afford it what's it to you? This is a bunch of BS
Have these "commentators" ever stopped to think about the fact that young people can be disabled too? You dont have to be elderly to have multiple sclerosis, ehlers danlos syndrome, POTS, heart issues, chronic fatigue, and hundreds of other conditions. The cameraman, in particular should be ashamed for repeatedly targeting the black disabled woman in this clip, with no knowledge of her disabilities. People, dont be ignorant! It is not possible to determine if someone is disabled by looking at them, and no-one is "too young to be disabled". Seriously. What a
I have lumbar spinal stenosis and at the age of 40 years old I am having issues getting help with disability, Not everyone can show a handicap id when they are disabled. I hate to use any type of mobility scooter but I am one of the people that truly need it.

No. It's not. Being lazy is unamerican.
