I remember the words of another coach saying "ye sab mai kuch nahi hai Meru, cricket khelo, wahi hai asli paisa" This mentality is prevalent to this day and is the reason why so many "would be" greats probably got lost somewhere in the crowd! 🥺 Tum log legends ho bhaiyo! We need to realise that every sport required exceptional achievement to reach there. India won World Cup in 1983. So it's there now. But eventually india will slowly progress in all Sports. We need to support it not just blaming other sports.

If we can come back in field hockey, currently Indian team is ranked second, runners up twice in champions trophy, young Indian team won youth hockey World Cup in 2016. This happened after decades of lacklustre performance. Volleyball is another sport, Indian team can do well. With such a huge pool to select players it’s just a question of time. I wish to see Indian team in top twenty in near future.
