Oh no! You chose the official video of *Part 2* which is plagued by clips from the movie. For the REAL experience listen to: *Another Brick In The Wall Part 1* + *The Happiest Days Of Our Lives* + *Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 (STUDIO VERSIONS)* TOGETHER.
*The Wall* is a concept album and those 3 songs are basically 1 song divided into 3 parts. What you did here is basically start the song in the middle.
Trust me, listen to the 3 together. Enjoy! 👍🏼

Listen to the entire album. It is the story of Pink who grew up without a father and an overbearing mother. He grows up to be a rock star who overdoses. Then it is all in his head he begins to tear down the wall that has been built around his mental health

Excellent reaction. Very inciteful, and passionate about a topic that Pink Floyd was aware of many years ago. Kudos, Peace.

YOU MUST EITHER DO THE WHOLE STUDIO ALBUM OR DO A WALL LIVE SHOW. I WAS LUCKY TO LIVE THE WALL LIVE EXPERIENCE ALMOST 10 YEARS AGO. ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I HAVE EVER SEEN.

4:24 The bass is so juicy in this song. 8:31 I’ve listened to this song for decades, and I still have to “play” this part with my hands. These songs may be better for you on Spotify, where you won’t be distracted. Trying to figure out what’s happening in the video is robbing you of Gilmore’s guitar. 😊 Then jump in sometime later, and watch the movie. Thanks for sharing.

Reactions to things I TOOK FOR GRANTED - so very interesting and a wonderful experience to share your experience. On another reaction you mention knowing something about the background FIRST. I quite agree, what you are experiencing can't be just in isolation of what you hear and see. But you must know something about the artists, who wrote the music etc - mostly themselves. Equally the time frame of other artists and where their work got in the charts & sales, to truly appreciate what a wonderful time late 60's to late 90s. There were so many different abilities and catered for many age groups, not limited to just those who where buying the records
    ecordings.

Please listen to the studio album before watching the movie. The main problem with this video is that it obscures the Gilmore solo at the end

The depiction of the classroom is, of course, stylised. But many who went through British schools post WWII upto the 1970's recognise many elements, partly because many teachers formerly served in the war. For much of this time physical punishment was allowed by the class teacher. By the time I went through the system it was improving and only the headmaster could deliver physical punishment. And let's say that the daily line outside the headmaster's office would be long.
This song does need to be considered in the context of the whole double album 'The Wall'. The classroom experience of Pink as a child is describing another element of his alienation. Mother is another episode of his alienation, each adds a brick to the wall he builds around himself.
One fun bit though, the poem that the teacher mocks is the lyrics to Money from Dark Side of the Moon.
